Right now, leveling up was Soulshadow Tianyou’s top priority. Gear didn’t matter much to her. She’d already mapped out her future skills. Though she still had a legendary Experience Pearl, she wouldn’t use it—it’d be a waste right now.

As the Inheritor of Gogu Deity, her class was meant to be an Assassin—a shadowy role planting and throwing bombs from the dark.

She wasn’t thrilled about playing an Assassin or Rogue. But this New Year’s special class was absurdly strong. To make everyone who looked down on her eat their words, this was the fastest shortcut.

And the quickest way to level up now was…

“So now…” Soulshadow Tianyou turned her head, squinting at the Loli Monkey sitting obediently on the ground.

“Master, your expression is scary,” the Loli Monkey shivered all over.

“Little Monkey, I need you to do something for me. Will you?” Soulshadow Tianyou asked with a sly smile.

“Uh… you’re the master. You decide.”

“Alright, Little Monkey, let’s go grind maps,” Soulshadow Tianyou said playfully, patting the Loli Monkey’s head.

---

Naked and only level 3, Soulshadow Tianyou and her pet Loli Monkey had left the newbie village. She saw no reason to return to Village of Destiny.

The game had tons of players, but distribution was wildly uneven. Some spots were packed like a tide of people; others were ghost towns.

She’d start her journey immediately—heading from the newbie village to the nearest world main city. She’d level up along the way and grab some trash gear to wear.

This wasn’t reckless. She’d planned it carefully.

Though she had zero gear, she had absolute confidence—in her pet.

They’d just left the rabbit-filled plains map and entered a dark forest. This area spawned auto-aggroing wild wolf monsters from levels 7 to 10. With her current level and gear, one bite would mean game over.

But she didn’t go deep. Instead, she lounged in the safe zone at the forest’s edge. A blade of grass dangled from her mouth. Her feet were propped up. Eyes closed, she felt the game’s breeze.

Numbers kept popping above her head—experience gains. Level 3 Soulshadow Tianyou was now level 5.

Ding! She hit level 6.

Why was she gaining XP without lifting a finger? Simple. She’d ordered the Loli Monkey to grind mobs alone while she soaked up the shared XP. With an ancient-tier pet this early, she didn’t need to fight. Letting the Loli Monkey farm was the fastest leveling method.

Plus, the Loli Monkey had a skill splitting half its XP with her. Even after splitting, this speed proved how powerful a top-tier pet was.

Honestly, a hundred Soulshadow Tianyous versus the Loli Monkey would be a one-sided Dynasty Warriors slaughter.

So, on the road to the Chinese server’s first main city, she spent it all like this—relaxing.

A divine pet lived up to its name. The Loli Monkey played the game; Soulshadow Tianyou just sat aside. Normally, players grinded with pets. Now, the pet grinded with the player. Tianyou felt more like the pet herself.

“Master~ Master~”

After a while, level 10 Soulshadow Tianyou was dozing off when the Loli Monkey emerged from the forest, hefting the Golden Cudgel on her shoulder.

“Hmm? What is it?” Soulshadow Tianyou asked.

“I found an elite monster in the forest center. To kill it, you’ll need to come,” the Loli Monkey chirped, bouncing nonstop like she had ADHD.

“With my gear, even a wild wolf’s touch would kill me. Dying for an elite’s XP isn’t worth it,” Soulshadow Tianyou said softly, gazing at the blue sky.

She knew why the Loli Monkey ran back—pets couldn’t stray too far or they’d be forcibly recalled.

“Master, I have gear. Take it!” The Loli Monkey plunged her hand into her furry shorts and tossed air toward Soulshadow Tianyou.

“…” Soulshadow Tianyou blinked, then checked her inventory. Extra coins and gear had appeared.

She’d had two copper coins. Now she had two silver and hundreds of copper. The new items were low-level white and green leather armor—a perfect full set.

“Master, am I good? Pet my fur now!” the Loli Monkey giggled.

Soulshadow Tianyou stroked her head. The Loli Monkey obediently lowered it.

“I’ve seen players open pet inventories. But never a pet transferring items without confirmation… Your AI and permissions are set crazy high,” Soulshadow Tianyou murmured, stroking the head with squinted eyes.

This pet didn’t act like it had just pet-level intelligence.
