Although Leon could not attend the group meeting due to "food poisoning," he didn’t stay idle.
Taking advantage of the time, he wandered around the ancient castle to see if he could trigger any exclusive missions tailored for his "lone wolf" role.
According to the information card, completing missions can help accumulate advantages.
Now fighting solo, Leon might have the Black Sacred Stone in hand, but more often than not, it felt like a hot potato. Once someone else discovered it, Leon would be directly out of the game.
Especially in the mid-to-late stages of the game, when everyone got desperate, they would stop at nothing to hunt for the whereabouts of the Black Sacred Stone.
Therefore, Leon had to seize the opportunity during the early game, when everyone was relatively relaxed, to stack up his chips.
However, after wandering around for a while, Leon still didn’t find any useful clue.
Unlike Roswitha, who possessed an extraordinary mission tool—a cake that could “control” a target for one round and prevent them from attending meetings—Leon hadn’t encountered anything of that kind.
"Tsk... How is it that the chef’s missions are so easy to find, but my lone wolf missions are this hard?"
Grumbling to himself, Leon returned to his room.
About ten minutes later, Leon heard a door opening and closing from outside.
The meeting on the first floor must have ended, and Isa had returned.
【Please locate the ‘Doctor’—who possesses medicine to treat food poisoning.】
That was what the Recording Stone had previously stated.
And Isa’s identity card drawn at the beginning of the game happened to designate her as the Doctor.
Leon didn’t waste time. He got up and headed straight to Isa’s room.
He couldn't afford to delay too long—if he went into the next meeting still suffering from food poisoning, everyone would likely vote him out.
Knock, knock, knock—
“Come in please.”
Leon pushed the door open and entered.
Isa was sitting on the couch in the living room, holding the initial information card in her hand.
Upon seeing Leon, she slowly placed the card back into its wooden box and closed the lid.
Then, Isa turned her head toward Leon, resting her delicate chin on one hand, and asked with a playful smile,
"What's the matter, brother-in-law?"
Leon shrugged. "The NPC said I’m food poisoned. You’re supposed to have the antidote."
At his words, Isa froze momentarily before nodding thoughtfully.
“Oh, so that’s how the rules work... That’s pretty realistic.”
“Exactly. So, do you have the antidote, sis?”
Just as Leon finished speaking, Isa’s Recording Stone activated, and the voice of a staff member came through:
"The antidote is inside the ‘Doctor’s’ storage room cabinet.”
"Note: The medicine is a game prop and is edible fruit candy."
Isa raised her eyebrows with intrigue. "Huh, interesting."
Standing up slowly, the striking red-haired beauty sauntered toward the storage room.
“Wait right here. This venerable Dragon God of Medicine will retrieve it for you.”
Leon chuckled.
Good, good. By all means, she got into character.
Shortly after, Isa returned with a few "antidotes" in hand.
She opened her palm to reveal candies in various colors.
“Well then, my frail brother-in-law, do you want the orange-flavored one, the apple-flavored one, or... oh, this one, mint-flavored. Which do you prefer?”
“The orange flavor.”
“I had a feeling you’d choose orange.”
Leon paused, puzzled. “Why is that?”
“Because Little Ros loves oranges.”
“...How is that relevant to this, sis?”
Isa tossed the orange-flavored candy at Leon.
He caught it effortlessly.
“Of course, it’s relevant. Lovers tend to influence each other subtly. What she likes, you’d try too, and gradually come to like it as well.”
Leon shook his head, a bitter smile flickering on his face. “Well then, take a guess: who do you think caused my food poisoning?”
Isa blinked her vivid eyes. Of course, she immediately guessed who Leon was referring to.
“Oh, the chef—that’s a convenient position for quietly taking others down. Much more sophisticated than the family werewolf games we used to play.”
There was a hint of enthusiasm in Isa’s tone.
She thoroughly enjoyed games that required brainpower.
And when her brother-in-law was the potential opponent, the experience became even more exhilarating.
Leon popped the candy into his mouth as the Recording Stone chimed, confirming that the food poisoning status had been removed and he was now eligible to attend meetings as usual.
“So, why do you think Roswitha poisoned me?”
Leon crossed his arms and furrowed his brows, beginning to analyze.
“Could it be… she stole the Black Sacred Stone, poisoned me to leave me out of the meeting, and then seized the opportunity to rally everyone to vote against me?”
While posing the question, Leon didn’t miss the chance to “smear” his wife's name, throwing the theft of the Black Sacred Stone onto Roswitha.
Isa pondered over it for a moment before stating,
“Based on what I know about Little Ros, her reason for poisoning you might not be that complicated.”
“So?”
“So, she probably did it just for fun.”
Leon silently facepalmed.
Wasting a valuable “control” opportunity just for fun—such a move would be a baffling play in any kind of werewolf-style game.
But on second thought, since it was that vindictive and mischievous dragoness targeting Leon, it all made perfect sense.
“Then, sis, what’s your main mission as the Doctor?”
Leon asked bluntly.
“Oh, me? I’m a veterinarian, specializing in treating small animals. Like, say, a certain food-poisoned relative.”
Leon knew she was joking.
She was evading his question with humor—a truly impressive tactic.
But Leon hadn’t really expected her to spill her secrets so easily anyway.
“What about you, brother-in-law? What’s your main mission?”
“Protecting the princess.”
“Oh? Protecting the princess?”
“That’s right. The Black Sacred Stone has been stolen, and the princess has ordered the castle to be sealed off. I suspect the thief might get desperate and directly target the princess.”
Leon stated solemnly, spinning a tale out of thin air.
“So, obviously, we good guys need to protect the princess. If she’s taken out, the game might end prematurely, don’t you think?”
When General Leon referred to himself as part of the “good guy” faction, his expression and gaze brimmed with unwavering sincerity.
It was convincing enough to make anyone forget that the Black Sacred Stone currently lay hidden in the water tank of the kitchen, courtesy of Leon.
Ah, well—that's the kind of confidence the righteous exude (take notes, Old Constantine).
Isa, however, made no comment on this. She simply remarked,
“Then, righteous brother-in-law, you’d better hurry to prove your loyalty to the princess.”
“Why?”
“Because you didn’t attend the last meeting. Everyone thinks you’re hiding something and has decided to investigate you first.”
“I missed the meeting because Roswitha poisoned her husband, for crying out loud!”
Isa spread her hands. “Well, if she doesn’t admit it, who would know?”
Having a "hard-controlled" lone wolf worked brilliantly to smear Leon's reputation while he was barred from defending himself during the meeting.
“So, do you believe me, sis?”
“As your relative, I trust you. But as the game’s Doctor, I have to observe carefully.”
This woman was certainly sharp.
Even in such a straightforward identity-based exchange, her answers were airtight.
“Fair enough.”
Leon paused before adding,
“Wait a minute, sis. Let’s say Roswitha didn’t poison me just for fun. If her true goal was to capitalize on my absence and rally votes against me, then it’s highly likely she really did steal the Black Sacred Stone.”
Isa considered this and nodded slightly. “That’s possible. This game probably includes a ‘lone wolf’ faction capable of killing indiscriminately. Plus…”
“Plus?”
“Plus, it was within my expectations that Little Ros would target you. If the roles were reversed, you’d surely target her first too.”
“...”
Smack—
Isa clapped her hands together, her inner shipper bursting into flames.
“Wow, you two are perfectly in sync! A match made in heaven~”
Oh, cut it out, sis!
But all jokes aside, if given a chance to take someone out, Leon really would target Roswitha first.
Married men have few hobbies, but taking out their own wives tops the list.
“What’s your next move?” Isa asked.
“Like you said, find Noa and demonstrate my loyalty. After all, she’s the princess in this game.”
“Hmm... Okay. Good luck.”
Leon waved as he turned to leave. “Thanks for the orange candy, sis. I’m off.”
“Bye-bye. Oh, and try not to fall for Little Ros’s wiles again.”
She smiled knowingly, as if she had already guessed what might have transpired between Leon and Roswitha earlier in the kitchen.
Leon scoffed but made no response as he opened the door and left.
After Leon’s departure, Isa returned to the couch, opened the wooden box on the coffee table, and retrieved the card she had been examining earlier.
In fact, this wasn’t the initial information card—it was one she had obtained after completing a hidden task at the end of the recent meeting.
The card bore just three words:
“The Only One.”
Isa’s thoughts stirred.
“The Only One… What could it mean?”
