14. The Abyss Wrought from Souls

Eight shadows stood before Illusory Glass. They had all received the message sent out by Blade’s shadow and rushed here. Their target was the Key on Illusory Glass.

But now, a heart-stopping fluctuation was spreading from her body. For one brief moment, those eight shadows actually didn’t dare move forward.

When the projection of Illusory Glass’s future fully merged with her, the girl’s figure vanished. In its place stood a woman with a slightly more mature charm.

As creations of a god, those eight shadows should have been carrying out the god’s grand resurrection plan. Hesitating here was simply absurd. So what if she controlled time? She was still only human, not a child of god. Her Mana would run dry eventually.

So the eight shadows moved as if they had planned it beforehand. They lunged at Illusory Glass at the same time.

Her slender jade-like fingers flipped a page of the book. The hand of time on the page suddenly slowed, and the speed of those eight shadows slowed with it.

Seeing this, Moon Owl stepped out from the firelight with a backhand motion. She pinned down Blade’s shadow and the shadows of Lujin Lushi. They had shown terrifying strength, but Chapter Three was still Chapter Three.

Moon Owl flashed in front of the eight shadows. A spiraling space unfolded and swallowed all eight of them in an instant. But just as everyone thought the shadows were about to be dealt with, a silver-white girl slowly descended from above.

A streak of ashen black surfaced in her hair. She raised the pure white Magic Stone in her hand.

“No magic here.”

“Time!”

The Mana in Moon Owl and Illusory Glass instantly stalled. Illusory Glass was affected the most. The Magic Armor on her body began to dissipate, and Moon Owl could clearly feel the Mana inside her draining away.

The hand on Illusory Glass’s page began turning again. The eight shadows pounced at her once more like starving tigers. But they were still inside the space Moon Owl had created. Even weakened, Moon Owl was still stronger than any one of them.

But only stronger than any one of them.

There were eight in total. As long as some of them held Moon Owl back, any one of the others could take down Illusory Glass.

“Tch. This is still my space!”

Moon Owl raised a hand. The surrounding space seemed to be torn apart by an invisible force. The gathered shadows were instantly blasted apart, and their tight encirclement was forcibly broken.

Then Moon Owl helped Illusory Glass up, intending to take her away from this place of trouble. But at that moment, a blood-red scythe fell from the air, carrying a dense Abyssal Aura.

Blood again, that bastard!

Because Blood used Abyssal Aura, she wasn’t affected by the spoken command at all. At this moment, she was actually fighting Moon Owl to a standstill.

The eight shadows also broke free from the restraints of space and rushed at Illusory Glass. One of them grabbed the Key at her waist, then immediately fled into the distance.

The other seven restrained Illusory Glass’s hands and feet and covered her mouth and nose, so she couldn’t kill herself or speak to rewind time.

“Father, grant us your great power!”

Night Frost sensed the enemy in the air and rushed over at once. She hovered in midair, her gaze fixed on the girl holding the silver-white Magic Stone. Her brows furrowed slightly. Illusory Glass had clearly said this girl would become an ally in the future, yet now she stood against Night Frost just like before.

“I do not exist within time. And I am not her. She is already dead.”

The girl seemed to know what Night Frost wanted to say. She abruptly tossed out those words. Night Frost possessed half an Order Gemstone herself, so she naturally understood the power of Order, and what that sentence meant.

“You killed her? How?”

The girl seemed willing to tell everything. She lifted her eyes, pure and without a trace of impurity.

“When big sister and Mother were away, I controlled the cultivation pod and took out big sister’s Magic Stone. Now it’s your turn, Sister Night Frost.”

Night Frost looked at the expressionless girl saying something so horrifying, as casually as if she were saying, I pulled out your oxygen tube while you weren’t paying attention. A chill ran down her spine. She definitely did not need a little sister like this.

“Why tell me? We’re enemies.”

“We are both artificial humans. Our essence is the same. Even if we awakened differently, you are still my sister. Father said I should get along well with my brothers and sisters. That is why I’ve spoken so much to you, Sister.”

Night Frost suddenly understood. She had the Order Magic Stone, and the girl before her was also one of the Order artificial humans. In that sense, Night Frost really was their older sister.

“I don’t want to fight with Sister, so can you give me that Magic Stone?”

Naturally, Night Frost refused. If she handed over the Order Gemstone, the girl would give it to the so-called god behind her. The consequences would be unthinkable.

“So Sister doesn’t want to give it to me. Then I’m sorry.”

The girl landed on the ground first, then slowly opened her mouth.

“Chains of Order.”

As the spell fell, the Magic Stone’s light erupted. It transformed into brilliant chains that wove into a precise net. These chains were not visible physical objects, but were condensed from invisible power of Order. They darted through the air, nimble and mysterious like spirits.

The Chains of Order danced in the air, ringing with crisp metallic clashes. They lunged at Night Frost without mercy. A sharp light flashed through Night Frost’s eyes. She swiftly drew a Spear from the flames. Its tip blazed with red-gold fire, and within that fire were strands of Black Flame, like a dark blaze that could devour everything.

When the Chains of Order touched Night Frost’s Black Flame, those seemingly indestructible chains began melting at once. The Black Flame’s corrosive power was terrifying. Like a greedy beast, it kept devouring the Order power within the chains, making their structure collapse bit by bit as their light dimmed away.

The instant the Chains of Order dissolved, Night Frost swept past with agile grace. Her movements were swift and elegant, carrying an indescribable calm and confidence.

As she moved, the dragon wings behind her suddenly spread wide, as if breaking free from a cocoon of darkness. They glimmered with a deep, shadowy light. With each breath she took, the wings beat lightly, stirring up a violent storm that made the surrounding air boil.

“No flying here!”

The wings behind Night Frost abruptly drilled back into her body. She froze for a moment, then barely steadied herself. She had been about to say, No Order here, but then remembered the last time she said, No resurrection here, the Mana in her body had been drained dry on the spot.

So she changed her target.

“No retreating here!”

The girl, who had been forced back step by step by Night Frost, suddenly stopped retreating. Night Frost’s Spear pierced into her lower abdomen, and black flames surged wildly.

“No injuries here!”

Night Frost’s Spear was forcibly disengaged. The girl’s wound healed at once. Black Flame burned over her body, yet it could not cause even the slightest harm. Just as the girl had said, no injuries were allowed here.

Night Frost narrowed her eyes. The two had fallen into a deadlock. She had originally thought she could finish the girl in a flash, but now neither of them could be injured. Neither could do anything to the other.

Boom!

While Night Frost and the girl were locked in stalemate, the sky suddenly darkened. Rolling lightning gathered in the clouds, like the wrath of a god about to pour down. At the same time, the sealing Array Pattern buried deep underground gradually emerged under the surge of that energy.

Deep below the earth, that beating pancreas seemed to sense the change outside. It began slamming violently against the inside of the Array Pattern. Every impact came with massive tremors and thunderous roars, as if it could no longer wait to break free and reclaim its freedom.

Night Frost and the girl both felt the violent tremors from deep underground. They looked up at the sky and saw the lightning in the clouds growing denser and denser, as if it could strike at any moment.

“Father is about to awaken.”

As the two hesitated, a bolt of lightning suddenly crashed down and struck the center of the sealing Array Pattern. The pattern began to collapse and disintegrate. Deep underground, the pancreas finally broke free under that impact and flew toward the sky.

As the influence of that pancreas spread, the Twelfth District, already riddled with corruption, fell into grave danger once more. From the distant past until now, the Abyssal Rifts that the Magic Maidens of the Twelfth District had painstakingly stitched shut were all torn open again. It was as if time had reversed, and every effort and sacrifice had become meaningless.

No Monsters emerged from the rifts, but the darkness and oppression from the Abyss still pressed down on everyone like something tangible. People could almost feel the malice and despair of another world, constantly eroding their hearts.

The largest Abyssal Rift was the passage the Calamity Dragon Li Dogegg had once used to descend into this world. A beam of light shot out from it, and arriving with that beam were the elves, the Halfbeast race, and others.

After delivering them here, the beam shot straight toward Aklatia. And no one noticed any of this except the Eye Orb.

A phantom of a god appeared above the Twelfth District.

Far beyond the borders of the Fourth District, the god’s hand split the earth apart and broke through the giant cocoon that had bound Him. In that instant, even time itself seemed to freeze, and everything around Him was shaken by that divine power.

He turned toward the Twelfth District and slowly raised one enormous foot. In no more than a dozen steps, He was already standing upon the land of the Twelfth District.

With a lift of His hand, the pancreas returned to His body. Then He looked toward Aklatia and reached out, but nothing happened.

He frowned. He had clearly sensed that Eye of Creation there, so why couldn’t He retrieve it? But it didn’t matter much.

The Mythic Abyss had already been completely destroyed. The soul that supported the Mythic Abyss had been fully occupied by Him. At the same time, the final piece of His body had appeared. Next, all He had to do was let the Abyss and the mortal world fully collide and merge. Then He could fuse with the soul within the Mythic Abyss and become a new true god.
