"Hmm~"
After reading on the sofa for a while, I set aside the hefty cookbook. I twisted my neck with a soft groan, stretched lazily, and gently moved my body.
Glancing slightly at the clock, I realized nearly two hours had passed since Lu and I started researching alone. Time really flies when you're deeply focused.
"Lu, how’s it going?"
I sank back lazily into the sofa and gently hugged Lu, who was still glued to her screen.
"Hmm... so much knowledge..." Lu sighed softly. She set aside her laptop, pouted, and flopped sideways onto me.
"Amelia, I skimmed this world’s history," she nuzzled against me, excited. "The tech progress here is insane!"
"Humans here are inherently fragile," I said, hugging her and gently bumping my head to hers. "Their bodies are paper-thin against disasters. That’s why they rely on tools to survive."
I paused, sitting up straight. Lu listened intently.
"So, Lu—never underestimate any race. Or any person."
"Mm, I get the race part," Lu tilted her head slightly. "Like humans here: weak bodies, but they build mighty tools with hands and smarts. But Amelia, what about the second part?"
"It’s simple," I said calmly. "Even if someone seems broken, never crush them with contempt. There’s a saying here: ‘Times shift like river currents; never scorn a poor youth.’"
"Huh? What’s that mean?" Lu blinked, confused.
"Well," I explained, "a great river here changes course often. A place east of it today might be west years later. It means fortunes flip unpredictably." My voice turned icy. "And ‘never scorn a poor youth’? Don’t bully the down-and-out—you never know their future. A starving painter once sparked world chaos. History’s full of such twists... Today’s wretch can become tomorrow’s giant."
"So, Lu—never dismiss someone for being down on their luck. Nurture your talented allies. But enemies?" I gripped her shoulders. "Eradicate them. Leave no shadows for tomorrow."
