Chapter 30: The Silent Bystander
In a hotel room in Kanagawa City, a young man in a black suit, with gray hair and a confident smile, was dialing his boss's private line. Karen Beet was a capable individual and it showed.
"How did things go? Although I suppose it's pointless to ask," he said.
"Of course, no traces were left," came the voice on the other side. Even though they were communicating, the screen in front of Karen only displayed a dark shadow.
After completing his report, Karen continued, "However, I found something unexpected!"
"Oh..." The voice on the other side sounded intrigued. Curious, Karen succinctly explained what he had discovered.
"Ha ha, I never expected someone to be doing such an interesting thing!"
Though Karen couldn't see his boss's face at the moment, he could imagine Roc Will looking quite interested.
Karen then proceeded to ask for instructions from his boss, Roc Will. "So, should we intervene, Lord Roc?"
"No need."
Karen's proposal was quickly rejected.
"If we continue like this, it will have a significant impact. This country, or rather, this entire world might be overthrown, and it would also affect the current balance between countries. The situation of the world might be changed," Roc explained.
Karen tried to explain the current situation, hoping to change his boss's decision.
"Indeed, if things continue like this, that could very well happen. However, it seems things won't go so smoothly," Roc responded.
"..."
"Moreover, it is quite a coincidence that the source of this incident is that woman. However, there must be someone else behind it, and there is someone hiding in the shadows, but they are hard to detect."
"..."
"While this may be tempting, it is ultimately impossible to succeed. No matter what, this country is bound to change, especially since the National Council is involved."
"?"
Karen seemed puzzled.
"Our opponent this time is of A-level caliber, not someone an ordinary person can defeat. Though there are indeed individuals capable of stopping this incident in this country, as far as I can see, they won't act rashly. After all, they will be opposing the whole country, and the country's stance has always been like an impenetrable wall. Even if they win in the end, it will cost them dearly. To begin with, there won't be many benefits, and it won't be easy to escape unscathed. I don't think those people would overlook this fact, considering their expertise in weighing pros and cons."
"While that may be true, this world still has everything, whether it's those so-called justicemakers who act righteously or... Otherwise, let's make a bet and see how this incident ends. Based on my estimation, we won't have to wait for long."
"Understood, Lord Roc."
After finishing the conversation, the screen automatically closed. Though it was hard to believe, there was no doubt in Karen's mind. If Lord Roc said so, then it must be so. His perspective could never be wrong. The only remaining question was how the final outcome would unfold. Since his boss had spoken, Karen could only choose to stay on the sidelines.
