Chapter 4 Cowardice and Silence (2)

Choosing silence is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice made for the next outburst.

Currently, all major forces in the north and south are gearing up for action, yet the six major forces of the world remain unmoved. Among them, the most powerful force belongs to the Martial Hall Sect Master of the Heaven and Earth Sect, which is shrouded in mystery. It is said that this person, despite appearing inactive on ordinary days, has secretly eliminated several other hall masters, most notably the murder of Long Kui, the hall master of the Heaven Heart Hall of the Heaven and Earth Sect!

Although Long Kui of the Heaven Heart Hall was originally the definite successor for the next Sect Master of the Heaven and Earth Sect.

"I do not believe there is a Celestial Emperor in this world, nor do I believe in any other gods. However, I appreciate your choice, your dedication. I appreciate and respect the things you believe in, but..."

"But?" Ye Juxi inquired.

"But... of course, I understand Minister Ye's intentions very well. However, with the treacherous ministers causing chaos in the court now, your voluntary submission brings some comfort to me but also raises some concerns..."

The Emperor expressed his thoughts in a roundabout way, which left Ye Juxi somewhat disappointed.

Because of his faith and sacrifice, the silence he endured has transformed the Emperor into a better, more valuable ruler.

Or maybe it has given Ye Juxi that possibility at least!

Although it seemed like a show of respect towards him on the surface, those words did not sit well with Ye Juxi as they made him doubt the Emperor's trust in him even more.

"Hehe," after a cold chuckle, Ye Juxi turned to leave, "Regardless of whether Your Majesty believes or not, the changing circumstances in the world may render my advice useless."

"W-wait, that's not what I meant!"

"Your Majesty, doubts won't bring us anything. After all... hmph, they are worthless."

Before the Emperor could stop Ye Juxi, he had already vanished into thin air under the moonlight.

Watching his retreating figure, the Emperor could only place his hands behind his back and quietly sigh as he gazed up at the eaves, "Ah, Minister Ye, do you know what exactly I believe in?"

The world of emperors is always different from that of ordinary people; such is the charm of power...

Ancestors had experienced so much before, even communicating with kings. I slowly began to understand their meanings, but why did they leave behind this almost discarded and tattered book?

This question had been boggling my mind, making me forget the presence of my grandmother and Yukari.

*cough cough* "Boy, seems like you've been ignoring us, huh?" Yukari walked towards me, cracking her knuckles.

Being too engrossed in the book in my hands, I unintentionally neglected Yukari and my grandmother. As they were about to scold me, my grandmother's gaze was captivated by the book in my hands.

She swiftly stepped forward, snatched the book from me, and squinted at me, asking, "Grandson, where did you find this book?"

"What do you mean, where did I find it?"

"Of course, this book!!"

She seemed more concerned about the book's origin than Yukari, continuously pressing on the matter.

Indeed, where did the book come from? Oh, right!

Early this morning just like any other day, I washed my face, brushed my teeth, then proceeded to the attic to tidy up my father's belongings, and finally took a hot bath... Wait, tidy up the attic?!

(Flashback)

"Good morning, a new day!" I lazily greeted.

It was going to be a troublesome day again. I wondered what useless stuff my dad had hidden away this time.

Oh, my father was a total oddball, always collecting peculiar items. This trait even resonated with my grandfather to some degree.

Although Yukari and Mom had scolded him numerous times, he stubbornly guarded his collections, warning them not to have any ill intentions towards his treasures.

These things weren't significant. At the moment, I didn't care about their opinions; as long as I believed in my father, it was enough.

"Looking at Dad's stuff makes me uncomfortable. In a realistic sense, perhaps he believes these treasures will have great value in the future."

I would explain this to them, but Yukari and Mom would either mock me or roll their eyes.

This family constantly fell short of my expectations, hinting at an underlying sense of destiny, a potential mission.

At least after my father passed away, taking care of his belongings had become my routine.

Now, thinking back, I vividly remember my father’s words. He worked far away from our hometown.

"Get out, every one of you! Besides Juxi, no one is allowed to touch these things!" Father angrily proclaimed.

I didn't know why no one except me could touch them, but it clearly showed that to him, family was less important than a mere pile of junk.
