Under Xia Zixin's lead, she pulled Nangong Shiyu by the hand into a restaurant. They sat down facing each other at a table. Xia Zixin took the menu from the waiter and started ordering her favorites.
"Hmm... what would Shiyu like to order, little sister?"
Nangong Shiyu frowned slightly, beads of sweat on her forehead, head lowered as if deep in thought.
"Shiyu?"
"Ah, just order anything for me," Nangong Shiyu responded casually after realizing Xia Zixin was calling her.
"That won't do. I don't know what you like, big sister here."
"I said anything is fine."
"No way." Xia Zixin forced the menu into Nangong Shiyu's hands. "If you don't order something, you won't get any sleep tonight after we get home."
As soon as she said that, the waiter's facial expression visibly twitched.
"Ahhh, I know! I'll order, I'll order, okay?"
After scanning the menu, Nangong Shiyu randomly picked Mapo tofu and handed the menu back. The waiter wrote down the order, bowed deeply to them, and headed to the kitchen.
About ten minutes later, he respectfully brought the dishes and rice bucket, placing them skillfully on the table.
"Please enjoy your meal, guests." He bowed again, gathered his tray, and left.
On the table sat three dishes: Nangong Shiyu's Mapo tofu, and Xia Zixin's multigrain steamed buns and pork shumai.
"Why did you only order carbs?" Nangong Shiyu stared at the unconventional plates, her mind full of questions.
"Hehehe, I just love these." Xia Zixin popped a pork shumai into her mouth. "Mmm, so good!"
Seeing Xia Zixin's happy, content expression, Nangong Shiyu sighed in relief. She pushed all doubts aside, deciding to just enjoy dinner. She filled her bowl with steamed rice and added a piece of Mapo tofu.
Just as she was about to taste it, chopsticks holding a pork shumai suddenly blocked her bowl.
"Ah, open up." Xia Zixin smiled warmly.
"N-no, that's not necessary. I can feed myself..."
"Ah, open up, be good~"
Nangong Shiyu knew resistance was useless. After a day together, she'd learned Xia Zixin's stubborn streak—once she decided something, she never backed down.
"Mmm~" She chewed the shumai. Savory and fresh, with springy dough—it was genuinely tasty.
"It's actually pretty good."
"Hehe, right? Hurry up, it's your turn now, little sister Shiyu." Xia Zixin opened her mouth wide, signaling for a bite.
"Sigh... I can't win with you." Nangong Shiyu fed her a piece of Mapo tofu. Just as she thought it was over, she felt dozens of curious stares from around the restaurant and instantly blushed.
"I'm telling you, Xia Zixin—"
"Words won't help." Xia Zixin swallowed, then held out a small piece of multigrain bun. "Be good, open up~"
Nangong Shiyu obeyed silently, eating the bite.
And so, under everyone's watchful eyes, they finished their blush-inducing dinner, feeding each other bite by bite.
