At noon, Yugong Jingyue stepped back into the room and found Yugami Rexiao and Yugami Rexi sprawled on the bed, limp like flowers after rain.
“Ah-la? What happened to you two? The weather’s bright as silk today, but you can’t sleep all day.”
She sat beside them, voice turning lecturing, and nudged their shoulders, like tapping on a stubborn drum.
“Second Sis… this is on you!”
“What did we do to offend you, Second Sis?”
The sisters lifted their heads and glared at Yugong Jingyue, eyes sharp as drawn blades.
No joke—after eating the porridge she made this morning, there weren’t any bad signs at first; the taste was plain as warm water. But the moment they reached the bathroom, a bolt of pain hit their stomachs, twisting like a snake in a jar.
Thankfully, the Book of Day holds all kinds of healing spells, or the two of them would’ve been writhing like fish on sand.
“You two are so mean! It’s been a while, and you still won’t drop it. I worked really hard on those two bowls of porridge!”
“So you worked hard to make something that almost poisoned us?”
“Never again. I’ve got a shadow in my heart now when it comes to your cooking.”
Her words had barely left her mouth when the sisters roasted her without mercy, each jab landing like hailstones. Yugong Jingyue wilted, then forced a smile and surrendered with a bow: “Wuu, don’t crush me like this. I tried so hard… uh, sorry! My bad, truly! Stop looking at me like that, Lingxiao-chan and Lingsaki-chan☆”
Seeing their pallor like unglazed porcelain and the anger flickering like red embers, Yugong Jingyue apologized honestly, though her face carried no real remorse, a mask smooth as lacquer.
“Whew… so you finally apologized, Second Sis? Fine. It’s over, and we’re not hurt. We’ll forgive you this time, but don’t cook again.”
“Mm-hmm, Lingxiao’s right.”
They weren’t petty; once she bowed her head, their displeasure thinned like fog under sun.
“Exactly, Jingyue. Time to reflect for real.”
The door swung open with a soft creak, and Yugami Yue walked in wearing a cute maid outfit, like a spring breeze in frills. Both hands balanced a big tray: white rice, clear soup, and light dishes glistening like dew.
“Lingxiao, Lingsaki, you haven’t had lunch, right? I just finished cooking—come eat.”
She set the dishes on the table, motions neat as folded paper cranes, then turned to the sisters.
“Whoa, looks delicious… mm! Hey, what are you doing, Xiao Yue!”
Yugong Jingyue reached for the chopsticks, quick as a sparrow, but Yugami Yue tapped her hand with the tray, a crisp smack like a wooden clapper.
“These are for Lingxiao and Lingsaki. Besides, you ate half an hour ago.”
She drew back the tray and pinched Yugong Jingyue’s pretty cheeks, annoyed and fond, like flicking a playful fox.
“Seriously, Second Sis has zero reflection! Thanks, Sister Yue.”
“Mm, the smell is clean and warm—you can taste the care.”
The sisters shot Jingyue a white-eyed look and sat at the table, eating with steady rhythm, like oars on a quiet lake.
“Jingyue, don’t distract them while they eat, okay?”
Seeing her still eyeing the dishes, hungry as a cat at the window, Yugami Yue sighed and dragged her to the bed. “Stay put for me. You literally just ate.”
“Wuu, Xiao Yue, you’re cruel! Making me endure in the face of a feast! You big meanie!”
Yugong Jingyue pouted like a child, temper popping like popcorn, and Yugami Yue rubbed her temple. “Quiet, Jingyue! Fine, I yield… here.”
Faced with this overgrown child, Yugami Yue fished out a candy and popped it into her mouth, sweet as honey on a summer tongue.
“Hehe~ so sweet.”
Yugong Jingyue fell quiet at once, eyes closing with bliss, face soft as moonlight.
“…Suddenly, Second Sis is kind of cute.”
“Must be that childlike purity, bright as a clear stream.”
The sisters had just finished a bowl of rice and caught her blissed expression mid-swoon, and the thought bloomed: what sort of adorable creature is this?
“Right? Jingyue’s very cute. Want me to refill your bowls?”
Seeing their bowls empty like clean shells, Yugami Yue stepped over to ask.
“Mm, please.”
“…More rice.”
“Okay, one moment.”
Her hands moved skillfully, the rice piling like small white hills in Yugami Rexiao and Yugami Rexi’s bowls. “Here, eat slowly.”
“Thanks.”
“I’ll start.”
…
About ten minutes later.
“Thanks for the meal, Sister Yue. Your cooking is really good.”
“Mm, I’m full—energy restored!”
The sisters finished lunch, spirits lifting like kites in a steady wind.
“Hehe, thank you for the praise. I’ll go wash the dishes. See you later.”
After tidying the tableware, Yugami Yue carried the tray out, steps light as petals.
Only three stayed in the room now: Yugong Jingyue, Yugami Rexiao, and Yugami Rexi.
“What should we do now? I’m bored.”
Lingxiao wiped her small mouth with a tissue, speaking lazily, like a cat stretching in sun.
“No idea. Ask Second Sis—uh.”
Lingsaki shook her head and turned, then fell silent because—
“Mmm~ so many tasty things… I’m so happy…”
At some point, Yugong Jingyue had drifted into sleep, murmuring dream-snatches like drifting clouds. Her peaceful face was even cuter than before, and just watching her washed the heart like rain on dust.
“Second Sis seems asleep.”
“Yeah. Want to take a nap too?”
Lingxiao looked at Jingyue on the bed, sun warm as silk across her hair, then suggested the obvious. With lunch settling and drowsiness rising, what beats a noon nap?
“Mm. No objections.”
Lingsaki nodded and stretched, spine rippling like a lazy wave.
“Let’s brush our teeth first, since we just ate.”
“Okay.”
They rinsed up in the washroom, water shining like glass, then climbed onto the bed, one on each side of Yugong Jingyue.
“Second Sis’s chest is really big, especially this close.”
“Same. I kind of want to squish it.”
“Then squish! Wow, it’s so soft!”
Lingxiao laid a pale, slender hand over Yugong Jingyue’s chest and kneaded gently, fingers sinking like into fresh dough.
“It’s truly soft! I’ve decided—I’m sleeping right here!”
After a few squeezes, Lingsaki rested her head on that ample softness, a pillow warm as summer clouds.
“So comfy… ZZZ…”
“Ha, Lingsaki fell asleep? That speed is wild! Well, I’m sleeping on Second Sis’s chest too~ Mm, this feels amazing. Nap time, nap time.”
