Night Frost understood. This man wanted to turn every elf into an undead. He believed the moon could serve as the elves’ fortress, allowing them to safely survive this disaster.
Perhaps his original intention was the same as the Elderly Elf’s, yet also different.
The Elderly Elf sought a gateway to another world, hoping the elves could reproduce there and keep their bloodline alive.
This man, however, wanted to transform the elves of the present into undead. They would live forever upon the moon. In his eyes, this was another way to preserve the existing elven race.
But by his method, the elves would no longer be elves…
They would become undead, losing the gods’ protection and their fleshly bodies. They would lose the very essence of being elves, becoming mindless undead that anyone could command at will.
Most people would never be able to accept that.
“You’re wrong. But I’ll still bring the elven race back with me. (Elven)”
After erasing every trace of the Formation from the Elderly Elf’s mind and soul-space, Night Frost returned to her own body.
Perhaps she had been separated from it for too long. Her mind felt faintly exhausted.
The Dual Blade Sorceress told her this was normal. With Night Frost’s abilities, one good sleep would restore her completely.
But before that…
Everyone looked toward the commotion outside the city.
Undead of varying strength darted everywhere. Now that the Druid who had kept them suppressed was gone, they finally revealed their true nature.
They craved souls greedily. They wanted to feast, grow stronger, and become the next king capable of commanding the undead.
Fortunately, they were all worthless rabble for now. No undead had appeared at the level of the Undead Druid yet.
They posed no threat to the powerful figures inside the city. Still, the undead had to be cleared away quickly.
If another powerhouse like the Undead Druid appeared, they would have to waste a great deal of effort dealing with it.
The Dual Blade Sorceress acted first. The woman carrying the heavy sword followed close behind.
Night Frost wanted to help, but they left her there and told her to rest. After all, she had just left her body to save the Elderly Elf. They felt embarrassed asking her to fight again.
When the Elderly Elf saw them heading toward the city gates to clear out the undead, he asked them to search for traces of the arrow.
Once fired, that arrow wouldn’t return on its own.
The two women agreed.
Two surging waves of Mana erupted at once.
Blades and sword-lights flashed. In less than half an hour, they had cleared out all the undead near the fortress.
As for the undead farther away, they had no spare energy to deal with them.
Go any farther, and they would reach the forest.
They didn’t dare venture deep into that place either.
They hadn’t found any trace of the arrow. Who knew where the Elderly Elf had thrown it?
It couldn’t have flown into the forest, could it?
That would be troublesome.
During the earlier battle, those massive hands that had descended through space had been mysterious and terrifying. Even the Dual Blade Sorceress’s full strength had failed to cut them apart.
It was the Elderly Elf’s arrow that had bought her the opportunity.
That arrow was extremely important to the elven race. They would have to find a chance to discuss it with the Elderly Elf later.
Thus, the woman carrying the greatsword invited Night Frost and the Elderly Elf to dinner the following evening.
The Dual Blade Sorceress would come too, of course.
Night Frost didn’t refuse, and the Elderly Elf agreed readily.
Night Frost looked toward the gradually rising sun, then returned indoors with Lurie.
She really had worked hard. Night Frost had even woken her while she was resting.
Lurie didn’t mind. After all, this was to help the Elder. Helping the Elder was the same as helping herself.
He was the last powerful Elder of the elven race. If he died, the entire elven race would surely descend into chaos.
Li Dogegg went back to sleep.
The Eye Orb continued comparing the map from Night Frost’s father’s notes with the map purchased outside. It searched for the best route.
The next evening, Night Frost arrived at the tavern as promised.
The two Chapter Three-ranked women had reserved the entire tavern, so hardly anyone else was there.
The woman carrying the heavy sword handed menus to Night Frost and the Elderly Elf.
Night Frost couldn’t understand them, so she let the Elderly Elf order the food.
“There’s nothing particularly good here. The dishes depend mostly on what was hunted that day. Most of what’s written on the menu is just for show. (Elven)”
The Elderly Elf explained this softly to Night Frost.
It seemed the two women in front of her were deliberately making things difficult for her.
Night Frost suspiciously glanced at them both.
The Dual Blade Sorceress turned her head away, while the woman carrying the heavy sword looked at Night Frost with a faint smile.
Night Frost understood.
They had noticed something unusual about her and intended to test her.
But Night Frost had no intention of pretending. She would be leaving in a few days. There was no harm in telling them the truth.
Quite a few people already knew her identity. Adding two more wouldn’t matter.
“My name is Night Frost. I’m not from this world. I arrived here by accident, but I plan to leave within the next few days. (Elven)”
Having received the answer she wanted, the woman with the greatsword didn’t press Night Frost further. Instead, she introduced herself in Elven.
“My name is Kiskana. I’m skilled with a greatsword, and I’ve reached a high level in physical cultivation.”
“I don’t fight much these days. I usually handle the troublesome matters between the three races.”
“She’s Audiv. Her strength is impressive too. If we fought with weapons, I’d definitely lose to her.”
“Don’t let her sour expression fool you. She’s actually kindhearted. (Elven)”
Night Frost looked at Kiskana.
This was what she called “not being good at fighting”?
Night Frost had watched her clear out the undead. That woman had cut down entire swaths of them with a single swing.
If they truly fought, Kiskana was far stronger than Audiv.
Audiv glared fiercely at Kiskana after hearing that introduction.
She puffed out her cheeks. Her expression was completely different from the solemn look she wore on the battlefield.
She was rather cute.
“Now that everyone knows one another, I’ll tell you about my plan as well. (Elven)”
The Elderly Elf rubbed his brow.
His spirit was still somewhat weak. He withdrew his gaze from the two women across from him and turned toward Night Frost.
“I plan to migrate the elven race to her world. (Elven)”
Kiskana and Audiv both froze. Then, a hint of surprise crossed their faces.
They had heard before that the Elderly Elf intended to flee this world before the disaster descended.
Now that he had brought it up again, did that mean he had already found a way?
They remembered the Elderly Elf mentioning that, more than a decade ago, another human from another world had arrived here.
That person possessed astonishing skill in Formations and had earned the Elderly Elf’s praise.
However, his behavior was strange. He actually carried a coffin on his back.
That man had been Night Frost’s father.
The Elderly Elf hadn’t grown close to him—not because he was unwilling, but because the man didn’t understand the local language.
That had aroused a trace of suspicion in him.
After investigating through various channels, the Elderly Elf became certain that the man came from another world.
But when he tried to ask how the man had arrived here, the man disappeared.
While searching for him, the Elderly Elf unexpectedly discovered a cave excavated by human hands deep underground.
Mysterious Formations had been arranged inside. The Elderly Elf couldn’t break through them in a short time.
Still, he believed they contained a method of reaching another world.
So he began studying them day and night.
But Elven and the language of the surface world were different. The directions in which their Formations developed were different as well.
Because of that, the Elderly Elf made little progress.
That changed when he met Night Frost.
Night Frost also possessed considerable skill in Formations. To reach such a level at her age, she could only be called a genius.
She was also a traveler from another world, and she had come here to find someone.
Perhaps Night Frost could break the Formation.
The Elderly Elf’s guess had been correct.
Night Frost truly possessed the talent, and she had obtained a map leading to another world.
After hearing everything, Kiskana and Audiv finally understood the situation.
Night Frost’s arrival had greatly accelerated the Elderly Elf’s migration plan.
Originally, the three of them had each proposed a plan of their own.
They hadn’t expected the Elderly Elf to advance the farthest.
“The disaster is about to descend. Migration may be a good choice, but… (Elven)”
Kiskana looked toward Night Frost.
They knew nothing about the other world. They didn’t know whether it would accept them.
Besides, the two worlds had different cultures and different races. Friction and arguments were inevitable.
Night Frost was also considering another problem.
If only the elven race moved, it would be easy enough to explain. Aklatia could provide them with a decent sanctuary.
But if an entire city were to migrate, she would have to inform Blade and the others.
Before that, however, it was still unknown whether they could pass through the Abyssal Tunnel.
“If you’re confident you can transport them there, I can persuade them.”
“But think carefully. My faction is hated by everyone in that world. They all want me dead.”
“If you come with me, you’ll definitely face danger. (Elven)”
Night Frost had made herself perfectly clear.
There would be danger after they left as well.
“At least there’ll be a chance of survival.”
“Here, we’re facing certain death. Aside from those ancient dragon species with honored names, we already have to struggle against those vines.”
“And this is only the beginning of the disaster… (Elven)”
Night Frost fell silent.
They weren’t wrong.
The mere beginning of the disaster had nearly killed her here. As time passed, they might truly face a hopeless situation.
Her world was filled with schemes and struggles. People would certainly die there.
But there would probably be plenty of survivors too.
The Twelfth District desperately needed reinforcements.
If the elves went to the surface world and maintained a friendly attitude, they could cooperate against the other districts. That would allow the Twelfth District to remain undefeated for a time.
Each district had only one Chapter Three-ranked powerhouse.
With the elves’ arrival, their side would have five.
But great trees attracted the wind. This matter still needed careful consideration.
“You’ll have to decide for yourselves. I’ve already given the map to him. (Elven)”
Night Frost tossed the decision back to the Elderly Elf and the others.
The food arrived at that moment.
It was a huge platter of Monster meat. Night Frost didn’t know what kind of Monster it had come from, but the smell alone was incredibly tempting.
She couldn’t hold herself back any longer and decided to start eating.
Li Dogegg also caught the scent from inside the spatial realm. He crawled out through Night Frost’s familiar space, intending to steal a bite.
Night Frost caught him red-handed.
“You’ll get your share later.”
With that, Night Frost stuffed a large chunk of Monster meat into her mouth.
A rich, satisfying feeling filled her.
Every bite was bursting with the fragrance of meat and sauce.
This was the best and most comfortable meal she had enjoyed since arriving in this world.
