Chapter 308 Central City

"If I'm not mistaken..."

"Backdrop is hidden inside the ossuary next to the magic arena in the Central City."

"Turing and Diana had a fierce fight there once."

"Because it has some kind of magic protection all year round, the organizers had them compete there."

"Now that I think about it... There probably isn’t any magic that can last after the death of a wizard."

"Logically, there must be an angel at the ossuary who has been maintaining and repairing the magic protection all this time."

"But where can you find an angel that can transcend a thirty-year limit and protect the ossuary for countless generations?"

"For this strange phenomenon, I can only think of one explanation."

"That is - the ossuary is actually the hiding place of Backdrop."

"It controls angels, uses magic to protect the ossuary, in fact, it is also protecting itself."

"Only Backdrop's own angel could possibly never die, right?"

Merka's words were astonishing, even causing a stir in the shadows.

After staring blankly at Merka for a while, the shadow suddenly smiled.

"Ah... I really hit the jackpot with you, Merka."

"I admit that over these thousands of years, you indeed are somewhat special."

"There’s no time to waste, let's hurry to the ossuary."

Having known the shadow for so long, Merka felt that this was the first time she had seen something like human emotions in it.

But unlike the shadow, Merka was not overly excited. War was no child's play, and playing against Oedipus, a slight misstep could lead to an irreversible situation.

Even if Oedipus eventually emerged victorious, for Kagtua, it would only mean a different way of life, but for the millions of citizens of Acadia, it meant losing the protection of the gods.

Merka had to be cautious, and it wouldn’t hurt to be overly cautious.

"Wait, let's put the visit to the center of the city on hold for now. Didn't you say you would help me with the programming generator?"

"I have all the materials here, I will take you to get them."

After Merka said this to the shadow, she tucked the mechanical godhead under her arm, spread her magical wings, and flew towards the villa on the island in the lake.

After chatting with the shadow for almost an hour, Merka's body felt a bit numb.

Flying in the air, Merka's body was agile, revealing a subtle sense of numbness, crossing through the dark night sky.

The dim moonlit night was sorrowful yet not hurtful, exuding a lonely and sweet fragrance in the haze, and Merka could even discern a hint of clarity within it.

In Merka's heart, it seemed to hint at some prophecy of hope.

Even in the darkest days... the future was not entirely hopeless.

Merka saw a cluster of lights in front of her villa from afar, feeling relieved, she flew over and gently landed.

"Aside, is this good enough?"

The eerie night grinned, revealing its vicious fangs, fiercely tearing at the faint yellow glow emanating from Turing and Merka's cabin in the woods.

Merka flew into the mansion, searching left and right, and took out a small gear, a piece of Turing's flesh, and a mechanical deity, handing them over to the shadow. "That should do... It's a bit meager though. With so little, the programming generator I create won't be much," she said. The shadow accepted the three symbols of Acadia's supreme power from Merka, and they immediately seemed to come to life. As they gathered together, they intertwined tightly. In the blink of an eye, they transformed into a small model that looked like a flamethrower. The shiny black object caught Merka's eye, unmistakably a technological relic from a completely different era.

"It's been nearly a millennium... I haven't interacted with the mortal world for quite some time," she said. "After arranging everything in my realm, I haven't done any programming either. It truly makes one feel nostalgic... To regain a body after losing it for thousands of years, what would that feel like?" The shadow lightly rubbed the weapon model in its hand, murmuring to itself with a nostalgic tone. These human-like actions almost deceived Merka, making her believe it had once been something akin to a human.

"Unfortunately, I never had the chance to mourn my friends. They all vanished in the sands of time," she sighed. "I wonder if robots are eligible for heaven." After muttering a few more words, the shadow reached out to Merka. "Hand over the twisted wand to me, and I'll help you get rid of the curse on it."
