The same student had been attacked twice, making the entire incident clearly targeted at Mechanical Department students. Even Lu Yun began doubting his own judgment.

“Professor Lu, your student—our junior roommate—is in critical condition. How can you sit there so calmly?” In Lu Yun’s office, Monster Girl and Silent Sword sat across from him. None had expected this turn of events.

As he spoke, Lu Yun pondered where his judgment had faltered. “Though the situation is unclear, I’m certain of one thing: that boy is safe.”

“How can you be sure?”

“The hospital attack caused far more commotion than the previous three. Clearly intentional—to draw attention. Right after, a new assault happened elsewhere. No victims, but fierce fight marks were left behind.”

“Conclusion?”

“Someone rescued that boy from the hospital first.”

Silent Sword frowned in confusion. Monster Girl also found it hard to believe. The hospital was heavily guarded. The time window was short. And the fifth attack site was quite far away. Altogether, it seemed unrealistic.

“To snatch a living person straight from the hospital, right under everyone’s noses? He’s no ghost. This is probably… wait…” Monster Girl paused mid-sentence, recalling someone in the academy who could do this. “A ghost? No way?”

“Hard to say. So I need both of you to come with me to the Arcane Library now to confirm.”

Inside the Arcane Library, Zhao Yuehan sat quietly at the admin counter, silently reading a paperback. When the group was about five meters away, she suddenly looked up. “He’s already left.”

“Huh? We haven’t even asked anything yet?” Monster Girl blinked. Could it be true, as rumored—that this girl was truly an Oracle?

“No need to speak. I already know the reason,” Zhao Yuehan replied calmly.

To be thorough, Lu Yun confirmed: “So, you rescued Ouyang Tao, and he’s left the Arcane Library, correct?”

“Yes.” Zhao Yuehan nodded slightly. “He saved me too.”

Hearing this, the three finally breathed a sigh of relief. Though details were unclear, Ouyang Tao was safe.

“Please help him.” Zhao Yuehan spoke up. “He chose to fight.”

“Fight? What do you mean? You can’t be saying that kid wants to duel the attacker alone?” Monster Girl grew anxious. Silent Sword frowned beside her—for someone with little combat experience, this was reckless.

“No, this is perfect!” If Ouyang Tao was alive and preparing for a full-scale battle, the killer would strike again. Most importantly, the target was almost locked down. “Monster Girl, go to the warehouse immediately. Check if Ouyang Tao withdrew any materials, and how much.”

“Understood.” Monster Girl sprang into action.

“Silent Sword, head to the weapon testing grounds right away. Ouyang Tao must be at one of them. Stay hidden and keep him in sight.”

Silent Sword nodded and set off instantly.

This time, Lu Yun was betting everything on Ouyang Tao. If this failed again, he wouldn’t be able to answer for it himself.

“Thank you, classmate Zhao Yuehan. Rest assured, Ouyang Tao is my student. I’ll ensure he comes to no harm,” Lu Yun promised.

“I’m counting on you.” Zhao Yuehan lowered her head to the book again.

But her mind was nowhere near the pages.
