Ye Wen was attending such a high-end banquet for the first time. Even after living in a wealthy household for nearly a month, she couldn’t name half the dishes. Many were completely unfamiliar to her.

Everyone here had their own hidden agendas. No one was simply here to eat.

Luo Liangjian led Ye Wen to a corner table and started eating without hesitation. This surprised Ye Wen, yet it felt oddly fitting. A rich young master actually sitting down to enjoy food at such an event? But for the Luo Liangjian she remembered, it made sense—he never missed a chance to stuff his mouth.

Seeing Luo Liangjian so casual, Ye Wen dropped her pretenses too. She began sampling exotic dishes she’d never seen before. At first, she took small, careful bites. Soon, she was shoveling food straight into her mouth.

Luo Liangjian watched, genuinely startled. This seemingly quiet girl ate with zero hesitation. And she showed no embarrassment at a grand banquet like this. He’d thought only he could pull that off.

Ye Wen had taken painkillers before arriving, so her stomach didn’t ache. With all the colorful, fragrant dishes before her, her appetite surged. She wanted to devour everything on the table.

Sadly, a girl’s stomach was tiny. She was stuffed within minutes. Luo Liangjian, meanwhile, didn’t look half-full. He casually tossed several slices of foie gras into his mouth.

So unfair! Ye Wen stared at him, longing for her old stomach capacity. Even if it couldn’t match his, it had been two or three times larger than this. Monthly cramps made her full too quickly… Being a girl was such a hassle! she grumbled inwardly.

Luo Liangjian felt someone watching him. He turned to see Ye Wen giving him a wistful, almost resentful look. Panicking, he thought he’d offended her by ignoring her while eating. He swallowed his food, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and asked, “Uh, what’s wrong? Bored?”

Ye Wen pouted and sank into a nearby armchair. “It’s fine…”

When a girl says that, she’s definitely not fine! Luo Liangjian immediately pulled out his PSP and handed it to her. “Bored? Play this.”

Ye Wen took the PSP with a puzzled expression. Luo Liangjian assumed she didn’t know how to use it. “See, this button turns it on. These arrows control movement…” he explained quickly.

Her confusion wasn’t about the controls. It was that Luo Liangjian—someone who treated his PSP like a treasure—would lend it to her. How strange. Must be another perk of being a girl.

Ye Wen knew PSPs well. She smoothly navigated to the menu, launched Dynasty Warriors, and expertly slashed through enemy troops. Her skill left Luo Liangjian mesmerized.

He’d only recently downloaded the game and barely played it. Her mastery stunned him even more. What an unusual girl… Though a wealthy heiress, she had no airs about her. So approachable.

Time slipped away as Ye Wen played and Luo Liangjian watched while snacking. Soon, it was late.

“Wenwen, having fun with Liangjian?” Ye’s father approached, beaming. Clearly, his business deal was sealed.

“Huh? Going home?” Ye Wen looked up.

“Yep! Ha,舍不得 my Liangjian already? You kids should hang out sometime!” Mr. Luo boomed with laughter.

His teasing didn’t faze Ye Wen. They’d often played together before—she just hadn’t known his family was this rich.

“Sure, let’s hang out sometime,” Ye Wen said, patting Luo Liangjian’s shoulder.

Now Luo Liangjian was the one flustered. He blushed, stammering for words.

“Look at you! The girl isn’t blushing, but you are? Pathetic,” Mr. Luo teased.

“We should take our leave,” Ye’s father said.

“Absolutely! Let’s meet again soon!”

“Definitely.”

Ye Wen handed back the PSP and left, pulled along by her mother.

By 11 PM, Ye Wen was in the car, swaying gently with the motion. She drifted into sleep. Midnight meant nothing to her old self, but this body was exhausted. She napped soundly against her mother’s chest.

“Daughter asleep?” Ye’s father whispered.

“Mm.”

“Heh, let me get a good look at her.” He turned, studying Ye Wen’s face. “Hah… She hasn’t let me into her room since she grew up. Gotta cherish this.”

“If you lay a finger on her, I’ll cripple you,” Ye’s mother joked, half-serious.

“Nonsense! I just want to admire her… She’s so beautiful. That face—flawless even without makeup. Not a pore in sight.”

“Getting tired of me now?” she murmured.

“Ahem. You’ll always be eighteen in my heart.”

“Pfft. Liar.” She rolled her eyes, but smiled.

The car glided through trees to their villa gates. Two guards hurried to open them.

“I’ll carry her up,” Ye’s father offered.

“No funny business.”

“Don’t be ridiculous! That’s not a joke to make.”

“Old-fashioned. Your mindset needs updating,” she teased.

The butler, Liu, stood expressionless outside the car. He was used to their playful bickering.

Ye’s father carefully lifted Ye Wen. “Heh, she’s light.”

“Of course. My daughter has perfect proportions.”

Half-asleep, Ye Wen felt strong arms lift her, then gentle hands remove her boots and tuck her under warm blankets. Too tired to care, she surrendered to sleep.

Fantasy was sweet, reality cruel. By midnight, her stomach twisted in pain again. Worse than before. She couldn’t even roll over. Cold sweat soaked her forehead. No strength left to whimper—just ragged, pained breaths.

She guessed it was from the spicy banquet food she’d overeaten. Greed’s consequence!

The agony was so intense, she blacked out. At least she could sleep peacefully now—even if unconscious.
