"What should we do now? Should we take this girl with us?" Facing Merka's inquiry, Turing gently brushed aside the side bangs covering his sight, and tilted his head slightly towards Merka.
"What do you think, Merka?"
"I was thinking to just leave her here... Since she has managed to survive for so many years, then leaving her here shouldn't be a problem."
Upon hearing Turing's serious reply, Merka felt a bit puzzled. He had just assumed that the girl was definitely a part of the hallucinations from the Smoke-Free Zone, and he thought Turing thought the same, but he was wrong.
"Um, no. What I meant is, isn't this girl a hallucination created by the Smoke-Free Zone?"
"How could a normal person live for so many years without any changes?"
Merka shrugged and discreetly pointed towards the girl, expressing his doubts.
"No, that's not it."
"Although I'm not sure if she is human or an angel, one thing is for certain - she is not a hallucination."
"She has coherent and logically consistent memories, something that the Smoke-Free Zone hallucinations cannot replicate."
"I have already proven this on the upper level."
Turing shook his head, decisively denying Merka's statement.
Merka furrowed his brows, carefully contemplating. His intuition told him that there was definitely a conspiracy at play, but he couldn't figure out how such a harmless girl, placed here, could pose any threat to himself and Turing.
Could it be that there was some dangerous information mixed into the girl's memories...?
But...
"Turing... Ah."
Suddenly, with a heavy click of a circuit breaker shutting off, all the light bulbs in the corridor went out at once.
An endless darkness engulfed the entire corridor like a torrential rain.
Merka whispered in shock, but soon, a warm and soft palm, like a flower bud, held onto his wrist.
Turing's familiar voice came from beside him.
"It's okay, the circuit might have tripped."
"That girl's memory contained the map of the entire β-level, so now I know where to reach the next level."
"Follow me now, we'll slowly feel our way through with magic sight, for sure..."
*Puff!*
Hot black blood sprayed onto Merka's face, the dull sound of flesh and steel intertwining echoing, as if a luminescent steel spike had forcefully pierced through Merka's fragile eardrum.
In Merka's magic sight, he saw with disbelief that Turing, who was almost invincible and impervious to weapons, had been pierced through by a crystal blade extending from a seemingly ordinary mirror on her side.
"Turing... you..."
Merka's face was filled with horror, an inexpressible worry and fear choking his throat.
Concern mingled with chaos, the abrupt appearance of this rift between reality and perception left him unsure how to react for a moment.
"Ugh, uh... huh."
A trickle of blood seeped from Turing's mouth, then she raised her right hand to her cheek, clenching it tightly, and a sturdy tentacle immediately sprang fiercely from her back, breaking the crystal blade embedded in her.
"This is the handiwork of Aside... it had been playing hide and seek with me back on the α-level."
Turing's gaze lowered slightly, as she exerted force with her other hand, pulling the crystal blade embedded in her chest out in one swift motion.
Turing winced in pain, letting out a low groan. Merka, feeling a pang of sympathy, supported Turing's shoulder and began to cast healing magic.
"Aside... why? How does it possess this power?" Merka asked.
"No, its power hasn't changed."
"All these mirrors around us... are actually one-way mirrors on cameras."
Turing curved her index finger into a claw and forcefully slashed at the wall, causing the tentacle extended from her back to violently insert into both sides of the mirror, instantly severing dozens of meters of mirror surface, revealing the hidden cameras inside.
"The entire β-level passageway is designed in this corridor form. In order to prevent angels from escaping, they have filled all the corridors with surveillance cameras."
"I learned this from that girl's memories..."
"And since these cameras are modern machinery... Aside can manipulate them and to some extent, enhance their capabilities."
"I've been too careless and underestimated, being taken advantage of by this role..."
"Even this kind of character dares to provoke me now."
Turing revealed a confident yet bitter smile to Merka.
