Why is this happening? I don’t know, and not even a trace of unease stirred in my heart…

“I know.”

Lu nodded slightly. Then, a serious expression spread across her cute little face—one that just couldn’t look serious no matter how you saw it.

“First, I must tell you this body you’re in now belongs to my head maid, Amelia Phoenix.”

Lu spoke slowly to me. Then, she plopped herself down on my bed.

“Head maid?”

I stood frozen, echoing the words. At the same time, fragments began surfacing in my mind upon hearing this…

“That’s right, head maid,” Lu nodded slightly. “Amelia is one of the three people closest to me. I was raised by her since childhood.”

“…”

After Lu’s words, I fell silent, waiting quietly for her to finish.

But right then, the name Amelia Phoenix felt incredibly familiar—especially the surname, Phoenix.

It nagged at me like something I’d heard before, yet I couldn’t recall what “Phoenix” truly meant.

“Amelia’s race is the immortal bird. She’s a full-grown Phoenix, so her body is essentially undying.”

Lu continued slowly. Hearing this, I couldn’t hide my shock—immortal bird, Phoenix!

No wonder her full name felt so familiar earlier. It was all because of “Phoenix”!

Remember what I mentioned before? I’d realized I wasn’t ordinary, so in my free time, I’d avidly collect rumors about myths or special forces. That’s why I knew a lot—but back then, I was too stunned to connect the dots. And second… second, I recognized the name but never imagined this.

“But souls can die, right?”

I paused briefly after Lu’s words before speaking.

“That’s right,” Lu closed her eyes, nodding with a pained look. “Though Amelia’s body is nearly immortal… her soul can be killed.”

“My father, the Demon Emperor, passed mysteriously a thousand years ago. As I was about to ascend the throne, countless forces besieged the Demon Realm… I was still young then, powerless even now. So I had no choice but to flee… Amelia covered my retreat at the last moment. Yet after I escaped to this world, pursuers defeated me and sealed me here.”

Lu blinked, her face tight with pain from the memories. Watching her, my heart ached.

Without her saying more, I already understood what came next.
