Chapter 18: Trapped in the Steel Cage

Come to think of it, what does Eira actually look like naked?

Sitting outside chatting with an old lady, I finally couldn’t hold back. This waiting was really awful.

Though we lived together, slept in the same bed, even held each other, we’d never done anything real couples do. I’d never seen that slender, exquisite body of hers.

“...What’s wrong? Too much fire in your youth?”

“Granny, what are you talking about!?”

This old lady was scary. Not only did she know, but everything about me was laid bare. No hiding my current state.

Mind-reading? No, no. More like thorough analysis. As a doctor, she could see through physical conditions. But if she could read thoughts too... then only one thing: penetrating the brain, letting the mind reveal the body’s state and thoughts.

“I’m not a beast, you know? My life now is pretty good.”

“Heh, you men all talk a good game, but your true feelings are obvious. I thought the great Hero of old would be noble, but now it’s rather amusing.”

“Granny, even heroes are human. Besides... I’m not one anymore.”

Zeming turned to look at a photo on the wall. It showed his back at a rescue scene from the past.

“But back then, you pioneered this era. Now, will you turn a blind eye to this decaying age?”

Granny’s words made Zeming ponder. But for now, that had nothing to do with him.

Deep thinking was just killing time. It wasn’t his era anymore; he had no place to speak. That kind of thing...

“I don’t have that right anymore.”

“Well, if you’re unwilling, I suppose I understand.”

Granny sighed, as if she’d expected this.

Whoosh—

The curtain pulled back. Two pretty nurses stepped out, holding it open. Their warm, attentive service welcomed Eira out.

At first, I didn’t think much of it. But Eira, flushed and wobbly as she walked, caught my eye.

“Eira, what happened to you?” I blurted out.

Right now, Eira’s face wasn’t pale anymore—it had a hint of red. Her skin was smoother than ever, like a true work of art glowing before me.

“N-nothing. Just treatment.”

“You got a super high-end moisturizing spa! You even smell of essential oils.”

Wait, those two women inside... even now, they’re licking their lips. They must have been touching Eira in there.

Come to think of it, women are more open with each other. It must have been quite the experience.

“What lewd thoughts are you having?” Eira snapped, pinching Zeming’s shoulder.

“Heh, nothing. Just daydreaming.”

I shook my head. No special thoughts now.

“Better not. I don’t want a pervert sleeping in my bed.”

“Heh, without those thoughts, I wouldn’t be a husband. Sex is part of marital affection.”

“Really? I think our affection doesn’t need that. If you have any improper ideas, I’ll castrate you.”

“Heh, I’m scared of those words.”

Just hearing that made my lower body ache.

Granny walked over, inspecting Eira up and down. Eira stood still quietly. Only after Granny nodded did she bow slightly in thanks.

“All clear. No problems at all. You could even go wild with your husband tonight.”

“Granny! That won’t happen!” Eira blushed and shouted.

If that really happened, it’d be bliss beyond words.

“Goodbye, Granny. Next time I hope we just have tea.”

Zeming glanced at Eira beside him.

Eira lowered her head, silently ashamed. That feeling was still no good.

“Sorry. Next time, I won’t mess around.”

“Yes, yes. Seeing you safe is enough. It’s the best outcome for little Vivian.”

“Right. The child is what matters most.”

Agreeing on this, Eira and Zeming headed for the door.

“By the way, this elevator is really fancy. It’s decorated with carpets and felt.”

“I guess.”

“And this big mirror is impressive. It covers the whole back. Bad feng shui, though.”

“Hmm...”

“Why won’t you talk? Even quietness is confusing.”

“Nothing. Let’s go downstairs.”

I didn’t know why, but it was better to go home fast. I didn’t like places where I felt completely exposed.

“Huh? I pressed the button earlier.”

“Huh!?”

“This won’t... could it be...”

The elevator had been moving but now stopped.

I looked at the floor display screen. Suddenly, the lights went out. Darkness filled the enclosed space.

“Heh, looks like a power outage.”

Zeming was just embarrassed. But behind him, Eira, struggling, suddenly grabbed his back, clutching his clothes tightly...

“Is something wrong?”
