Chapter 39: The Code of the Undercity
update icon Updated at 2026/1/12 8:00:02

"Seth! It's Seth again! His strength is already godlike! Ah~~~ Even if he's an older guy, he's still so handsome! Ah~~~" Sister Luo passionately announced how masked Seth had won the match—the Flower Thief was no match at all! Next came a brute-force clash that shook the entire arena like an earthquake!

Jester Bull vs. Cave Lord! Two power-type warriors with zero finesse—just pure collision, head-on smash, and raw bombardment! It was all about who was tougher!

"Tch, so boring." I wasn't into matches that were pure muscle with no skill.

Still, even here, Jester Bull kept his goofy eyes—that was the only comic relief in this tedious fight.

Senior Sister and Sulia weren't beside me; they'd gone to the competitors' prep room downstairs. This sudden ease made me oddly restless...

"Princess! Princess!"

"Hm?" I felt drowsy.

"Feyn's match is at a critical moment!" Bethedral patted my shoulder from behind.

"Hm... Huh???" I jumped up from my seat. Oh god, I'd actually fallen asleep watching Jester Bull and the Cave Lord's endless stalemate!

On the arena floor, Feyn Senior stood in black armor—the Armor of the Fallen Lady Angel! Her opponent was a giant slime!

Though the slime couldn't hurt her much, this Slime Kowalski was freakishly resilient and huge—her sword cuts healed instantly!

Senior Sister's armor had insane defense, but so what? If she couldn't wound her opponent, she couldn't win!

"Go, Old Skye!"

"Crush that pretty knight!"

Demons cheered crudely for the slime—not because they backed it, but for reasons obvious to all.

The slime spewed thick purple gas.

Senior Sister was caught off guard, inhaled deeply, and her movements slowed.

"Senior Sister..." No way—could she really slip up here?

The slime's soft body sprouted tentacles.

Snap! Snap! Snap! They wrapped her sluggish limbs tight!

"Senior Sister!"

"Ah—!" Bound suddenly, she let out a long, involuntary coquettish cry—as if she'd suppressed such sounds for ages. Her face flushed crimson, brows furrowed slightly, snow-white legs straining against the tentacles.

I worried, yet felt dazed. My strong-willed Senior Sister... tied up... blushing? Acting shy...?

The slime couldn't pierce her armor, so it yanked her in and swallowed her whole.

"Mmph... Hnn..." Suffocating, she groaned softly, face flushed. Her armor exposed thighs, navel, and part of her chest—not overly revealing. This Divine Artifact shifted with dark primordial force: more coverage meant stronger defense; more exposure meant terrifying attack boosts!

"Slime Old Skye's using suffocation to force Miss Feyn to surrender! She'd have to kneel and beg! Will the young lady kneel to a slime? Biggest upset ever! She'll lose the match and her dignity! This is... huff huff..." Loyning grew wilder with excitement.

"Senior Sister, Feyn Senior!" Bound by my princess role, I could only whisper prayers.

Her armor shrank further, her expression growing more alluring.

"Is... is Old Skye melting her armor? Truly worthy! Winning while giving fans a show! How long can she last? Her armor's almost gone!"

"Ah—!" She screamed—a torrent of dark power erupted from her like soft black blades.

Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!

The blades sliced rhythmically, shredding the slime instantly!

Silence fell over the arena.

Feyn Senior landed slowly, dark power lifting her. Only a tiny black bra and minimal lower armor remained. Her starry black eyes gleamed, face flushed, breathing hard—yet radiating fearsome dark energy.

I was stunned. Her dark power dwarfed her light power! What... was happening?

I recalled Witch Esther's words to her: Xueno had said she didn't want Senior Sister falling into darkness for her sake!

What secrets hid beneath her glorious Temple Knight facade?

The slime's pieces reassembled, but small bits vanished—the reformed body was much smaller.

"Y-young lady, mighty! I surrender! My body'll vanish if we continue!" the old slime cried.

"The winner—Tianlin Feiyan!" Loyning shouted!

"Roar—!!!" The arena erupted. As a newcomer, Feyn got boos—but endless cheers too.

"Take a short break! Afternoon semifinals: Sulia vs. Jester Bull, Tianlin Feiyan vs. Seth!"

Finally, the match deciding my fate tonight was coming.

Afternoon's first match: Sulia vs. Jester Bull.

The fight I'd slept through—Jester Bull had won.

But Sulia waited alone on the field. Jester Bull never arrived.

Restlessness spread.

Suddenly, Loyning spoke: "Ladies and gentlemen! Breaking news: Lord Jester Bull has forfeited! Queen Sulia wins!"

"Huh???"

"Forfeit? Why?" My body tensed. This meant Senior Sister lost our bet! I stomped. "Lodis!"

The pink single-tailed girl in white robes, red scarf, and black veil appeared instantly.

"Investigate this now!"

"Your Highness, I already have," Lodis said, kneeling.

"Huh? Already?" I gaped. Her intel speed was insane! Hmm? From my angle, a flash of color between her legs... too dark to see—black? Had she really switched?

Lodis ignored my stare, serious: "Sulia persuaded Jester Bull to forfeit in a dark corner. She offered a magical image of someone's bunny girl outfit. Since he couldn't beat her anyway, he happily agreed."

"Someone..." I frowned, eyes shut, trembling. "Who was it?"

"The voice was too quiet to catch."

"Bethedral! You heard! Sulia cheated—disqualify her!" I yelled.

"That won't work," Bethedral smiled.

"Won't work? Why?"

"Ahahaha, Princess, don't pretend. This isn't the human world. Demons thrive on deceit and betrayal. In our Undercity, schemes and scams are normal—demon law. Even you can't question it."

"What..."

"What? Do you really not know?" Bethedral eyed me coldly, suspiciously.

Cold sweat broke out. "Ahaha, of course I know! I just felt bad for Jester Bull! I was looking forward to him teaching me!"

Oops—I'd blurted something stupid.

"Oh? I'll convey your feelings to Lord Jester Bull!" Bethedral grinned.

"No need!!!" I shouted, blushing and stomping.
