Compared to Yumigawa Senki, things were a breeze for Yumigawa Nozomi and Elyar, like wind over tall grass.
They faced a dozen Sacred Realm novices—Dark Demon casters and demon summoners—mere reeds before a gale.
Even the Aerucia Bird could topple a Sacred Realm initiate, a hawk cutting through morning fog.
Numbers rose like a black tide, yet they couldn’t bridge the gulf in strength.
Moreover, Elyar had stepped into Overdeity Level half a year ago—the Wind Spirit King whose casual god-tier spell mows foes like rain bending wheat.
Together, this fight felt like light drizzle on stone.
Only for the first ten minutes. As five black-robed foes facing Yumigawa Senki were swallowed by black mist and turned to umbral shades, shock rippled here like frost on glass.
A dozen black-robed men erupted in black fog; their screams were a flock of crows, until the mist ate them and birthed a black Mist Beast.
It wore an ominous chill like winter bark.
Its power fell short of the shade Senki fought, yet it loomed at a lower Overdeity tier, a mountain wind pressing on their chests.
The beast moved with near-teleport speed, a shadow flicking between lanterns, and attacked with razor-black claws, hard as obsidian, laced with poison and night-wet corrosion.
“Littlesky, that Mist Beast is mine,” Elyar said, voice steady as a still lake. “Guard yourself. If you’ve got room, help from afar.”
With a sword stroke that rang like steel on ice, she drove the beast back and spoke without breaking stride.
“Got it! Go, Elyar!” Littlesky’s smile was a sprig of spring as she sent the Aerucia Bird wheeling wide and readied the god-tier bow she’d snagged days ago.
“Wind King: Rift-Cleaving Slash.” Elyar listened to wind like a hunter to grass, read the eddies to predict where the beast would bloom, then struck with a slash swift as a falcon dive.
Clang! The beast reacted fast; its claws caught the blow, a thunderhead meeting a blade of light. Elyar’s follow-up was ready—a small teal whirlwind coiled round her left hand like a captive sprite and slammed forward.
The beast’s body was woven of black mist, only its attacking claws truly solid, a reed immune to mundane blades yet thin before magic, and Elyar’s storm outclassed it.
If not for its quick retreat, that whirlwind would’ve unraveled it like cobweb in rain. It watched Elyar with wary, angry embers in its gaze, growls rumbling like distant thunder.
Wind element fused with Law clung to its wound like frost, impossible to disperse for a time.
Pressing the advantage, Elyar gathered the free air like fallen leaves. She bound it with wind Laws, condensing dozens of wind-swords that hung like glass gulls, a sword array sealing the beast.
Sensing danger, the beast abandoned mending its wound. It became a black afterimage, a streak of night water, and tried to burst through on sheer speed.
Elyar, Wind Spirit King, wore speed like a crown; the beast was already a heartbeat late, a wave breaking after the wind.
“Wind King: Tempest Sword Array.” In an instant, the suspended wind-swords shivered like rain on eaves, then each blade turned into a cutting arc, a storm’s rage lashing the afterimage without mercy.
Seconds later, the last sword skimmed past like a hawk’s wing, and the array dissolved like mist in sun. The beast grew more translucent, its scarlet eyes brimming with fury, wounds deep as river cuts.
Without warning, a greenwind-wreathed arrow screamed in from afar, a comet through bamboo, and punched clean through its body—injury upon injury, like hail on cracked stone.
“Woohoo! Nailed it~” Littlesky’s cheer danced like bells.
“Roar!!” Knowing prey under a pincer has dust for odds, it went mad, if madness applies to fog—life or not, a storm in a jar.
It sucked the magic circle’s energy below like a whirlpool drinking the sea. The circle faded like old paint and vanished, though the barrier still glimmered like cold glass.
When it finished, wounds were gone, its aura swelled like rising storm, and strange sigils crawled over its body like living vines, shifting it from energy-form to hard flesh.
Elyar laid amplifying spells on her sword, sigils flaring like fireflies. She closed in, unleashing a downpour of slashes, rain and thunder rolled into steel.
The evolved beast shattered them with claws sharp as granite. Its brute force shoved her back, a gale pushing a sail.
It didn’t chase; it turned with a roar like breaking ice and lunged for Littlesky, paying back that arrow with night-dark interest.
Not good—the thought hit Elyar like a cold wave. At this strength, Littlesky and the Aerucia Bird were reeds before a flood.
“Wind King: Penetrating Blade.” She didn’t waste a beat. Her sword flew, a streak of wind-light, aiming at the beast’s back like a moonlit spear.
Facing the onrushing beast, Littlesky felt calm bloom first, then motion. A cute smile opened like peach petals. “Hehe~ I set a trap when I was bored. Didn’t expect prey to rush in. Activate! Elemental Binding Formation!”
A prismatic magic circle flared under its feet, color pooling like oil on water. Elemental vines surged up, wrapping its limbs like ivy, locking it in place.
Right then, Elyar’s Wind King blade rode a gale like a hunting kite and stabbed into the beast, its roar ripping the air like torn cloth.
She wasn’t done. One sword felt too thin, a single reed in a river, so she followed with three god-tier spells in one breath, meteors across winter sky.
The beast hadn’t broken the elemental vines, and its fate turned grim. Three god-tier spells obliterated beast and formation together, an explosion blooming like a night lotus.
“Whew~ Nicely done, Littlesky! That Mist Beast’s dead for good, right?” Elyar popped a spirit elixir, strength returning like sunlight, and flew to her side, relief loosening like snow melt.
“Mm… such stubborn vitality.” As the smoke thinned like morning fog, it still glared with angry eyes, aura faint, and Elyar felt the need to end it.
“Littlesky, to be safe, restrain it again. I need time for an Overdeity-level spell.” “Okay!”
Grievously wounded, the beast staggered like a broken wave and was soon bound again by her array, unable to move.
Half a minute passed. Above Elyar, wind Laws gathered thick as storm clouds, pressure dropping like autumn.
“Wind of Law.” A colossal tornado spun from pure Law-bound wind, a pillar stitching heaven and earth, swallowing the Mist Beast whole in a single, world-cleaving breath.
