Oedipus's Work Log

Hee hee.

Recently, through my unremitting efforts, I have finally become a spiritual recorder for angels.

This is a clerical job similar to that of a nurse or a childcare worker.

My main job is to accompany those angels, play games with them, chat with them, and occasionally record their spiritual states.

I think, since I'm idle anyway, why not help out with the experiment since my angel has already been used for it.

But it wasn't until I started working that I realized how much harder this job was than I thought.

I'm not talking about physical hardship, but rather mental.

After all, as experimenters, we may be working on them one moment and then deceiving them the next, all for their own good.

Some of them are quite intelligent, but they choose to pretend not to know, unwilling to cause me trouble.

This makes me suffer.

I couldn't help but lose sleep.

Yesterday, and the day before that too.

The nights seemed to stretch longer, while the days grew shorter.

Under pressure, last night, Prometheus and I planned to leave the lab and take a walk by the nearby seaside.

But due to a sudden rainstorm, we had to turn back halfway.

We secretly placed a small bed on top of the lookout tower outside the lab.

Watching the rain through the glass, we chatted all night--before we unknowingly fell asleep.

In the whispers of midnight, Prometheus gently held me, leaned close to my ear, and said my body was as soft as a cloud in a dress.

I don't know why, but I got upset and said, "Even if it's a cloud, it's still a gloomy one."

Prometheus laughed, saying I've been under too much pressure lately, lacking confidence in life, and being too self-reflective.

Maybe, I don't really understand these things.

But I do know that I used to be a pretty cheerful person.

This job, however, has been somewhat stifling.

Fortunately, the angels I'm responsible for are exceptionally gentle and kind children compared to angels in other areas, not causing me any worries.

This allows me to greet them with a smile every day.

In light of what Prometheus said, the best way to avoid overthinking is to express it in advance, which is writing a diary.

So from today onwards, I plan to record some information about the angels in this diary, along with our daily life together.

Recently, I have only been in charge of the angels in the grand plan. They seem to be an extended lineage from my own angels, so I feel especially close to them.

Next, let me start with their introductions.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the children I'm in charge of, apart from their numbers, each has a nickname given by each other.

In their daily lives, they seem to dislike being called by their numbers. Some children even get angry when called by their numbers.

They have a strong aversion to numbers. This emotion probably stems from being pulled out of the rest area for experiments every time we call them by their numbers.

So, in the following introductions, I will also record their numbers and nicknames.

1. Subject 999 Nine Tails (Beezelbub)

In the grand plan, the experimenters used my angels to give birth to seven angels...well, eight if we count the split Mostima as two.

The 13th district I'm in charge of consists of these eight angels.

Among all the angels I take care of, this child, 999, is the most obedient and adorable one.

Recorders from other districts passing by my area can't resist coming in to pat and hug her.

She never gets annoyed or tired of the attention.

It seems like she's naturally incapable of anger.

Although she never calls me this, it did make me wonder for a bit, but after all, she's not a real fox. Realizing this, I felt relieved.

I remember during her memory implantation, researchers deliberately tested her limits by implanting over three hundred memories.

They likened this to recalling three hundred past lives in an instant. Surprisingly, even after such an intense process, her emotions remained stable, which was truly astonishing.

If it were me...well, never mind. Let's not dwell on such profound matters.

Appearance: Fox-shaped with nine tails, other parts similar to a North American red fox

Endurance: S

Strength: S

Agility: S

Recovery: S

Communicability: Moderate

Rationality: High

Magic level: High to almost incalculable

Her anchor point for stability is very high, nearly never experiencing breakdowns, madness, or other mental phenomena.

Apart from being a bit negative in daily life and lazy, she doesn't have any obvious character flaws.

Though silent, it doesn't mean she can't speak. She speaks human languages, with clear consciousness and logic, often speaking as an elder to others.

While not exactly benevolent, her demeanor is still considered gentle.

She's somewhat of a benchmark in our lab, the most powerful angel we've created with existing technology.

According to researchers, with the energy stored in her body, we could potentially launch an energy wave from Earth strong enough to shatter Pluto. Whether that's true or not is anyone's guess.

Subject 998 Phoenix (Mostima I)

This child is my favorite angel in the lab!

Since she's implanted with my memory, she's taken the form of me. However, she appears slightly younger than my current self, like my twin younger sister.

She's always timid, with a shy and introverted personality. But once you get to know her, you'll find her to be incredibly gentle and considerate.

Unfortunately, her emotional stability is a bit fragile, requiring careful care. Quite similar to a little sister, really.

As her older sister, I have to carry coolant with me every day to prevent her from going berserk, which saddens me. But it's all part of the job, and there's no way around it.

She loves reading, much like me. Whether it's Western or Eastern, fiction or biography, she enjoys them all.

It was her idea to use a Chinese book called "Classic of Mountains and Seas" to give each angel a nickname. Her gentle nature carries great respect among the angels, so everyone agreed to follow her lead.

As for me, well, hehe. I don't have much authority; no one really listens to me.

Appearance: She looks just like me.

Endurance: D

Strength: C

Agility: A

Recovery: B

Communicability: High

Rationality: Moderate

Magic level: Moderate (compared to the average for angels)

Her anchor point for stability is relatively low, but still higher than the lowest tier.

Subject 997 Omen (Mostima II)

This child had already passed away when I took over the job, quite unfortunate.

I don't know much about her.

Subject 996 Childe (Mammon)

She's Omen's angel. Memories seem to be extracted from a nine-year-old girl named Mammon from a branch of my family.

She enjoys eating sweets and practicing calligraphy. Whenever we have tea parties, she's always the first to arrive.

Notwithstanding her constantly stern expression, it seems not out of discontent but simply due to her inability to easily express emotions.

Dealing with her requires being observant and sensitive to her moods...quite tiresome for me.

While she doesn't resort to magic when in a bad mood, she might hit you on the arm with a book. Her hits are quite forceful and painful.

I'm not particularly good with such kids.

Appearance: A cute nine-year-old girl with red hair and blue eyes.

Endurance: A

Strength: D

Agility: D

Recovery: B

Communicability: High

Rationality: High

Magic level: Moderate

Her anchor point for stability is quite high, but she might inexplicably throw a temper tantrum.

5. Subject 995 Samael

She is Childe's angel. It's said Mostima gave her this nickname due to her particularly bad temper.

She is indeed quite temperamental and very defiant. Memories extracted from a five-year-old girl from a branch of my family.

I remember the girl used to be quite arrogant and temperamental, traits that seem even more pronounced in Samael.

She enjoys picking fights and is quite brave, intimidating the other children in the lab. Even Beezelbub has to stay far away from her to avoid getting hit while soaking up the sun.

Well, regardless of her disposition, she is still under my care.

I only dare approach her with Beezelbub by my side each time. If she unexpectedly throws a punch, I'm sure I'd collapse without making a sound!

Appearance: A lovely five-year-old girl with red hair and blue eyes.

Endurance: C

Strength: A

Agility: B

Recovery: B

Communicability: Moderate

Rationality: Low

Magic level: High

Her anchor point for stability is very high, on par with Beezelbub. Her personality is very unified, possibly because her calm personality traits have been removed, leaving her no room to reflect on her situation and surroundings.

6. Subject 994 Leviathan (Beelzebub)

This child's memories are taken from Mostima before the split.

She believes she is my angel, but in reality, she is Samael's angel.

She follows me around every day, trying to cast spells to help me, but she can't quite manage it.

In some ways, she's quite adorable--but her appearance is rather off-putting, subtracting points from my impression.

Her various data points are already quite terrifying; in her view, our large lab seems no more than paper.

To prevent her from going on a rampage, we usually have to continuously inject coolant into her subcutaneous veins for twenty-four hours to slow her movements.

Seeing her in pain often leaves me feeling quite distressed.

Appearance: Much like the other ordinary angels, she resembles a humanoid tentacled creature.

Endurance: B

Strength: S

Agility: S

Recovery: A

Communicability: Low

Rationality: High

Magic level: High

Her anchor point for stability is relatively low.

7. Subject 993 Belial

This child had also passed away by the time I took over the job.

But I've heard the staff mention that her data was exceptional.

8. Subject 992 Lucifer (Lucifer)

Her memories are similarly taken from my brain.

She and I share the same interests, hobbies, worldviews, values, and even secrets. Logically, we should have gotten along well as sisters...

But for some reason, she always gives off an unfathomable vibe.

It's like she's ten years older than me.

Her joyous emotions were removed, which makes me quite sad for her.

I wish to get to know her better, but I can't do it right now...

I believe that one day in the future, I will be able to.

Appearance: Much like me. (Some say she's a bit more womanly than me, but I don't see it that way.)

Durability A

Strength S

Agility A

Resilience S

Communicability High

Rationality High

Magic Power Extremely High

The anchor point for mental stability is very high.

As for the angels under my management... That's it for now.

I'll write about the rest later, for now, I'll stop here.

Good night.
