Dragons are the creatures with the greatest potential in this Abyss.
It is said that dragons already existed when the Abyss was first born. Dragonkind witnessed the gods’ rise to legend, their fall, and the rise and decline of this world.
In every age, dragons have existed.
Among them, the six Named Dragons were especially remarkable. The gods bestowed titles upon them, which were passed down through an unknown method.
Dragons who possessed a title could often reach realms beyond the limits of ordinary beings. The Magic Maidens of the mortal world called this realm the “Ultimate.”
On the surface, the Named Dragons were revered by all.
But in secret, plenty of people coveted them. Named Dragons were powerful, yet their bodies held countless benefits.
Everyone knew that Named Dragons possessed the power of the Ultimate. Therefore, no one dared provoke them lightly.
But what happened when a Named Dragon died, and another young dragon inherited its title?
The instant a young dragon received a title, it gained an extremely high foundation from birth.
The elves called this the gods’ blessing. Among the Halfbeasts, it could be called the Barbarian King’s Gift.
It was something similar to those things.
But a young dragon was still a young dragon.
Even with an extraordinary foundation, its actual strength remained limited. At most, it would be at 【Cantata Two】 or 【Cantata Three】.
Even if it possessed strange and uncanny powers, it would still die under the pursuit of countless powerful enemies.
There truly had been a Named Dragon that died on this continent.
It was the creature known as the Dragon of Nature.
No one knew the exact reason. No one knew who had attacked it, either.
They only knew that, on that day, the young Dragon of Nature soared into the sky.
A sharp arrow pierced its wing. Blood dyed the wing red, and the Dragon of Nature plummeted from the heavens.
After that, the Dragon of Nature vanished without a trace.
Only a pool of blood remained, merging with the entire forest.
From then on, no new Dragon of Nature ever appeared.
Not long afterward, the elves suddenly emerged from the forest and “occupied” part of the Dragon of Nature’s territory.
At the same time, a rumor began circulating among the people.
The bodies of dragons contained the secrets of the Ultimate. If one killed a dragon and consumed its heart, one would be able to see the gates of the Ultimate.
Thus, creatures across the world began imitating one another. They wanted to kill Named Dragons while they were still young.
But most Named Dragons of that era were already in the Ultimate Realm.
To challenge them was no different from seeking death.
That continued until the fall of the previous Calamity Dragon.
A new Calamity Dragon was born among these hills.
Its life was exceedingly simple.
Every day, it drank from the rivers, gnawed on fruit trees, and occasionally ate a few bites of roasted wild boar in the mountain streams.
It admired the scenery of the mountains and rivers, doing absolutely nothing all day long.
However, it knew that it had been born with a mission.
It needed to reach the Ultimate. When the time was right, it would remember and fulfill that mission.
“Those foxes are here again. How annoying. (Dragon language.)”
It looked down at the foxes on the ground.
The foxes wore flattering smiles. Although it knew little of the world, it could still tell that they were no good.
But they brought it food, so it didn’t chase them away.
For some reason, news of its existence spread.
More and more people began observing it from the shadows.
It knew about all of them, but it couldn’t be bothered to interfere.
If it took action, this world would become a sea of flames.
All it needed was the will to do so.
In this world, where Mana and Abyssal Aura were both incredibly dense, no one could stop its flames.
Perhaps because they didn’t want it to run wild and turn the world into a sea of fire, no one came to provoke it.
Time passed slowly.
At least, that was how it felt to the dragon.
Its life was peaceful and comfortable.
Then, one day, a crack suddenly tore open across its face.
The pitch-black crack awakened its curiosity.
And so, it crawled inside.
At the end of the crack was light.
That light came from the sun over another continent.
The dragon poked its head through the crack and curiously studied everything in this world.
Although its body was enormous, it was still shorter than the towering buildings.
Cars flowed endlessly across the streets. Strange creations filled the roads, none of which it had ever seen before.
There were insects that ran incredibly fast without Mana driving them.
There were fountains that sprayed water into the sky.
Every human held a glowing square in their hands.
This world was completely different from the one it knew.
The dragon stepped entirely through the crack.
It stood in the middle of the street and looked around.
Then, it casually stopped a car and lifted it with one claw.
It peered through the windows.
The humans inside had curled into terrified balls.
After meeting its dark-golden eyes for only a few seconds, they fainted.
The humans on the ground descended into chaos.
They ran, screamed, and trembled in fear.
Its appearance seemed to have completely disrupted their ordinary lives.
Was it really that frightening?
Since this place didn’t welcome it, it could simply leave.
The dragon turned around and prepared to pass through the crack again, returning to the Mythic Abyss.
But at that moment, three figures flew over from the distance.
Their bodies radiated dense Mana.
In its world, creatures like them were called Sorceresses.
They were powerful, but not powerful enough to threaten it.
The dragon didn’t want a conflict with them.
Unfortunately, they attacked first.
A dazzling Azure Magic Cannon grazed its scales and left a white mark behind.
The dragon looked toward the Azure figure among the three people in the sky.
She had been the one to strike first.
The three Sorceresses immediately charged at it.
The dragon didn’t want to fight, but now it had no choice.
It swung its tail, and the three Sorceresses were sent flying.
Their strength wasn’t particularly impressive, but their teamwork was excellent.
Together, they were still capable of fighting it.
The dragon gently swayed its tail.
Its mountain-like body moved with astonishing agility beneath that slight motion.
The tip of its tail carved a black arc through the air.
With a deafening boom, the three Sorceresses flew backward like boats overturned by a massive wave.
They crashed into the buildings in the distance.
One Sorceress struggled to rise from the ruins.
Unwillingness and fury flickered in her eyes.
She tightened her grip around her Wand and launched another attack.
The dragon tilted its head slightly.
The spell flew past its scales, turning the vehicles and buildings along the street into a sea of fire.
The dragon looked at the Sorceresses.
A trace of helplessness flashed through its eyes.
It didn’t want to fight these people, but they had no intention of letting it go.
The Black Dragon no longer held back.
Black Flame burst from its body and transformed into a colossal black dragon.
It spiraled through the sky, unleashing deafening roars as it lunged toward the three below.
The three Sorceresses supported one another and scattered to both sides.
The black dragon formed from flames crashed into a building.
The immense heat vaporized the entire structure in an instant.
The three Sorceresses stared on with lingering fear.
That should make them quiet for a while, right?
Yet the battle once again fell into a stalemate.
The three Sorceresses exchanged glances, seemingly discussing something among themselves.
The dragon watched them as well, calmly analyzing the situation.
The Azure Sorceress had something inside her that it couldn’t identify.
Because of that object, her attacks were far more powerful than her actual strength suggested.
That was why her strength was second only to the Crimson Magic Armor Sorceress in the center.
As for the yellow Sorceress, she was simply very durable.
There was nothing else particularly remarkable about her.
No matter how they struggled, their efforts would ultimately be useless.
But the three of them said something.
The two Sorceresses behind the Crimson one gathered all their Mana into the Crimson Magic Armor Sorceress’s Wand.
Three colors merged into a massive force.
That attack gave the dragon a faint sense of danger.
It was about to dodge.
Then, silver-white wings drifted in from the horizon and joined together into solid, pure-white chains.
The dragon had nowhere to evade.
A Magic Cannon formed from multiple elements pierced through its scales.
Black Blood flowed from the wound and fell to the ground.
The detached blood ignited, and Black Flame spread outward without pause.
But the dragon’s wound healed quickly.
The three Sorceresses were already at the end of their strength.
With only a little effort, it could kill all three of them.
But where had those chains come from?
The dragon looked around.
At last, its gaze landed on a pure-white figure in the distance.
The aura erupting from her body was even stronger than the Crimson Sorceress’s.
She had already touched the threshold of the Ultimate.
Beside her stood a blood-colored woman.
The two of them joined forces and formed a long spear.
With the combined strength of the three below, the dragon could only struggle to defend itself.
Its strength was undeniably great.
But even it could lose against enemies of this level who were willing to fight without fear of death.
In the end, the enormous body of the dragon was pierced by the spear.
A dazzling Magic Cannon severed its head.
It was the second Named Dragon to die.
No one knew how much time passed.
The dragon heard the call of a human boy and opened its eyes from its long slumber.
It discovered that it had lost its body.
Its soul now resided within the only thing left of it—the heart.
There was no doubt that those humans had done this.
The dragon wanted to revive. It wanted revenge.
But at that moment, it didn’t possess even the slightest trace of power.
This human seemed to be a suitable vessel.
By borrowing his body and using the power within its heart, it could become the new Calamity Dragon.
Then, it would seize the body and allow the Calamity Dragon to return to the world.
That should have been how things went.
“Mm…”
It heard shouting from outside.
Li Dogegg woke up and cleared away the vines that had occupied its territory.
After Night Frost threatened and coaxed it into giving directions, the dragon naturally failed to find the place.
It then returned to the familiar space and began digesting the few drops of Blood Night Frost had given it.
Its original deep-blue skin was now covered in black patterns, giving it an unmistakably sinister appearance.
Its body had grown larger.
Its limbs had become thicker and stronger.
Its wings had also developed further. It no longer had to worry about being blown away by the wind while flying.
There was now a portion of Calamity Flame inside its body.
That was Black Flame, the symbol of the Calamity Dragon.
Night Frost and Li Dogegg were both approaching the form of a Calamity Dragon.
However, Night Frost’s transformation was more complete.
She carried the scent of a title, though her title was still incomplete.
If she obtained the rest of the title, she would undoubtedly become the new Calamity Dragon.
At that point, she would no longer be human.
Li Dogegg had seen an incomplete title for the first time.
But such a thing wasn’t unheard of.
Even the elves possessed imperfect blessings.
In its dreams, it recalled its past life and its present one.
It remembered many things.
It remembered the location of the crack.
It remembered the people who had killed it.
It remembered its defeat.
In the end, it had become what it was now.
Li Dogegg looked at Night Frost, its eyes filled with complicated emotions.
