Chapter 139 - Turing and the Messy Clues

"Um..." A strong sense of weightlessness rushed into Turing's brain, almost causing Turing to fall off the suspended seat.

Turing shook their drowsy head and found themselves holding a book, sitting amidst a pile of books on the floor.

"Is this... the library?"

The light fixture above Turing's head, embedded in a faint halo, gave Turing a sense of solace.

"What on earth is going on?"

"Have I time-traveled again? Am I back in the library?"

Turing looked around and noticed that the opened books and unopened books were separated into two piles around them.

Furrowing their brow, Turing flipped through the book in their hand and glanced at the cover.

"Classification and recording of angelic features in experiments."

"Have I read many books already?"

Turing covered their head, trying to recall their memories about the books.

"No, I can't remember anything."

"Memory has been disrupted since I used the Grand Flame Spiral."

Turing lightly stroked their jaw and had a lingering feeling that something had been forgotten.

"But one thing is certain, my magic should be enough to destroy the two of them. I distinctly feel that I have burned that angel to ashes."

"Oh right!" Turing stood up from the seat, their face turning pale.

"Isn't this the time when I was reading the book, no, when that woman died?"

"I... I have to go see."

Turing still couldn't see the woman who had turned into an angel as the same person she usually was.

Her fragility when she hadn't regained her memories of the past made it hard for Turing to believe any connection between her and the angel.

"She shouldn't be this fragile even if she didn't transform into that form."

"Is she really an angel?"

Uneasily, Turing passed by the jagged bookshelves and headed towards the entrance in their memory.

Nervously swallowing saliva, Turing braced themselves and listened carefully to the sounds coming from the hall.

"Sister?" Turing called subconsciously in a low voice.

"Oh, what's the matter?"

No bloody or strange scenes appeared. The woman sitting at the control panel remained as gentle and sweet as ever. There were also many unnamed books placed beside her, as if she was searching for information together with Turing.

And those coffins on the floor, including the angels inside them, had all been destroyed. The traces of the magical destruction indicated that Turing was the one who did it.

Turing let out a sigh of relief, but their expression turned grim when they thought about how the woman had turned into that monster just because of a name mentioned by Turing.

"Don't... don't look at those things." Turing quickly walked up and closed the book the woman was reading, placing a hand on the cover. "I'll find it myself."

"But I want to help you share the burden a little." The woman's tenderness was like plum wine, tasting sweet and mellow at first, but with a slightly intoxicating scent that grew stronger with time.

"Although I'm not very good at these things." The woman awkwardly pinched the corner of the book Turing was holding. "But when two people are together, they become formidable."

The more the woman behaved this way, the more Turing felt a painful prickling sensation. Turing couldn't help but furrow their brows, feeling sad for both themselves and the impending outcome for the woman.

"A long, long time ago, it feels like someone taught me this lesson." The woman recalled, her eyes seemingly sparkling, "Who could it be... I always feel like it should be someone, someone very important."

"Stop thinking about those things." Turing quickly interjected, afraid that she might remember something.

"Hmm?" The woman playfully replied with a smile in her eyes, "What's wrong? Is Nizi jealous?"

"A little kid with a big attitude."

Turing fidgeted anxiously with a hand running through their hair, feeling that if they didn't take action soon, they might never be able to.

[Clearly, her being Mortemar is a done deal. After all, she remembers her past when she hears that name.]

[I shouldn't have held back...]

Turing was just about to gather their resolve and summon their magic when their gaze swept across a quietly lying iron lunch box on the control room table.

Turing's heart trembled, and in the end, they deflated.

"When did you get this lunch box?" Turing asked.

"Oh, this." The woman became somewhat embarrassed, "I thought there might be some food stored in my room, but turns out there wasn't."

"Only this box was left. But it was really important to me at that time, so I brought it with me once I came to my senses."

"Sorry, being so stubborn at a time like this."

The woman's tea-scented apology seemed to make it impossible for anyone to get angry.

[Definitely not mother.]

[Someone of noble birth like mother, wouldn't possibly like eating something as crude and uncouth as roasted pig's elbow.]

Turing suddenly realized something and asked the woman with a slightly serious expression, "Um... I see that you look quite energetic, so you're not running a fever anymore?"

The woman's expression became somewhat puzzled, "Fever? What fever?"

Turing's eyes flashed with surprise, but then they suddenly realized.

[I should have thought of it earlier. That temperature couldn't possibly be reached through fever.]

[It's a sign of an angel transformation, the outer shell of an angel usually has an abnormally high temperature.]

[She must have gradually started to remember something at that time, that's why she became like that.]

Turing felt an unexplained pain in their heart.

[So, as long as I don't let her remember the past, she won't become like that, right?]

[Do the people from the McNewdeau family really have to kill her... even though there might still be a chance for her to change.]

"Wow, you've already found this book?" The woman exclaimed in surprise when she saw the book in Turing's hands.

"Uh? Oh..." Turing realized that they had brought the book "Categorization and Records of Angel Characteristics in Experiments" with them as well.

"With this book, we should be able to find any angels, right! I remember all the experimental angels were given names." The woman happily said, seemingly genuinely happy for Turing to be able to achieve their goal.

"Do you want to go to the laboratory and take a look? I remember that's where angels are kept."

"If you're lucky, you might just be able to find the demon you're looking for."

"With this book, it should be easy to identify it."

Turing, after hearing the woman's words, rubbed his temples in frustration and flipped open the book in his hand to the table of contents.

To his astonishment, Turing discovered that the book directly recorded the characteristics and experimental code of Mostima.

Experimental Subject Name: Mostima.

This experimental subject is a representative product of the [Grand Plan] Season Five...

The subject is completely white and emits a white glow when in intense motion...

After being given a personality, it exhibits a clear inclination towards pacifism...

Its magical power ranks fourth in the Grand Plan...

This experiment has improved on the shortcomings of the previous Lucifer experiment, granting the subject the ability to strongly experience emotions and express them...

Based on the principle of prioritizing experimental safety, we...

Turing glanced at a few lines, and cold sweat started to run down his back.

【Completely white? What does that mean? Wasn't she pitch black at the time?】

【Could it be that she's not Mostima?】

【No, no, it's also possible that she didn't reveal her true form. Mom and Maria also changed their body colors when they were fighting, angels can alter their physical form to some extent.】

Turing shifted his eyes away from the information-filled book and closed them in agony, trying to process the information he had just received.

"Well then, let's go to the laboratory," Turing said to the woman.
