In the heart of the central city stands the Chief Minister's Palace, which was once known as the soul of the Acadia nation.
However, it has now been mostly dismantled and is undergoing a reconstruction.
Busy construction mages each hold a set of blueprints, diligently locating their assigned positions and using magic to flawlessly construct their part of the building.
But upon closer inspection, one would notice that the interior design on these blueprints is not like the original Chief Minister's office style. Instead, it leans towards a slightly retro and dignified European royal palace style.
For Acadia, a nation on the surface with a cabinet system and an abdication system, discussing royal power is somewhat of a taboo topic.
"Your Majesty..."
A representative of the Elder Council knelt down nervously, looking at Oedipus not far away, sitting cross-legged with one hand supporting his chin and dozing off, and dared not speak a word.
A noble and magnificent royal throne sits atop the grand platform of the former Chief Minister's Palace, with countless sacred golden columns connecting to the back of the throne, making it look as if it could link heaven and earth.
Oedipus sits on this royal throne, as if she were the center of power and authority in this world.
Evidently, this extravagant and arrogant royal throne was not always there but was ordered to be built in the new central city by Oedipus.
"What about Turing... any sign of her wanting to return?"
"Does she show any inclination to come back at all?"
Oedipus, with eyes closed, asked casually.
Her majestic presence, like the dazzling white light on a great sword, made it impossible for people to look directly at her.
"At present... um, it seems not."
Seated beneath Oedipus, this diligent public servant seemed to exert all her energy just by kneeling before Oedipus.
She wiped the cold sweat off her forehead and hesitantly spoke.
In reality, the nobles and their staff were responsible for their families; the Kyopa military was responsible for the Chief Minister; and the only ones who truly spoke for the people were the Elder Council.
But the Elder Council's power was more akin to guiding public opinion.
This tangible but powerless authority seemed somewhat ridiculous in the presence of Oedipus or Maria.
Suddenly, the sound of a string of stones being crushed to powder rang out.
Beezelbub boldly broke through a nearby stained glass window and landed beside Oedipus with her magical wings fluttering.
"Until this week, every attempt to amend the constitution had failed."
Beezelbub, not sparing a glance at the elder before him, casually spoke to Oedipus in Old English.
"it doesn't matter."
Oedipus smiled slightly and lazily responded to Beezelbub.
She raised her eyes slightly, her emerald eyes shining beautifully like stars in the sky.
"With all due respect, Your Grace Oedipus."
The elder was perplexed by the shocking situation, but she knew that if she didn't express her opinion now, she might be thrown out soon.
"Your obsession with Turing Grace is unwarranted."
"Encouraging her talent is one thing, but... you have indeed gone a bit too far."
"I'm not entirely sure if Turing Grace is responsible for the murder of that great taboo orchestra member..."
"Just looking at the results, your political enemy has made a big deal out of this."
"You exposed your weaknesses too deeply."
"And personally, I think it's a bit of a pity if we were to marry the clever and wise Turing to the gods."
"Wouldn't it be a better choice to leave her to manage the Altria family instead?..."
The elder said a lot, but after listening to all this, Oedipus only responded with a faint smile.
"You've addressed me wrongly; you shouldn't call me 'your excellency'."
"From now on, Acadia will have no chief, only an emperor."
Oedipus stood up from the imperial throne, her one meter seventy-plus body straightening as if it were a thousand meters tall.
"Um, what do you mean? I don't quite understand..."
The elder looked up at Oedipus's smiling face, somewhat puzzled.
"How long does it take for ants to understand human motives?"
Oedipus shook her head, smiling helplessly.
"I've amended the constitution, do you understand what I'm saying now?"
"From now on, religion and the Elder Council will no longer have any substantial authority."
"Everything in Acadia, from now on, will be under my command."
Beside Oedipus, Beelzebub stood like a death god, grinning wickedly as if supporting Oedipus who uttered these audacious words.
"Ah, this..."
The elder's scalp tingled, speechless, as she looked up at Oedipus before her, feeling as though a heavy burden had been placed on her tongue.
"But... even if amending the constitution, shouldn't we at least wait until the parliament convenes?"
"Furthermore, why are you doing this?"
"In Acadia, there's nothing you couldn't have achieved anyway, isn't that right?"
After a brief shock, the elder's emotions began to show signs of agitation, fueled by her deep-seated aversion to feudalism ingrained over thousands of years in Acadia.
This brought out a sudden surge of courage within her, as she dared to speak out in front of Oedipus.
"Of course it is to bring back my beloved daughter."
"If the constitution doesn't give me privileges, then I'll grant myself those privileges."
Oedipus laughed, casually lit a cigarette, no longer paying attention to the emotionally charged elder below.
"This won't do! As the chief..."
The elder listed multiple offenses, citing various political theories with great eloquence.
She talked incessantly, one negative impact after another pouring out of her mouth, painting Oedipus as an eternal sinner, completely oblivious to Oedipus's increasingly cold and cruel smile.
"You are not wrong."
"But you have underestimated my patience."
Facing the elder, Oedipus still wore a light smile.
A tentacle, veins bulging, suddenly erupted from behind Oedipus, violently reaching out towards the elder and crushing her head into minced meat.
As her headless body fell, Oedipus deeply inhaled the cigar in her mouth, closing her eyes in ecstasy.
"Go forth and proclaim my will to the world, Archangel."
"My daughter has been away from me for too long... I cannot wait to see her."
With a casual glance at the body, Oedipus gracefully sat back on the throne. Crossing one leg over the other, she appeared as elegant as a crane.
"Understood." Beelzebub smirked, transformed into the likeness of the elder, gave a slight bow to Odipus Microscopius, and then exited the door.
