Chapter 4
After the morning's little incident, Lisbeth arrived punctually at the hall of the Demon King's Fortress. As she passed through the door to the hall, two grand staircases came into view on either side. The maids, dressed in Maid Outfits identical to those in human kingdoms, stood silently along both staircases, their faces bearing solemn expressions.
At the same time, when she turned her gaze toward the second-floor landing, she spotted a massive door towering above the staircases—on the hall's second floor. If nothing was amiss, that door likely led to the Demon King's bedroom.
"Oh? This really hasn't changed at all. I never expected her bedroom to look like this even back then~"
"What are you muttering about alone? Hurry up and get into position."
Just as Lisbeth was still observing the hall, Hilda's voice suddenly sounded behind her. Hearing this, Lisbeth pointed at the maids already lined up on both sides of the stairs. "I do want to stand properly, but I have no idea which side to join."
"Neither side. Follow me."
"Eh?"
After saying this, Hilda took Lisbeth's hand and led her to the center in front of the maids. Once they stood firmly before the group, Hilda cleared her throat lightly and addressed all present: "Everyone, before Lord Demon King wakes today, let me introduce a newcomer. Her name is Lisbeth. Starting now, she'll work alongside us for Lord Demon King. Lisbeth, introduce yourself first."
"Yes~"
Despite being stared at by so many, Lisbeth showed no trace of nervousness. With a sweet smile, she stepped forward and said slowly, "Hello everyone. As Head Maid Hilda just mentioned, I'm Lisbeth, the new member joining you today. If I don't understand anything, I hope you'll kindly guide me~"
"Hmm, a fine introduction. But I must correct one thing: your role differs slightly from theirs."
Just as Lisbeth finished, Hilda continued to the maids, "You've likely noticed Lisbeth's uniform—and guessed right. Though new, she's also the sixth Personal Maid exclusively for Lord Demon King. That makes her your superior too. Keep that clear. Now, let's welcome our newcomer~"
*Clap clap clap clap clap~*
The maids burst into applause, their faces beaming with joy. Only Lisbeth, the one being welcomed, looked utterly bewildered. She whispered to Hilda, "Hey, old hag, what's this Personal Maid nonsense? I never heard about it."
"Hmph. You get a prized position and still complain. Not just anyone can be a Personal Maid—accept it obediently."
"Heh. I see. You gave me this hollow title just to monitor me closely. Whatever, fine."
Though initially shocked, Lisbeth quickly grasped the reason. Unlike ordinary maids who cluster together, being one of few Personal Maids would make watching her far simpler.
"Tch. Sharp mind for once. But this isn't hollow. The other Personal Maids will arrive soon—you'll introduce yourself properly then."
"Understood. But as a newcomer, please let me do something for the seniors first~"
As Lisbeth finished, she suddenly raised her voice to address everyone: "Then, as today's newly appointed Personal Maid, allow me to wake Lord Demon King first~"
"Eh!?"
