"Dare to mouth off to me?!"
Pan Song bared his grotesque, gap-toothed grin. He’d expected a shut-in like Yan Lingxuan to cower at threats, but Yan just smirked with disdain—fueling Pan’s rage further.
*Bang!*
His fist slammed onto the cafeteria table. Plates rattled; water sloshed from cups.
"What’s going on here?!"
The balding headmaster stormed over, his glare sharp as he pinned Qi Jun’s group. He’d already decided they were at fault. Students and teachers ate here, so he’d noticed Qi Jun—a notorious troublemaker at Er Gao High—leading Pan and Xu Wentang to hassle freshmen.
His thick-rimmed glasses radiated sternness. The headmaster’s cold eyes swept the crowd, locking onto Qi Jun, Pan, and Xu. He frowned deeply at Qi Jun’s arms draped over two girls.
"Whatever you get up to off-campus, act like students here. This clinging nonsense is unacceptable."
Qi Jun could ignore him, but the two seniors couldn’t. Blushing, they pushed his hands away.
"Headmaster, we were just checking on the new students," one stammered.
"Yeah, do we look like random troublemakers?" Pan and Xu forced ugly, ingratiating smiles.
"Don’t play dumb with me."
He didn’t buy their excuses. But with more students gathering, he relented to avoid chaos. "Break it up. Finish lunch, rest, and prep for afternoon classes."
"Sure thing, we’re starving anyway," Pan chirped. The headmaster ignored him, turning to Bai Lingyue and Katherine.
"You’re today’s transfers, right? Come to me directly with any issues."
His expression softened—likely because they were pretty girls. But spotting Yan Lingxuan, the only boy at the table, his brow furrowed. Yan was another Er Gao problem student, just slightly less infamous than Qi Jun.
Su Fangwen opened her mouth hesitantly. Yan noticed but stayed silent.
After brief pleasantries, the headmaster left.
Yan caught Pan’s gaze—a sinister glare promising this wasn’t over.
"Are they... here to cause trouble?" Bai Lingyue tilted her head, puzzled.
Her innocent face was etched into Yan’s heart. *Valhalla Academy students are so pure!* he mused. *Should I transfer immediately? With my looks and smooth talk, snagging a girlfriend’d be easy—effortless, even!* (Kid, just jerk off and sleep it off. Don’t overthink.)
Afternoon classes flew by joyfully. "Fake-bitchy" Katherine kept "accidentally" brushing against Yan, making his heart race—and hers too, judging by her flushed cheeks. Bai Lingyue’s naive questions and angelic expressions soothed him; he always gave "proper" answers as her brother. Annoyingly, class rep Su Fangwen nagged him like a second mom.
To outsiders, Yan was peak *genjitsu*—a social butterfly radiating happiness. Envious glares followed him everywhere.
Naturally, after the cafeteria incident, his former shut-in squad cut ties again. *Traitor!* they seethed. *Hugging girls, winning the rep’s favor—he’s even more of a social butterfly than Qi Jun. Deserves to die a million times!*
...
After school, Yan’s group met Qi Jun’s crew just outside the gates.
Pan and Xu slunk forward with nasty grins, playing attack dogs. Qi Jun stood coolly, hands in pockets, posing like a monkey king.
Yan, Bai Lingyue, Katherine, and Su Fangwen walked together—three stunning girls flanking him. His ego swelled, though jealous stares intensified.
"We’ve been waiting, Yan Lingxuan."
"Seems you’ve had fun today," Xu sneered.
Yan shrugged off their malice. "Ignore them. Let’s go."
His words stung. Pan and Xu blocked their path, eyes narrowed, smirking.
"Good dogs don’t block roads!" Su Fangwen snapped, venom unmasked.
"Hmph. Shut up, bitch. Or should we strip you and take photos?" Pan and Xu leered, eyes roaming her body.
Su Fangwen’s face twisted with rage—ready to strike. A hand caught her arm.
"Such a pretty face shouldn’t wrinkle like a sixty-year-old’s when angry."
Yan’s light tone snapped her back. Her fury cooled slightly.
Even naive Katherine and Bai Lingyue sensed the threat. After a day together, they saw Su Fangwen as a friend—and her enemies as theirs.
Only 200 meters from school gates, students lingered to watch.
"Walk away. Unless you want injuries."
A cool line—but not from the protagonist.
Pan and Xu stared at quiet Bai Lingyue. Her words stunned them, then they burst into laughter.
"You? Honey, in bed, you’d still be the one getting hurt—"
Yan’s blood boiled. His angelic sister defiled! But he held back.
Bai Lingyue stepped forward. To ordinary eyes, nothing changed. But Yan saw it: soft white magic power mist swirling around her like living vapor.
Mid-laugh, Pan and Xu lost weight. Their toes lifted off the plastic pavers—then they flew backward, crashing down. (Plastic pavers: modern eco-bricks, heat-resistant and tough, with unmatched flexibility.)
"What the hell?" Qi Jun frowned. He’d sent them to drag Yan away while he handled the transfers.
The two writhed on the ground, pinned by invisible weight, faces crimson, unable to speak or rise. Su Fangwen’s anger eased slightly.
Qi Jun saw one transfer student approaching him—her eyes flashing violet...
...
"Bye! See you tomorrow..."
"Bye."
After teaching Qi Jun’s gang a lesson, Su Fangwen parted ways at the crossroads, satisfied.
Minutes later, Yan stood before his apartment building.
At his 22nd-floor door, he turned. Behind him smiled Katherine and wide-eyed Bai Lingyue.
"How long will you follow me?"
Before they could reply, the door opened. An OL-clad middle-aged woman peered out. She glanced at Yan, then the girls.
"Lingxuan, are these your girlfriends?"
"Do you think I have that charm?"
"Frankly? No."
Seriously! Even if true, don’t say it outright—it’ll shatter Yan’s tender heart into a million pieces~
