The Array Pattern on the bow’s surface burst into a profound radiance. It held the Elderly Elf’s life’s work, yet was now covered in countless tiny cracks.
The Elderly Elf’s arms were just like the bow. His aged, withered skin was covered in fine Blood marks, with Blood squeezing out from each one. Soon, those Blood marks spread across his entire body. The ceaseless flow of Blood turned him into a “Blood Elf.”
When the Elderly Elf released the bowstring, the arrow shot forth like a streak of light. Meanwhile, the verdant bow crumbled into dust in his palm. His arms also snapped under the arrow’s force.
But he had prepared for this long ago. Healing Formations had already been attached to both his arms. They immediately began repairing his hands, which were now as limp as mud.
Wrapped in a cyan radiance, the arrow tore through the sky with ease. With unstoppable force, it pierced the massive hand before them, along with the undead Sorceress trapped inside it.
The undead Sorceress looked down at the bloody hole in her chest. She struggled twice, but after being pierced by that arrow, there was no saving her.
As expected of the Elves’ secret treasure. It had pierced through a massive hand containing Ultimate power with ease, directly eliminating the crisis of facing an Ultimate-level boss.
Night Frost looked at the Spear in her palm. Both weapons had the guaranteed-hit attribute. So why was that arrow so powerful, while her Spear could only serve as a control skill? Throwing it out wouldn’t even finish off an enemy.
After taking the arrow, the undead Sorceress leader’s entire body began to collapse. She hadn’t expected to be killed again only seconds after awakening, before she’d even sorted out her consciousness.
After piercing the massive hand, the arrow flew straight into the sky beyond it. No one knew where it had landed.
The undead Druid looked at the scene and felt that something was wrong. There were three people in 【Chapter Three】, but he wasn’t strong enough to deal with all of them alone.
Still, they couldn’t keep him here.
The undead Druid glanced at the Elderly Elf lying on the ground, both arms broken. After summoning a large number of undead, he turned into a mass of black mist and vanished amid the chaos.
These undead weren’t very strong. The Dual Blade Sorceress could clear out a large swath with a single slash.
Night Frost simply watched from the side. She didn’t want to get too involved in their conflict. From time to time, she lent the Elderly Elf a hand and treated his wounds.
The black mist silently drifted behind the Elderly Elf. Night Frost felt the temperature nearby drop several degrees.
It wasn’t an illusion. Undead carried a heavy chill, and places where they gathered were truly cold.
But something still felt wrong.
The undead were clearly over by the Dual Blade Sorceress…
“Something’s wrong… (Elven)”
The Elderly Elf had the same feeling. It was an instinctive warning of danger. A faint ache throbbed between his brows, and his sense of crisis was even stronger than Night Frost’s.
By now, he could be certain that something was coming for him. Most likely, it was the undead from earlier.
The undead Druid hadn’t left?
Had he concealed himself with some special method, only to strike at the Elderly Elf?
“Watch out!”
Night Frost saw the black mist coiling around the Elderly Elf’s neck. She was so startled that she shouted in her hometown dialect.
Crimson Gold Flame instantly rose from her palm and swept across the Elderly Elf’s neck.
Like the undead from before, this one feared Night Frost’s flames. They specifically burned spiritual power and souls, bringing unbearable agony to undead.
They were the undead’s natural nemesis.
The black mist condensed into a single mass, like a venomous snake lurking in the shadows. It dodged Night Frost’s cautious attack, which she had restrained for fear of harming the Elderly Elf.
Then it shot straight toward the Elderly Elf’s brow.
The Elderly Elf wanted to drive the undead away, but his hands were useless. He couldn’t stop it from invading his soul.
Then he could only defeat it with his own soul…
The Elderly Elf entered his mind first. He drew upon his spirit and began constructing barriers and defenses. He couldn’t let the Druid drive his soul out.
Night Frost watched the scene and knew she would have to call over the Elf who specialized in creating barriers again.
Her flames hadn’t undergone any qualitative change after entering 【Chapter Three】. But as her realm grew, so did her understanding of fire.
Even so, how could she distinguish between souls that had become tangled together?
She needed to find time to study soul and spiritual power properly. Whether such knowledge even existed was another question.
Night Frost pulled over the resting Elf. Lurie followed as well. Night Frost didn’t know where the other Elf lived, so she had no choice but to wake Lurie too.
Lurie and the Elf looked at the Elderly Elf on the ground. They also saw the Dual Blade Sorceress in the distance, surrounded by a mass of undead confronting her.
They immediately realized that something had happened to the Elderly Elf.
The Elf hurriedly enveloped his soul in a barrier. But the struggle within was far too fierce. She probably couldn’t hold it for long.
The instant the barrier took shape, Night Frost fired a burst of flame into the Elderly Elf’s mind.
The flames ignited and began devouring the undead Druid inside his spirit. But the barrier dispersed far too quickly.
After a few seconds, Night Frost swiftly pulled the flames back.
“Two more times. (Elven)”
Night Frost looked at the Elf who had created the barrier. The Elf understood immediately and created another barrier around the Elderly Elf.
Night Frost injected her flames again.
After repeating the process several times, the Elf creating the barriers collapsed first. Creating so many barriers had exhausted her Mana ahead of time.
Night Frost also stopped at the right moment.
This was all they could do. What happened next would depend on the Elderly Elf himself.
Inside the mental space, the Elderly Elf really wanted to curse.
He had been preparing to attack when a barrier suddenly descended, forcibly blocking his strike. After carefully identifying its aura, he realized it belonged to another Elf.
So he could only swallow his attack.
And what was even more infuriating?
Once the protective barrier descended, the flames squeezed inside.
The flames did burn the undead Druid’s soul, but the barrier was hardly sturdy at all.
The flames withdrew quickly, yes. But the barrier vanished even faster. The flames ended up burning him as well, worsening his already-fragile spirit and soul.
Thus, in the short few minutes just now, Night Frost’s flames had singed both spiritual bodies in the same place.
The two spiritual bodies rolled around in the fire together, desperately trying to extinguish it.
But overall, the undead Druid had clearly weakened.
A few days ago, the Elderly Elf had encountered the Druid once. That battle had ended with him driving the undead Druid away.
This time, however, things were different. For some reason, the undead’s soul was considerably stronger.
Now, though, Night Frost’s flames had weakened the undead soul, while the Elderly Elf’s soul remained relatively vigorous.
Driving the Druid out was already a certainty.
The protective barrier outside no longer descended, and the flames no longer surged in. Those repeated attempts had probably exhausted the little ones outside.
That was fine. He could now fight without restraint.
The Elderly Elf had immersed himself in Formations for countless years. Naturally, his spirit and soul were formidable.
Though his age and the battle just now had weakened them somewhat, they hadn’t weakened by much.
The undead Druid was powerful, but he was still undead—an unrooted plant drifting in the wind. In a prolonged battle, he would clearly be the one to expend more strength.
The Elderly Elf used the same attack method as those from the lower realms. Using Spirit Threads as weapons seemed to be the most basic application of spiritual power.
Of course, the Elderly Elf had more than that. If he had nothing else after living for so long, how could the Elves have revered him as an elder?
His accomplishments in Formations went without saying. He had also conducted considerable research into the use of spiritual power.
Spirit Threads were the most basic application of spiritual power. But with a little external force, the Elderly Elf could tear his spirit into countless pieces—
Countless miniature Elderly Elves surrounded the undead before them.
Though they had become smaller, their strength remained the same. In this form, the Elderly Elf could control even more threads.
The threads wrapped around the undead.
The undead Druid was no inexperienced novice. He had been dead for more than a thousand years. Somehow, he had come to command so many undead.
He definitely had a trump card.
“You’re truly impressive… junior. I never expected a genius like you to appear. Even at my full strength, I can’t defeat you now. (Elven)”
He had remained inside the moon for an extremely long time.
Ever since becoming undead, he had constantly strengthened himself. He devoured life and merged souls, eventually reaching this realm.
His strength now surpassed what he had possessed in life, yet he was still no match for the Elderly Elf before him.
“But I still believe that my path is the right one. (Elven)”
He gave his body a light shake and produced a vast number of monster souls.
There were even human souls, Halfbeast souls, and Elf souls among them.
He stuffed some of the struggling souls into his body, replenishing the soul and spiritual power he had consumed.
“Now, let’s continue. (Elven)”
The Elderly Elf was shocked.
The undead had actually used other souls to replenish his own. This was the act of a thoroughly evil being.
“The hero I once admired wasn’t like this. (Elven)”
The Elderly Elf’s soul merged completely into one.
His dry, rough eyes were filled with Blood vessels. He still couldn’t forget the Druid who had extended a hand to him all those years ago.
That Druid had been so kind. He had cared so deeply for life.
He had once traveled far and wide for a single person’s life, searching for medicine to cure them.
He had once faced terrifying Monsters alone.
He had once saved the entire forest…
He had been a hero!
But now, he had stolen countless lives, refined them into undead, and devoured them at will as fuel for his own power…
“You’ve changed. You’re no longer the hero in my heart. (Elven)”
A trace of sobbing colored the Elderly Elf’s voice.
He slowly extended his hand, trying to grasp those rough palms from the past. But it seemed he could no longer reach them.
The dream of his childhood had shattered, destroyed by his own hero.
“If that’s the case, then I’ll defeat you and lead the Elves to survive! (Elven)”
The Elderly Elf charged forward.
His Spirit Threads extended outward, only for him to sever them himself.
Under his intricate manipulation, those threads condensed into distinct patterns.
And when those patterns gathered once more, they became…
A Formation.
