Chapter 122: Fighting on Two Fronts (10)

“What?”

The men whose pistols had been shot out of their hands all cried out in shock at the same time.

“Damn it, don’t look down on us!”

One of the guys, who was a bit late pulling out his gun earlier, raised it and aimed straight at Arashikaze Manami. Because he’d drawn it slightly later than the others, it seemed he’d slipped past her notice.

Only now did Manami seem to spot him, and at this point it was already impossible for her to disarm him or dodge.

The next instant—

“Bang—!”

A sharp gunshot cracked through the air.

At the same time, someone let out a shout.

But it wasn’t Manami’s voice.

“What?!”

It was the man’s cry, full of disbelief, as the bullet knocked his gun flying from his hand.

“Honestly, President Arashikaze, you really should pay a bit more attention.”

Reimi Katsuragi, wearing that monkey mascot suit, leisurely shook the pistol in her hand as she spoke.

Taking advantage of that brief opening, someone tried to quietly pick up one of the guns that had been shot away earlier, but—

“Don’t move!”

A sharp warning stopped him cold.

Manami smiled slightly.

“Well, with Katsuragi-san watching my back, I really don’t have to worry.”

“Haah… Good thing I borrowed this gun from the police beforehand.”

“Come to think of it, Katsuragi-san’s marksmanship is as terrifying as ever. There’s no way a normal high school girl should be able to do that.”

“If you’re going to say that, President Arashikaze, you’re the same. And Amagi Asuka too. She might not have any other abilities, but she’s still scary enough—knocking a grown man flat just like that? No matter how you spin it, that’s not normal high school girl stuff.”

“No, compared to you two, that’s nothing. For a high schooler to pull the trigger without even hesitating like that…”

Asuka replied modestly.

“In the end, I guess none of us really count as normal high school girls.”

“Yeah, pretty much.”

“Can’t say you’re wrong.”

Manami and Asuka both nodded in agreement with Reimi’s comment.

At that moment, the man pinned under Asuka—the leader—finally spoke up.

“Even if you’ve got us under control right now, don’t forget we still have other comrades.”

Reimi, still in the monkey suit, answered calmly.

“Oh, you mean the guys in the broadcast room watching the camera feeds? I don’t know exactly how many there were, but they’re already taken care of.”

Hearing that, the man let out a shocked cry.

“What? What’s that supposed to mean?”

“What, you still don’t get it? Did you forget something?”

With that reminder, something seemed to click in his mind.

“Don’t tell me…”

“That’s right. The police outside are handling things over there. Now that they know the hostages are safe, they’ve got no reason to just keep standing around outside like idiots.”

“In other words…”

“Yeah. Judging from the time… your buddies are probably all just about subdued by now.”

“…”

He never imagined that so many people would get taken down so easily by just three girls.

The man was so stunned he couldn’t say a word.

Even though he felt it was already over, Reimi didn’t relax in the slightest.

Still, this wasn’t the time to be dragging things out. It was basically wrapped up anyway.

Thinking that, Reimi raised her gun again and announced in a laid-back tone,

“There’s a saying, ‘Ninety miles into a hundred-mile journey is only halfway done.’ It’s not over till the very end. Let’s hurry up and finish this. We’re running out of time.”
