28. One Carrying Three!

As the voice fell, the storm erupted in an instant.

Howling winds swept across the entire battlefield. At the eye of the storm, the invisible wind was as sharp as blades, scraping everyone’s cheeks until they stung. Like an unseen sword, the gale slashed down at Azure in the center of the battlefield.

The Black Flame clinging to Azure and the Guardian of the Seventh District was stirred by the violent wind as well. The “frail” flames swayed in the gale, as if they might go out the next second. But only Night Frost knew that this level of force probably wasn’t enough to extinguish her Black Flame.

Night Frost had deliberately compressed the scale of the flames so they would think she was already at the end of her rope, and shift more of their attention to the Zone Fifteen Guardian. The moment they turned to deal with the Zone Fifteen Guardian, Night Frost would detonate those flames and let them have a taste of fire.

And just as Night Frost had expected, the Zone Fifteen Guardian’s strike was unleashed with full force, drawing Azure and the Guardian of the Seventh District’s attention away. Once the Zone Fifteen Guardian’s attack landed, Night Frost could ignite the Black Flame.

The invisible wind pressed down on the two of them. Enduring the Black Flame’s burning, the Guardian of the Seventh District chanted a Magic Spell. Two shields enveloped Azure and the Guardian of the Seventh District, but in the next instant, space tore open, and that invisible sword kept descending.

This time, the spatial rift appeared inside the barrier in front of Night Frost. Before the invisible sword even fell, the storm wrapped around its wounds struck first at the two inside the shield.

Azure swiftly swung her Wand. A brilliant burst of Mana flared from the projectile at its tip. Those particles spread rapidly through the air and wove themselves into a dense net.

Under Azure’s control, the net was quickly filled in by more Mana particles, becoming tough and elastic. She skillfully positioned the Mana net behind the two of them as a temporary barrier.

The moment the storm collided with the Mana net, a deafening roar exploded outward.

Yet this fully reinforced Mana net possessed astonishing flexibility. It not only withstood the storm’s impact, but gradually dispersed its force. Blocked by the Mana net, the storm could no longer advance, buying precious time for the Guardian of the Seventh District.

The Guardian of the Seventh District seized the chance to attack. Her scissors slashed toward the base of the invisible sword, trying to sever the source of the storm. Her scissors carried Abyssal Aura, sharp enough to tear through anything in their way.

The Zone Fifteen Guardian no longer had the strength to stop her. Just controlling that one attack had already drained an enormous amount of her focus. Facing the Guardian of the Seventh District rushing at her, she slowly closed her exhausted eyes and prepared to meet her final death.

But at that very moment, the Black Flame covering the Guardian of the Seventh District’s body exploded with a bang. A Crimson Gold Spear hovered in Night Frost’s palm and thrust toward the Guardian of the Seventh District’s chest.

Azure intended to step in and help, but the Mana net behind her was already on the verge of collapse. Strands of blade-like wind slashed against her not-so-sturdy Mana barrier. And when she tried to retreat, she met the same fate as the Guardian of the Seventh District—

The Black Flame ignited.

What the Black Flame burned was Mana. What it brought was physical pain. Azure had experienced it before. The more Mana she used to defend herself, the fiercer the Black Flame would become. Azure would not make that mistake a second time.

Enduring the pain, she quickly retreated.

Night Frost watched her every move. With a burst of fire, she burned away the Mana net, and the invisible sword descended once more, though its power had weakened considerably.

She couldn’t be allowed to escape just like that. Night Frost placed a hand over her chest. A layer of silver light covered her body, and strands of silver shimmer flowed through the center of her dark-gold eyes.

“I command you—stop.”

Azure’s figure stalled slightly. An inexplicable force froze her body in place. Shock surged through her heart. What kind of power could forcibly stop her like this?

Time?

She had heard that in the Twelfth District, there was a Magic Maiden who could manipulate time. That girl was supposedly very young. But Night Frost—one look at her age and she definitely wasn’t young. Walking down the street, she’d probably get called auntie.

Could it be the Cup of Blood?

The Cup of Blood could hold blood, allowing Night Frost to obtain time-based Mana. But earlier, Night Frost had drunk the blood inside it and gained spatial magic. And just now, she had been fully focused on the battle, with no time to prepare fresh blood.

But thinking more carefully... this feeling was familiar.

Very familiar.

The silver light radiating from Night Frost carried a thread of authority, and it made Azure involuntarily recall that figure from her memories—

That pure white Order.

She remembered it clearly. Back then, she had approached the weakened Order from behind and thrust a corrosive Magic Tool into her chest. Order had looked at Azure in disbelief. And just as Azure was about to deliver the killing blow, Order raised her hand:

【Stop!】

Strands of silver light fell over Azure’s body, making it impossible for her to move. That was when she understood the power of Order...

And at this very moment, it was just like that moment.

They weren’t the same person, but the presence they gave off was shockingly similar. The figure of Order in her memory gradually overlapped with Night Frost’s.

“You’re Order? No... you’re the Black Dragon... who exactly are you?!”

“A revenger.”

Night Frost calmly spoke those three words. At last, those annoying nets and barriers shattered completely. The massive invisible wind blade finally came down. Azure, frozen in place, could only watch helplessly as it descended.

But things never go as people wish.

Wrapped in flames, the Guardian of the Seventh District hovered in the sky. What she wore was no longer that gorgeous Magic Armor, but Moon Owl’s Magic Armor. Just moments ago, the Guardian of the Seventh District had cut out Moon Owl’s Magic Armor and draped it over herself.

“Spatial collapse...”

The Guardian of the Seventh District raised her hand, her gaze settling on Azure. The space beneath Azure’s feet instantly collapsed. At the same time, the Guardian of the Seventh District opened a rift nearby. After pulling Azure out of the void, the Magic Armor resembling Moon Owl’s dispersed.

Although Azure’s body had not been fully struck by the invisible wind blade, the fierce edge still swept across her left side, shattering her Magic Armor and leaving behind a thin line of blood.

“I haven’t lost to her. I still have a trump card!”

Night Frost had already played all her cards. Azure, though injured, still had one left. In that sense, she truly had not lost to Night Frost. But the price she would have to pay would be devastating.

“We’re leaving. If we keep fighting, even as Ultimate, there’s nothing to gain. If you don’t unseal it, you can’t feel it, but I... I’ll have to pay the price.”

The Guardian of the Seventh District’s gaze rested on Night Frost. After fighting for so long, the Mana inside Night Frost still hadn’t run dry. That Black Flame, like a blade scraping bone, kept burning away the Abyssal Aura on her body’s surface.

She had a premonition. She could kill Night Frost, but neither she nor Azure would make it out alive. So what if they were Ultimate? They were still completely suppressed by this Black Dragon flame.

Just as the Guardian of the Seventh District was about to leave, Azure lightly tapped her Wand against a Magic Stone, and a Magic Cannon shot straight at Night Frost’s face.

Night Frost’s expression was a little pale. She had consumed too much Mana, and right now she was only forcing herself to stay upright on sheer will. Against that Magic Cannon, she could only barely block it...

Just as Night Frost raised her hand and prepared to use the last of her strength to stop it, a spatial rift tore open behind her, and a hand yanked her backward.

“Huh?”

The Magic Cannon exploded, blasting a fresh crater into the already pitted ground. Then Night Frost was thrown out, landing weakly on the acid-rain-corroded earth.

“Space... That’s even more broken than the Cup of Blood!”

Moon Owl stepped out of the void. Her complexion didn’t look good either. But what worried the two of them even more was the Zone Fifteen Guardian’s current state.

Night Frost knew that repeatedly using Magic Spells could stack one’s power to a terrifying level. Crimson was the same. But unlike the Zone Fifteen Guardian, Crimson’s Magic Spell suited her perfectly. It was the very foundation of Crimson touching the Ultimate. The Zone Fifteen Guardian was different.

The Magic Spell she used was the same as Yuan Dai’s. At the same time, she had also stacked the same unsealing Magic Spell used by the Guardian of the Seventh District and the others. Layering those two unsealing Magic Spells together could indeed grant her a brief, unmatched power.

But at the same time, that power was also a death sentence, slowly driving her toward madness.

And after madness came... death.

Gray and white spread through her pupils, the collision of Abyssal Aura and Mana. A silent war was raging inside her body. Her head felt like it was being torn apart, as if countless sharp blades were slicing through her nerves.

She clutched her head tightly, trying to resist the pain, but that power seemed alive, relentlessly eroding her sanity. She could feel herself slowly slipping into madness. It wasn’t just the collapse of reason, but despair toward life itself.

“Hah... I’m not done yet.”

“Get out of my head—now!!”

She roared, her voice echoing through the empty space, filled with endless fury and unwillingness. Her eyes were crimson, as if blazing with fire, trying to drive that chaotic power out of her mind through sheer rage.

The Zone Fifteen Guardian shakily pushed herself to her feet, both hands bracing her trembling body. But the violent pain swept over her in an instant, like countless steel needles stabbing into her flesh. She couldn’t bear the sudden agony. Her legs gave out, and she dropped to her knees again.

Her knees slammed into the hard stone with a dull thud. In an instant, the flesh there was torn open and bloody. But compared to the power rampaging through her body and the muttering voices echoing in her mind, that pain was nothing.

Bright red blood flowed from the tip of her nose, trailing down her face and dripping onto the ground, mixing with the blood already staining the stone. She could feel her consciousness being eaten away bit by bit by that force, as if an invisible hand were tearing at her soul.

Her sharp nails dug viciously into her own skin and flesh, as if only that could keep her a little more awake. She gritted her teeth and fought with everything she had against the madness, unwilling to become its slave.

Inside the Zone Fifteen Guardian’s mind, the scenes of Azure slaughtering the people of Zone Fifteen replayed again and again. But suddenly, a figure patted her on the shoulder. Crimson-gold flames mixed with pure white fire swept through in an instant and drove all those images away.

She turned around and saw Night Frost’s face.

In the outside world, Night Frost withdrew her hand.

The Guardian of the Third District withdrew her hand as well.

The Zone Fifteen Guardian lifted her heavy eyes.

Then all three of them collapsed hard to the ground.

“Tch.”

Moon Owl swept her gaze around. A whole bunch of Chapter Three were still staring at them. Left with no choice, she tore open another rift, grabbed the unconscious three, and jumped inside.
