54. My Turn

Cobbling things together?

A weakness...

Night Frost... understood!

The reason this thing moved so slowly was simple. This body couldn’t unleash the hands’ full power.

If they used any more power, the body would collapse. Without a host, this thing probably couldn’t move at all.

That brain wasn’t simple either. It controlled this body, but it shared the same origin as the hands.

Night Frost couldn’t destroy it, so she set it aside for now.

How had those hands gotten up here before?

Night Frost narrowed her eyes, recalling how those massive hands had torn open space.

Back then, the tumors on the ground had formed a ladder and carried the hands upward.

Their vines had gathered into arms and support points...

Earlier, when Night Frost stabbed at the body, those vines had surged out to protect it.

The brain had also drawn upon the hands’ Abyssal Aura to block the Black Flame Night Frost created.

This body was fragile, yet it was the core that allowed those massive hands to move.

She felt a little sorry, but Night Frost might have to handle Andi’s body rather roughly.

This thing was undoubtedly an Ultimate.

Even under Night Frost’s assault, it remained completely at ease.

A vast amount of Abyssal Aura enveloped its entire body. Night Frost could barely break through its defenses.

But if she recited the Magic Spell Crimson had given her, she could touch the threshold of Ultimate as well.

She might be able to tear this body apart.

“Finished thinking? You shouldn’t let your mind wander during a fight.”

At some point, the monster had appeared directly before Night Frost.

She tried to dodge, but Array Patterns lit up beneath her.

They were formed entirely from condensed Abyssal Aura.

Dozens of chains burst from the Array Patterns, binding Night Frost in place.

Meanwhile, the enormous hands slowly pressed down toward her.

Too late...

“Restrictions released, Magic Armor bloom! The journey of the past extends to the silver river. At life’s end, its splendor is finally revealed...”

Night Frost swiftly finished reciting the Magic Spell.

Past and future reflected within the Magic Stone on the bracelet around her wrist.

Just as the hands touched her skin, an immense surge of Mana shattered the chains and blasted the hands away.

Night Frost seized the chance and skimmed across the ground.

Three-colored Mana formed her broad sleeves. Flames condensed into dragon horns as long as her forearms.

Blended light flickered within her eyes.

Night Frost’s transformation didn’t surprise the monster much.

It seemed to have seen her like this before.

Sensing the aura of an Ultimate from Night Frost, it couldn’t help bursting into laughter.

“So this is your full strength... How weak.”

The monster’s Abyssal Aura still weighed heavily on Night Frost’s chest.

She had clearly touched the threshold of Ultimate, yet she could still feel the gulf between them.

Night Frost drew her three-colored Spear.

The instant it emerged, silver light replaced the Black Flame and CrimsonGoldFlame.

That silver light wasn’t any kind of flame.

Yet Night Frost felt it could pierce through the Abyssal Aura.

The Magic Stone on her chest throbbed faintly.

This Spear was Night Frost’s chance.

“Grant flame to the dragon, grant Inferno to my hand! Tear apart the shackles of life!”

“Incinerate all things! Let every strike be fatal! Inferno, burn all to ruin here...!”

A layer of Black Flame enveloped the silver Spear.

Crimson Gold Flame surged from beneath the earth and struck at the monster first.

But the massive hands gently brushed the ground, and the flames vanished below.

Yet it wasn’t over.

Black Flame crashed down from the heavens.

The lingering CrimsonGoldFlame in the air became fine needles, stabbing toward the living brain.

The CrimsonGoldFlame could burn the mind, but it probably couldn’t destroy the consciousness within that brain.

That wasn’t Night Frost’s goal anyway.

She only wanted to disrupt it.

Black Flame swallowed the Crimson Gold Flame.

The massive hands drew upon the Abyssal Aura throughout their body to block Night Frost’s Black Flame.

But while the monster mobilized its Mana, the CrimsonGoldFlame hidden inside pierced the living brain.

The monster’s body stiffened slightly.

This was the opening Night Frost had envisioned.

She would gamble all her stamina and Mana on this single strike!

The silver spearhead tore through the Black Flame.

It broke through layer after layer of Abyssal Aura and plunged into Andi’s corpse.

The silver Spear exploded.

The surrounding Black Flame surged inside, compressed to its absolute limit within Andi’s corpse, then detonated.

Pitch-black Spears burst from Andi’s body in every direction.

Even if the monster reacted now, it was already too late.

That brief opening was enough for the Black Flame to reduce Andi’s corpse to ashes.

Night Frost released her empowered state and collapsed weakly to her knees.

A trace of unease still throbbed in her chest.

But... that thing had clearly been dealt with.

“Do you truly think... you won?”

The voice rang with perfect clarity inside Night Frost’s mind.

She frantically looked around.

Only then did she realize this tiny space was filled with Spirit Threads.

What exactly had Night Frost defeated just now?

A figure emerged once more from within the flames.

That thing stood there, and Andi’s corpse remained completely unharmed.

Night Frost swallowed hard and stepped backward.

But the curtain of light behind her had disappeared.

An endless Abyss stretched beneath her feet.

She tried to spread her wings, only to realize it was already too late.

“I didn’t expect you to be this strong.”

“If that last attack had been real...”

“Once your consciousness reaches the bottom, your brain will die as well.”

“But I certainly don’t mind taking your body.”

Li Dogegg and Eye Orb sat beside the surviving little Sorceresses.

Following Night Frost’s instructions, they watched over those who had survived.

“Do you think Night Frost can win?”

Li Dogegg sounded uneasy.

It had a contract with Night Frost. If Night Frost died, Li Dogegg would die as well.

Eye Orb shook his head.

He didn’t know either.

“That thing is the strongest enemy I’ve ever seen.”

“Even with the strength Night Frost used to stop that heart, she still might not win.”

“But if Night Frost wanted to escape, she should be able to.”

Eye Orb was also worried about Night Frost.

But he didn’t have the strength to face that monster.

“What if she doesn’t want to run?”

“Or what if she can’t?”

Eye Orb froze and fell silent.

Night Frost truly might refuse to flee.

And if the monster was powerful enough, she might not be able to escape.

“I can feel her aura weakening. She’s almost at her limit.”

“But I can’t return to my familiar space.”

Li Dogegg told Eye Orb everything it sensed.

There were only two possible reasons it couldn’t return to the familiar space.

Either Night Frost had sealed it herself, or an external force was interfering.

When they had separated earlier, Li Dogegg could still return.

But just now, their connection had weakened.

Li Dogegg had lost the ability to enter the familiar space.

Something had almost certainly happened to Night Frost.

“I want to find her. You do too, right?”

“She probably doesn’t have much time left.”

Li Dogegg looked at Eye Orb.

After a moment of silence, Eye Orb nodded.

But if they went, they would return to their original problem.

They weren’t strong enough.

Eye Orb glanced at the little Sorceress’s corpse on the ground.

If possible, he truly didn’t want to do this.

The little Sorceress had been killed by the shockwave. Her internal organs had been reduced to pulp.

Yet her body looked barely usable.

As long as Eye Orb removed her eyes and connected his nerves to her brain and spinal cord, he could barely control her body.

“Let’s go. This will be faster.”

Eye Orb forced out a few words using the body of the nameless little Sorceress.

Li Dogegg didn’t hesitate and landed directly on her shoulder.

“If she were still alive, I could use her Magic Stone.”

“Unfortunately...”

Eye Orb quickly familiarized himself with the little Sorceress’s body.

He moved her limbs, progressing from walking to running in only half a minute.

Eye Orb had changed bodies many times, so adapting was easy.

Still, this body was truly awful.

It was barely usable at best.

Li Dogegg pointed out the direction.

Eye Orb controlled the little Sorceress’s body and advanced into the depths of the darkness.

“Where did their fight take them?”

Eye Orb ran for a long time before Li Dogegg told him to stop.

It could sense Night Frost’s aura.

Beside her was another presence.

Its scent made Li Dogegg nauseous and sent tremors through its body.

“Oh? Two little mice have arrived.”

The voice echoed through the darkness.

As it faded, two enormous hands slammed down.

The little Sorceress under Eye Orb’s control threw herself forward.

Unfortunately, Eye Orb didn’t avoid the attack.

The little Sorceress’s lower leg was crushed into bloody pulp.

Eye Orb’s sudden dive sent Li Dogegg flying from the little Sorceress’s body.

It rolled to a stop beside a pair of brown boots.

Li Dogegg raised its head and saw Night Frost.

It was about to speak when it met her unfocused, dark-golden eyes.

Something was wrong with Night Frost.

Her soul was extremely weak.

It was so faint that it could disperse at any moment.

Countless Spirit Threads wrapped around her body.

Their source was the brain belonging to those enormous hands.

Li Dogegg had done the same thing before, so it understood perfectly.

“You’re trying to steal her body?”

Li Dogegg glared viciously at the monster.

Using Andi’s vocal cords, the monster slowly spoke.

“You’re very clever, but there’s no reward.”

“Hmm. I can sense an aura connecting you to her.”

“You’re her familiar, aren’t you?”

“Don’t worry. As long as you obediently remain her familiar, I won’t harm you.”

“Consider it an act of mercy toward both of you.”

After hearing the monster’s words, Li Dogegg fell silent for a moment.

“All right. I’ll leave...”

“Like hell I will!”

“I signed a contract with her, not you!”

“I might hate her, but I lost.”

“And losers naturally accept their punishment.”

“Besides, the things she calls punishment don’t even count as punishment!”

“And another thing...”

“Most of that body is mine!”

“Did you ask for my permission before trying to possess her?!”

The moment Li Dogegg finished speaking, it fell unconscious.

Its soul shot into Night Frost’s body with lightning speed.

Night Frost’s soul was weak.

Li Dogegg shared her aura, so neither her soul nor her mind resisted its entry.

Night Frost’s body was exceptionally resilient.

It was nothing like Li Dogegg’s tiny frame.

For such a small body, carrying an overly powerful soul only increased its burden.

By borrowing Night Frost’s body, Li Dogegg could perfectly control this portion of its power.

Li Dogegg had lost count of how many times it had borrowed Night Frost’s body.

At this point, it was second nature.

“Next... it’s my turn.”

“In the dragon tongue.”
