Chapter 13: The Anomaly of the Final Day

I was in a warm, cozy place—comfortable but unable to see clearly. My mind felt fuzzy, vision hazy, like a dream.

"Get up."

"Whoa!"

A sudden cold voice startled me, making me shiver all over. I snapped out of the haze and realized I was in bed, wrapped tight in blankets.

So it really was a dream.

The one who called me was undoubtedly Yejia Yin. Only two of us lived here. Turning my head, I saw Yejia Yin standing by the bed, watching me calmly.

I stretched lazily and complained with a hint of dissatisfaction, "So early? It’s not even dawn yet."

Yes, the sky was still dark; the sun hadn’t risen.

I gathered my thoughts and suddenly realized something was off.

No, it was obviously wrong. My voice, though troublesome to me, was undeniably soft and pleasant to others. But just now, it was stiff and hoarse.

Like a boy’s.

Wait, a boy?

I froze for two seconds, rubbed my eyes, and looked at my hands in disbelief.

The familiar yellowish skin tone. Small, but definitely not like a little girl’s. My knuckles were prominent—a sign of a lean body, one path for boys entering puberty.

Luckily, I had the legendary "eats but doesn’t gain weight" physique. With my small appetite, my body naturally grew lean.

But that was all past—when I was a boy.

Things from being a boy!

I quietly slipped my hand under the blanket toward my lower body. Oh no, the familiar bulge… and since it was early morning, peak hormone time, it was… in an excited state.

I panicked, trying to switch back to my female form, but it didn’t work!

How? Yejia Yin was still watching me, making my heart race even more.

You see, I could switch back to a boy this week, but I’d stayed as a girl because I lived alone with Yejia Yin here. Better to keep my female identity; she might feel uncomfortable otherwise.

I’d already troubled her enough. Grateful but guilty, I didn’t want to upset her over this. But now, what should I do?

I secretly checked Yejia Yin’s expression. Surprisingly, she wasn’t upset. Noticing my fidgeting, she asked, "What’s wrong?"

"I… uh…"

I took a deep breath, gave her a forced, ingratiating smile, and said, "For some reason, my body switched back. And I can’t change back for a while."

…So I’d already defaulted to considering the girl form as the "original" state.

"This is normal," Yejia Yin said calmly. "Today’s the last day of your full transformation, right? Just the original existence’s last flicker. It’ll be fine after today."

Yejia Yin seemed to know our race well. She casually resolved my confusion and embarrassment. I dumbly replied "Oh," inwardly grumbling why Qingli hadn’t warned me.

That really scared me.

"Don’t just sit there. Get up," Yejia Yin said impatiently, seeing me frozen on the bed. "Our appointment time is almost here. Get up first; you can sleep in the car or after we reach the Provincial City."

"Uh, okay. I really want to get up," I forced a bitter smile, "but could you step out for a moment? I’m… not decent."

Yejia Yin clearly froze for a second, then glared at me and the blanket before turning and walking out.

It’s not my fault—that thing gets excited in the morning! I thought resentfully, then got up and put on my clothes.

These were the clothes I brought from home, prepared by my mother—boy’s clothes. The familiar gray hoodie and black pants. Touching them again, I was so moved I could barely contain myself…
