On and Under the Bed

Since they had no choice but to share the same room, some rules had to be discussed beforehand:

Night's first snow pointed to her own designated bed, then tiptoed on the floor, preliminarily dividing their territories.

"Sister, you can lend the little thief a blanket, so tonight you'll sleep wrapped in it on the floor, and I'll sleep on the bed. How about that?"

If it were one of those male leads who prided themselves on being "Asasi," they would surely nod gently with a soft expression, agreeing to the girl's proposal.

Unfortunately, here, there wasn't a single gentle male to be found.

"No! Why can't you sleep on the floor?"

In the instant the words fell, he missed a chance to gain favorability points.

"This is sister's room, so of course sister sleeps on the bed. Don't worry, there's a temperature-regulating crystal in this room, so the floor isn't cold at all."

"I know it's not cold, I can feel the heating in the room, but sleeping on the floor is still uncomfortable."

"If you're comfortable, then sister won't be. We can't discuss and divide our territories on the bed? You sleep on the right, and I'll sleep on the left, so everyone can be happy."

Saying this, Wang Xiaole began his invasion of the bed, from limbs to that head, everything relentlessly moving towards the soft spots.

"Instead of sharing, sister would rather enjoy happiness alone."

Night's first snow hesitated to touch him with her hands and extended her straight legs out, using her toes to press against his abdomen, preventing Wang Xiaole from approaching.

"In that case, let's decide the winner with rock-paper-scissors. If you win, I'll obediently lie on the floor, and if you lose, you have to follow my way."

"I don't think that's necessary."

"No, it is necessary. If you disagree, I'll go out and tell those girls that we are not in a romantic relationship! You just happened to be seen by me accidentally."

Before Wang Xiaole could finish, night's first snow gritted her teeth, threatening, "Which rule will determine the winner, best of three or one round?"

"One round is enough..."

"Your word is your bond..."

Both reached behind them, eyes locked on each other, waiting to see who would gesture first.

Right before throwing their moves, each prayed silently in their hearts:

"Dear sister, please protect me... never mind, not reliable."

"Ancestors, please help your descendants win!”

"Freya, you are a goddess, blessing me to win shouldn't be too difficult."

"Thinking ahead for your future snacks, make sure I win!"

Staking their claim for the bed's dominion tonight, they both took a deep breath and in unison shouted, "Rock-paper-scissors!"

In that decisive moment, the victorious side let out a triumphant laughter as if they had just been struck by a barbell: "Hahaha!"

The defeated side looked dejected, akin to a sunken ship. Wang Xiaole reluctantly believed that this victory was brought by the goddess.

Meanwhile, night's first snow, in her nightwear, felt betrayed by her ancestors.

With the results settled, Wang Xiaole proudly exerted his rights as the winner, lying back on the bed soon after.

Having pulled the blanket off her head, night's first snow raised an eyebrow and stared at the man on the bed for a while.

"Next time, sister will never lose again."

Like most losers, she defiantly declared these words before tucking herself in the blanket and lying down on the floor.

And so, that night came to an end—

But wait, it didn't!

Both fell asleep quickly, though their sleeping quality was markedly different.

Wang Xiaole, accustomed to being disturbed, would occasionally wake up after one or two hours of sleep.

Tonight, he woke up halfway through, seemingly feeling less crowded.

"Today it doesn't feel cramped, what a rare occurrence."

In a daze, he reached out to touch his sides.

Based on prior experiences, if he felt something large and soft beside him, with his hand sinking into a deep groove, it was Lucia; if it was barely noticeable and the skin felt particularly smooth, it was Bai Meow; if he felt a proximity increasing slowly, it was surely Cai; covering and nibbling on his hand like a pig's trotter meant it was Freya; and if he didn't feel any fur, he was lucky to have the whole bed to himself!

Today might just be his lucky day, waking up to realize he was alone.

"Not hearing the noisy snoring, not getting tossed around like a sandwich... I actually feel uncomfortable!?”

Changes in oneself are often unnoticed and rarely positive.

"I hope they're doing well lately. When Sia returns, she better not start arguing with her disciple again..."

The latter sentence represented an unattainable dream, but Wang Xiaole wasn't giving up, not ruling out the slim possibility of it coming true.

He tried to relax and get back to sleep, laying on the bed with his gaze wandering aimlessly.

But as he turned, he noticed the girl wrapped in the blanket, slightly concerned:

Even though the room's temperature was regulated, wouldn't the floor be cold?

Unable to resist boredom-induced thoughts, he muttered to himself, "Seems a bit chilly."

Grumbling, he decided to take his blanket and gently lay it next to her for added warmth. Satisfied with his impromptu act of kindness, he went back to sleep.

Ye Chuxue didn't show any signs of waking up, her breathing steady.
