"Now there are four tasks: surveillance, reconnaissance, ambush, and preaching."
Lucifer raised her face, which seemed to turn gray in the shadow, and stared at the six figures in front of her with those eyes. Her intention remained the same as before, which was to consult with her subordinates and then make the final decision.
The four tasks were entirely different in nature.
"Surveillance" meant keeping an eye on Wang Xiaole's every move. Despite Wang Xiaole having no grudge against this group, or even being aware of its existence, it did not prevent Lucifer from gathering information about him. Lucifer's current judgment was that Wang Xiaole needed close surveillance.
‘Defiance of God’ aimed to overthrow the Church and considered everyone at the top of the Papal Kingdom as their enemies, including the current Holy Maiden, Caí. Since they had to be enemies with her, Lucifer had to consider how Wang Xiaole, who was close to Caí, would act when the time came. After some thought, Lucifer concluded that he would likely fight against her. Since the likelihood of combat was high, knowing what this potential opponent was currently doing was crucial for the organization. Therefore, members had to be dispatched to keep a close eye on this underestimated individual.
"Reconnaissance" was not directed at the army or individuals, but at an entire empire. Among the Three Empires, Suoeia was the only entity that could compete with the Papal Kingdom on the comprehensive national strength level. Although Lucifer had foresight, she couldn't predict the future accurately, so it was necessary for her subordinates to infiltrate Suoeia and find out what the country's recent movements were. If it was intelligence from other countries, grunts could handle it. But Suoeia was different. Whether it was the Emperor himself or his "Six Stones" subordinates, once encountered, they would be formidable opponents to escape from. Therefore, capable subordinates had to be sent, even though their survival chances were slim. If they unfortunately engaged with the strong in that country, retreating successfully wouldn't pose a significant problem.
"Ambush" specifically targeted the Papal Kingdom. Lucifer predicted that soon, one of the bishops would lead an army to "visit" Dibiles. The ambush only required a few people, and the subordinates tasked with it didn't have to confront the enemy head-on. The key was to strike at the moment of the enemy's weakest point.
"Preaching" targeted the gods in heaven. The crux of this task was to undermine the faith foundation of the "Church of the Supreme God" by allowing other religions to take root in people's hearts, thereby weakening the power of the gods to some extent.
These were the specific details of the four tasks, and each subordinate understood and had different thoughts about them.
"I want to monitor that 'lamb.' Leader, you once mentioned that he doesn't have a good view of the current Church, and I believe I could have a pleasant conversation with him."
The voluptuous woman, clasping her hands in a standard prayer posture, raised her chest curves considerably while doing so. As her posture highlighted her figure, she seemed to be trying to express the softness even more by squeezing inward a little with her raised arms. Lucifer glanced at the “large demon” in front of her, and the temperature in her eyes and throat dropped even lower than before.
"I didn't ask you to befriend him. What's the use of getting along?"
The woman knew that the leader was not pleased at the moment, so she emphasized in a louder voice, "I want to prove that even in this ugly world, enemies from different camps can eventually understand each other!"
"Understanding the enemy is not a good outcome..."
Lucifer didn't want to say the second half of the sentence out loud: understanding the enemy usually meant that one's own people had been manipulated by the other side. If the monitor’s target was a genuinely pure-hearted girl instead of a teenage boy with a young heart, Lucifer might have agreed to her request.
"I've decided: you are the least suitable person for this task!"
Lucifer vetoed the woman's request. Of course, this did not mean the woman's previous words were in vain. In fact, because she had heard such words from her, Lucifer could decisively exclude her from the task.
"But it doesn't seem appropriate to involve men in this mission either."
Lucifer knew that Wang Xiaole mainly stayed in Dibiles, a kingdom of only girls. It would be quite challenging for a man to blend in. Among the subordinates brought this time, only two were women. After excluding the previous woman, the only suitable candidate at the moment was…
"It's you! Go and keep a close watch on him for me. This task cannot afford to fail."
Lucifer pointed her index finger at the woman with a seductive voice. The latter immediately became displeased. "Why me? Why should a beautiful, mature, and outstanding woman like me have to monitor that half-grown boy?"
This disdainful attitude!
If one had an interest in the surveillance subject, should they not undertake the task? Honestly, it seemed more like an excuse to start a romance. Despite the woman's dissatisfaction, she was not the boss, and her objections were futile. The person responsible for surveillance was determined, and the next task was to gather intelligence.
Lucifer pointed her finger towards the petite man and the kindly old man and said, "You two are in charge of gathering intelligence."
"Oh, are we going to that powerful man's country? Awesome, I'm pumped!"
The always self-motivated individual instantly accepted the task, while the elderly man, tapping his cane, said, "It seems the leader hasn't forgotten that it's an old man's homeland. Alright then, this old bone can still be of use."
Even if he had no fondness for his homeland, one must listen to what a person of high stature said. Following this principle, the old man chose to undertake the task. Next was selecting the individuals for the ambush.
Lucifer locked her gaze on the disappointed woman and the one-armed man who had been silent until now. "The two of you will ambush the Papal Kingdom's army in this forest. It's up to you how to deal with them once they appear."
"Yes."
"Understood."
Both individuals gave their consent.
Finally, the selection for preaching remained with one suitable candidate from the beginning. With a slight tilt of her head, Lucifer turned her face towards the young boy and informed him, "Don't you want to increase the number of followers? Your chance is coming! When the incident with Inran occurs, sneak into that country's leadership and attract the followers of the 'Church of the Supreme God'."
Even if there was tension between the young boy and Lucifer, when it came to a significant task like preaching, he couldn't refuse or hesitate. And with that, all four tasks were assigned.
"Dismissed!"
With that statement, Lucifer began to chant. The six subordinates took out teleportation scrolls and, as they infused them with energy, activated them simultaneously. As the teleportation began, a figure hidden behind a distant tree peered out.
Curyl, who had come chasing the senior outside while waiting for Lucia, unexpectedly came across a member of the "Defiance of God." Knowing the difference in their abilities, she cleverly hid behind a large tree before being spotted. Curyl cautiously avoided their gaze and eavesdropped on their conversation. It wasn't until the seven figures disappeared and waited for several seconds that she ceased her concealment and took a step forward.
"Are you interested in our conversation?"
Before her foot touched the ground, a voice came from behind Curyl. Lucifer and her six subordinates had noticed her long ago; however, none of them took any action and were waiting for Lucifer's judgment. Just before the teleportation scrolls were activated, Lucifer indicated to her subordinates with her eyes, "You may leave. I'll take care of the little mouse that's been hiding."
Therefore, Lucifer's recent chant wasn't to return herself back to her original location. It was just a small-scale teleportation, the endpoint being near where Curyl was hiding, a place Lucifer had marked before. Lucifer didn't appear immediately to observe Curyl's reaction. Now that her observation was complete, it was time to act.
Upon hearing the voice, Curyl's reaction was swift as she did not waste unnecessary time looking back. In a life-and-death situation where every second counted, she concentrated all her power in her hand, using her body as a temporary weapon, and struck with a palm strike.
Bang!
However, her full-force attack was firmly grasped by Lucifer's left hand. The magical power accumulated by Curyl was compressed and dispersed within the opponent's palm due to external forces, resulting in no effective damage being inflicted.
"If your game is over, please accompany me."
Lucifer lifted her right hand and, with a touch on Curyl's shoulder, sent her flying into the air. Subsequently, Curyl's body rapidly ascended and then began to fall swiftly. During this descent, her orientation changed, allowing her, in a fleeting moment of downward visibility, to see the face lifted by the opponent.
"Wait, you're not…"
Thud!
The fist struck Curyl's abdomen upon her descent. Although it wasn't painful, it instantly caused her to lose consciousness.
"Now that you've seen my face, you can't easily go back."
After these words dissipated in the wind, the two figures disappeared from the spot.
When Lucia emerged, the meeting had already concluded. Before leaving the building, she deliberately searched for a while to ensure her junior was not present before finally stepping outside. Lucia felt a sense of relief after shaking off the entanglement and a thought naturally arose in her mind, "Has she gone home? I hope nothing unexpected happens to her." Lucia's lips parted for a moment, then quickly closed again before embarking on her journey home.
