Chapter 19: Unexpected Call from an Unexpected Person
update icon Updated at 2023/7/27 2:10:12

The location is the special holding room in the city police station, where special prisoners are kept. It is situated in the hallway leading to this place.

"Although it is a bank robber, there is no need for you to personally interrogate. Such a small matter can be handled by someone lower-ranking. As long as you need it, I am willing to do anything for you, even if it means walking through fire and water without hesitation."

The chief of the city police station flattered the young woman, trying his best to please her.

Facing the chief's flattery, the young woman didn't pay much attention. She quickly walked towards her destination. This woman is none other than the person who gave orders to the police at the bank, the colonel referred to by the police, still wearing all-black attire.

They arrived at the door of the special holding room quickly. The chief of police cleverly stepped forward to clear the way for his superior. Well, although she is not a direct superior, in the eyes of subordinates, the superior is everything!

"Hey, open the door quickly. Colonel is here to personally interrogate."

The chief of police commanded the guard at the door loudly, his voice completely different from the one used to flatter his superior. It's unclear who he was trying to impress.

"Lady, please come in!"

After the door opened, the chief of police politely gestured for his superior to enter first. After she went in, he quickly followed behind, acting as the guide.

Wait, something doesn't seem right here. Isn't the guide supposed to walk in front? How come they are leading from behind?

"Those people are in the innermost room."

The chief of police dutifully carried out his guiding responsibilities. When they were close to the room door, he quickly circled around from behind again and rushed forward to unlock the door himself, using the key card he had obtained earlier from the guard.

By the way, when did he get the key card? I didn't see it at all. Could he be the legendary thief?

At the moment the door opened, Colonel Mitsu Mori realized that something was wrong. Before the door was fully opened, she rushed in swiftly.

"Tsk... Am I too late again? Although I expected the other party to be like this, their speed is too fast, as if they knew from the beginning that they would come here."

Colonel Mitsu Mori was shocked to see the dead bank robber in front of her.

The once diligent chief of police had already collapsed on the ground, it seems that all the efforts along the way were in vain.

"Hmm, it seems a bit early to go to sleep now."

After Ryuto came out of the bathroom, he stared at the clock on the wall and started to contemplate.

"Well, I should go back to my room and play games. There seem to be quite a few new games piled up recently..."

The pressure is really overwhelming.

Having made up his mind, Ryuto headed towards the stairs.

Just then,

"Ding Dong... Ding Dong..."

The doorbell suddenly rang.

"Huh? Someone at this hour?"

Puzzled, Ryuto turned his body and walked towards the entrance.

"I'm coming, who is it?"

When the door opened, a young man in a delivery uniform stood in front of him.

"Hello, I have a package for you."

"A package?"

I don't remember buying anything, what's going on? Did they deliver it to the wrong place?

Baffled, Ryuto couldn't help but wonder, as if to deny Ryuto's thoughts,

"Is this Amagi Ryuto's house?"

The deliveryman confirmed again.

"Yes, that's me."

"Then please sign here."

Saying that, the deliveryman handed over the delivery slip.

Hmm... Although I don't know what's going on, it seems like they didn't deliver it to the wrong place. So Ryuto didn't hesitate much and quickly signed the slip.

After receiving the package and seeing off the deliveryman, Ryuto decided to bring the package inside for now.

"Ryuto-sama, what happened just now?"

Just as he entered the house, Hiyori, who had come downstairs from the second floor, met him. As expected, she was wearing a shrine maiden outfit, but there was no problem with that at home.

"Hmm... it was just a delivery."

"A delivery?"

Hiyori tilted her head again at the sudden appearance of an unfamiliar term.It feels like explaining it would never end.

"Well, it's just an object."

"So it's just an object."

Upon hearing this, Hiyori had a sudden realization on her face.

Can this explanation be accepted? It's really...

So Ryuto didn't inquire further and directly opened the package, and what appeared before his eyes was...

"A cell phone?"

After seeing the object, Ryuto became puzzled again.

"I don't remember buying a cell phone."

"Master Ryuto, what is a cell phone?"

Hiyori became confused again because of the unfamiliar term.

"A cell phone...it's a device for long-distance communication."

"What? You can communicate from a distance?"

Hiyori showed a surprised expression upon hearing this.

There's no need to be so surprised. In my opinion, your shrunken talismans are even cooler.

Just then.

"Hum-"

The cell phone started vibrating. Upon checking, it was from an unknown number. It seems the owner of the package is calling, but can they be called the owner? It was clearly sent to me.

"Oh, the strange box is moving."

Upon seeing this, Hiyori had a surprised expression again.

Hmm...that reaction is a bit...where are you from, miss?

So Ryuto decided not to comment.

He pressed the answer button immediately.

"Hello, who is this?"

"Judging by the look of things, the package arrived on time."

The person on the other end started with some inexplicable words. It could be heard that it was a young man's voice.

Um...who are you exactly?

"Since it's like this, let me just say it directly. Good evening, I am the mastermind behind your assassination."

"..."
