Chapter 35: Maiden of Ice and Snow
update icon Updated at 2026/1/3 4:30:02

For convenience—and honestly to dodge extra explanations—Yue Liuyi and Dixue kept their body swap sealed like moonlight in a jar from all visitors outside the Rangers Lodge.

So during the Skyship Planetarium’s hours, Yue Liuyi wore Dixue’s mask like borrowed snow, while Dixue moved as Yue Liuyi, light as water.

It looked tricky, but Yue found most moments yielded like frost on glass if she kept a stone-calm face and answered with a single “Mm.”

“Butterfly Snow President, long time no see.”

“Mm!”

“Butterfly Snow President, thank you so much for handling that maintenance issue.”

“Mm!”

“Butterfly Snow President, thanks for saving my brother!”

“Mm!”

Turns out sternness has perks; Dixue’s icy image is sunk deep like old frost in wood.

Yue learned that even a faint smile was like sunrise over slate, and those who knew Dixue looked flattered, wide-eyed as deer.

That silver-haired girl’s usual aura—Maria once said—was winter steel, cold past reason, a world apart from the Yedie Snow I knew.

Right now, in Yue Liuyi’s body, Dixue wasn’t cold at all; she was a spring lark in blue, hopping between tables, delivering maiden omurice with steam like morning mist.

“Sir, here’s your maiden omurice—eat while it’s hot!!”

“Th-thanks!”

“You scoundrel, don’t bloom at the sight of a girl!”

“I was wrong! I’m sorry!!”

The blue-haired girl kept serving, a beauty that could topple cities, her cute silhouette and sweet smile plucking the softest strings in every heart.

Even Yue’s own heart itched like a cat, wanting to scoop that girl up and stop her from weaponizing that sweetness.

But Dixue wasn’t faking; she served each traveler naturally, light as willow wind and warm as tea.

“This sister is so pretty!”

“A blue-haired girl I’ve never seen!”

“So cute!”

“A new member of the Rangers Lodge?”

People speculated while waiting, their guesses flowing like a murmuring stream under lantern light.

One sharp-tongued guest nailed her identity in a breath, quick as a blade.

“That’s Dixue’s new collaborator, Yue Liuyi. I heard she’s a girl who can melt ice.”

“What! An ice-melting ability user?”

“No, it’s because she’s too cute. President Butterfly Snow added her to the harem, so…”

“Ah, that explains it…”

Whispers fluttered like moths to a lantern, and Yue’s tongue itched to lash back, but she swallowed it like snow—she was Butterfly Snow President right now.

“Hello, everyone. Welcome to the Skyship Planetarium. I’m tonight’s host—Maria.”

Maria stood on the second-floor gallery, prismed lights haloing the grande dame like a peony in full bloom. (Though Zero Wei was off to the side, working the fuzzball rig.)

Parents and children, guests and wanderers, answered with applause that rolled like drums in a valley.

“In this Spring Festival season, I offer my warm blessings, for myself and the whole Rangers Lodge.”

Applause cracked again, sparks like firecrackers in the night.

“Next, I’ll bring you an operatic solo—The Last Night of the Ash-Glow Star. Please enjoy.”

Applause surged, a bright tide of hands.

(Meow? That wasn’t on the schedule. Weren’t we opening a planetarium?)

Yue quickly felt the downside of being Dixue—no room to snark, no soft exit—so Maria’s sudden plan to sing pinned her like a butterfly.

Maria began. Her voice rose like a tide; high notes flared, and gooseflesh lifted like a startled bird shaking rain.

It carried an old-school popular style, centuries deep, drawing clicks of admiration like stones on a shore.

Right—where’s Dixue…

Yue scanned the crowd like a hawk over fields, and found the blue-haired girl with a goth-lolita, tucked in a quiet corner, whispering in shade.

The goth girl clasped her hands and stood on tiptoes, eyes bright with yearning like stars caught in a well.

Is Dixue getting confessed to? Wait—that’s my body. No one knows it’s Dixue. Am I the one being confessed to?

Eavesdropping was rude, but worry tugged like a thread; she slid closer, cat-soft through the lantern glow.

“You must be Butterfly Snow President’s lover. Please help me!!”

“Not her lover! I’m President Butterfly Snow’s wife, and her exclusive body pillow~”

(Body pillow? Meow?)

“Then… Lady Body Pillow! Please teach me the arts of love—may I?”

“You can. What do you want to ask?”

The blue-haired girl planted her hands on her waist, confidence shining like summer sun on water.

“Susu is my dear friend. I like her very much. We’ve been together so long, yet never closer.”

“We’re always neither near nor far…” Tears trembled like dew in her eyes, her voice thin as a reed in wind.

“Girl, I get it. The fix is simple.”

Dixue laid her palm on the girl’s shoulder, steady as snow on pine.

“Choose the right moment. Grab her.”

“Lock her in a room.”

“Tease her until she blushes.”

“Then steal a kiss.”

Meow?? Dixue, seriously!

“Th-that’s too forceful…” the goth girl murmured, shrinking like a shadow at dusk.

“Love needs initiative,” Dixue said, mellow as tea. “For newbies, there’s a gentler method.”

“What is it? Please teach me!”

“Act cute and act silly,” she said, with a wink like a firefly. “But it has to be real silly.”

“Like not knowing how to tie a ribbon.”

“Like forgetting to wear underwear.”

“Like walking and accidentally flashing panties.”

“Like messing up a mini cake…”

“LittleSnow, shut it!!!!!!!!!!”

Yue couldn’t bear it; she dove at Dixue like a storm swallow cutting rain.

“Not my fault! You were the one sneaking around.”

Dixue sat on a chair, legs swinging like little bells in air.

“I thought I was hidden. How did you notice?”

They had slipped into the inner lounge, away from the clamorous sea of voices.

“I care about my body,” Dixue said. “And with such silver hair, you’re the lead anywhere. No crowd can drown that moonlit mane.”

“Who talks themselves up that much…”

“Heh. Little Moon is cute too.” Her laugh rippled like water over stones.

“I noticed when I go out in my own body, most people don’t dare meet my eyes.”

“They only steal glances, like mice at the granary.”

“But in Little Moon’s body, people stare openly.”

“They scan many parts—eyes, hair, legs.”

“And of course, the boobs. That’s where most eyes stick.”

She patted her chest, solemn as a priest with a bell.

“I don’t even know how to retort…”

Yue drooped like a wilted leaf, realizing she still couldn’t outtalk Dixue; even swapped, she got teased.

“So when we switch back, be careful, Little Moon.”

“Even though the Sky Voyager likely has no Murder Fiend now, don’t go alone into dark places.”

“Don’t drink strangers’ drinks.”

“Got it, got it.”

Yue sighed like wind in reeds; being a girl is tiring—no more night roaming like a stray dog.

“But with a chain and a coil, it’s fine.”

“Tie it around Little Moon’s neck, and we won’t lose her.”

“Even if someone drugs her, we can yank her back.”

“LittleSnow, don’t go too far! I get angry!”

“Ah, the body pillow is angry~”

Dixue tilted her head, mischief blooming like plum blossoms after snow.
