The gods of today had long since lost their former glory and majesty. Only instinct remained to drive them on. This shell, stripped of its soul, was hollow and powerless. And yet, even if a god was no longer truly a god, the power it once possessed was still far beyond what any mortal could ever reach.
This was one of Blood's sudden ideas. She carefully manipulated those threads, trying to plant her own will into the god's consciousness and make the god grant her a portion of its power.
The facts proved she had succeeded. The god began to pass power to her. That thread of power was like a gentle stream, slowly flowing into her body, taking root, sprouting, and merging with her own strength.
The blood-colored Magic Armor began to twist and change. The elegant crimson gothic dress bloomed like a rose in full flower, spreading open. The hem swayed lightly with her movements, carrying a strange sense of rhythm. Every pattern on it seemed to flow with dark red blood, flashing with an eerie glow.
Inside the Magic Armor, slender threads pierced into Blood's skin one after another. Under their draining and devouring, her skin turned pale and translucent, as if one could see the veins and blood flowing beneath.
“Right now... I feel amazing!”
The scythe in Blood's hand transformed along with the Magic Armor. The once plain and unremarkable scythe now gradually revealed its true form within the crimson light.
Its blade became long and razor-sharp, glowing with a dim blood-red sheen. Several crimson gems were embedded in the handle. From those gems, thorny vines shot out and wrapped around Blood's wrist, feeding on her blood.
Wouldn't she get anemia at this rate?
Night Frost cautiously stepped back two paces, her gaze locked tightly on Blood. She was full of curiosity, but even more than that, she was wary and on guard. Blood's transformation gave her a pressure she had never felt before. It was as if the one standing before her was no longer a mere Chapter Three, but a god.
She gripped her Spear tightly, its tip aimed at Blood, looking as if she were facing a deadly enemy.
“If you won't move, then I will!”
Before the words had even finished, Blood's figure had already rushed toward Night Frost like a phantom.
Night Frost's heart jolted. She immediately drew on all her strength to respond. But Blood's speed far exceeded her expectations. Like a streak of red lightning, she appeared before her in an instant.
Night Frost hurriedly swung her Spear, trying to block Blood's attack. But the moment it touched the scythe, the Spear was knocked away with ease and dissolved into flames. The immense force numbed her arms so badly she could barely keep hold of it.
Blood gave Night Frost no chance to breathe. Her scythe carved an arc through the air and went straight for Night Frost's throat. Night Frost quickly twisted aside to dodge, but the aftershock of the strike still sliced through her sleeve and left a fairly deep wound.
Blood instantly poured from the wound, staining Night Frost's Magic Armor red. She endured the pain and focused all her attention and thoughts on Blood.
She knew that if she kept responding this passively, she would be defeated by Blood.
She also knew this still wasn't Blood's full power. Blood had only just broken into the Ultimate Realm, and no one in the Ultimate Realm was weak.
That left only one possibility. She still hadn't learned how to properly use the power of the Ultimate Realm. And that was Night Frost's chance.
Black Flame had always been devastating in Night Frost's hands. No matter how much stronger Blood became, the Black Flame, like a blade that gnawed to the bone, could still injure her. But Blood wouldn't let it touch her so easily.
“Ultimate Realm... Ultimate Realm... Even if you've broken into the Ultimate Realm, your soul is still at that level. What's strong is your body, not your soul!”
Night Frost clenched the Crimson Gold Flame in her hand. This was her flame. If the Calamity Flame burned Mana and Abyssal Aura on the outside, then her flame burned what was inside.
But the intensity of the Crimson Gold Flame couldn't keep up with Night Frost's rate of advancement. And it didn't have traits similar to the Calamity Flame.
Night Frost had once tried putting Black Flame and CrimsonGoldFlame together. It looked like they were together, sure, but Black Flame still burned the outside, and Crimson Gold Flame still burned the inside. In plain terms, each burned its own thing.
To be honest, Night Frost only half understood this stuff. She wasn't familiar with it anyway. She was good at fighting. As for flame properties, she only knew the rough idea. If it worked, that was enough.
For problems like this, asking a professional was more reliable. But professional number one had been left behind by Night Frost in District Two. And professional number two was still fighting the shadow... oh, wait, professional number two seemed about done for. Its soul was about to return to Night Frost's head again.
Just as Night Frost had expected, even with Moon Owl's support, the Calamity Dragon couldn't hold on much longer. It wasn't because the Calamity Dragon was weak. It was because not a trace of energy remained in its dragon body. Facing the siege of so many Chapter Three and still killing four of them in return was already incredible.
The Calamity Dragon's soul returned to Night Frost's body. Night Frost didn't waste time and directly asked how to make the Crimson Gold Flame gain the traits of the Calamity Flame.
The Calamity Dragon thought for a moment. It recalled the past. It had been eating and drinking just fine, and then suddenly got wiped out. How was it supposed to know what traits its own flames had? And how would it know how to give those traits to Night Frost's Crimson Gold Flame?
“I don't know.”
That was the answer the Calamity Dragon came up with after thinking for a while.
Night Frost wanted to punch it twice. She had finally figured it out. Other than eating, drinking, and basic bodily functions, this guy knew nothing. If not for the title and the strength backing it up, Night Frost would've wanted to ask—
Miss, are you really the Calamity Dragon?
Blood's attacks grew sharper and sharper, and her presence climbed another step. This girl was still getting stronger. That aura had already far surpassed Ultimate. It was gradually taking on the scent and pressure of a god.
If she didn't deal with Blood now, Night Frost might have to start over again. Oh, right. This time there was no Illusory Glass. Whether she could even restart was still a question.
“Damn it, all in!”
Night Frost mixed the Crimson Gold Flame with the Calamity Flame. Just like before, the two flames still burned their own separate targets.
“Miracles happen when you hit hard enough!”
Night Frost slipped past Blood's scythe and poured all her Mana into both palms. The two flames actually showed faint signs of merging. That made Night Frost's heart leap with joy. Heat and pressure really were eternal truths.
And then...
“Boom!”
Night Frost relaxed for only a brief moment, and the pressure between the two flames shifted out of balance. The blast wave from the explosion instantly swept across the battlefield. It made Night Frost's Magic Armor snap loudly in the wind. She hurriedly steadied herself and stared at the center of the explosion. Flames soared there, and smoke filled the air.
Blood, who had been about to launch a sneak attack, was caught off guard and blown away by the sudden burst of fire. Black Flame burned her body. Crimson Gold Flame burned her soul. In that instant, a third of her soul was shaved away.
Night Frost wasn't doing well either. Even though she had pulled in the Calamity Dragon's soul as a shield in time, her own soul was still inevitably caught in the blast.
“How's that? Your Granny Frost's new move! I need to give it a cool name. Let's call it Buddha xx Lotus!”
“Uh, that's obviously plagiarism, isn't it?”
The Calamity Dragon complained. Wasn't that clearly some skill from that Xiao guy next door? Even if it looked similar and hit similarly, she couldn't just use the same name.
“Then let's change it. We'll call it Twin Heavens Blaze.”
“If you're happy, sure.”
Blood climbed out of the crater. She hadn't expected Night Frost's last strike to be that strong. But that was all. It was obviously Night Frost's trump card.
Blood chanted a Magic Spell and turned into a cloud of blood mist, circling around Night Frost. The blood blades turned to mist as well. In only two breaths, Blood marks spread all over Night Frost's body. She could feel that the rate of blood loss inside her body was wrong. Clearly, Blood was tampering with it.
Night Frost's blood dripped onto the ground and turned into black, abyss-like flames. The flames spread outward and unexpectedly blocked Blood's assault.
That said, Blood was still stripping Night Frost's blood away little by little. At this rate, she wouldn't even need to keep fighting. In just a few minutes, Night Frost would bleed dry.
Moon Owl was still fighting the last shadow, and Order was also entangled by two shadows. They might be able to break free, but they couldn't handle Blood in the Ultimate Realm.
Night Frost had only lasted this long because of the crimson ribbons. Otherwise, the Blood before her would've chopped her into minced meat long ago. Sure, Night Frost had fought Ultimate before, but that had been Azure!
The kind who'd be left panting even fighting Chapter Three without a Wand!
“Mmm... then let's do it one more time!”
Night Frost clenched the flames, trying to fuse the two powers again. But the movement was too obvious. Blood would definitely react. So during that time, Night Frost used the power of Order to guide the two flames and their two traits into complete fusion.
“Fuse for me!!”
The originally crimson-gold flame was now stained with a layer of gray-black. Its color shifted from bright to dark, becoming a deep dark-gold shade, like the cold and powerful eyes of a Black Dragon.
“It worked...”
Night Frost dragged her utterly exhausted body after using the Order Gemstone. Every step was heavy and difficult. The flame in her palm changed in an instant, turning into nine lifelike dragon heads. Each one opened a huge, gaping maw, as if ready to devour everything.
Night Frost stared fixedly at Blood. She knew these nine dragon-head flames were her final attack. She took a deep breath and poured all her remaining strength into them.
The flames streaked through the air, leaving blazing trails behind them. Wherever they passed, the air itself twisted from the heat. Blood raised her scythe with both hands, trying to cut the dragon heads down.
But Blood's scythe did not sever the dragon heads as she had expected. When it struck the dragons' bodies, it passed straight through them. And those flame dragons seized the chance and all drilled into Blood's mind.
The dark-gold flame, like a blade that gnawed to the bone, rapidly devoured Blood's soul. Blood's soul was only a tiny fragment cut from the “main body.” It couldn't even be called a true soul. Under the burning of those flames, she had no ability to break free from that bizarre dark-gold fire.
“But even if I die—”
In an instant, all the blood in Blood's body was drained into the scythe in her palm. The final syllable of the Magic Spell fell. The Crimson Scythe transformed into a reaper's scythe that harvested all things, split open the sky, and came crashing down toward Night Frost...
