Chapter 17: Everyone with their own motives

After Ryuto came home carrying several large bags, he was already exhausted. He didn't even have the energy to unload the bags and plopped down on the sofa.

"Ah, today was really tiring!"

"Um, Lord Ryuto, where's Miss Asuka?"

"It seems like she had some student council business at school! Being a member of the student council is really busy, even on weekends. I wonder when she'll be back."

"I see. In that case, Lord Ryuto, please rest. I'll go make dinner."

"Oh, thank you!"

"Alright!"

Hiyori said and headed towards the kitchen.

"Wow, is this what they called a 'normal' daily life?"

With nothing else to do, Ryuto started reading the manga he had just bought.

After a while, he noticed something unusual. Why was there such a strong smell?

Curious, he got up and followed the scent.

Then, he saw the legendary "foam world," a large amount of foam pouring out of the washing machine.

"What's going on?" Ryuto couldn't help but exclaim.

At that moment, Hiyori rushed over after hearing the sound, holding a spatula.

"I was washing clothes while cooking. What's wrong, Lord Ryuto?"

Hiyori wasn't surprised by the scene in front of her. Maybe she thought this was how doing laundry worked, as she had a calm expression.

"Let me ask, Hiyori, how much laundry detergent did you put in?"

"You mean the stuff in that bag? I didn't see much, so I poured all of it in. Would it clean better that way?"

Hiyori replied in a somewhat proud tone.

"It certainly cleaned well." Ryuto sighed helplessly.

Why do washing machines come with instructions but not guidelines for how much detergent to use? Is this a matter of expertise or inexperience?

"Alright, Hiyori, you better go make dinner."

"Okay."

After answering, Hiyori returned to the kitchen.

Ryuto felt unusually tired today. Finally finishing his clean-up efforts, he dragged himself back to the living room.

I hope the kitchen doesn't suddenly explode, Ryuto prayed in his heart.

Not long after, he heard Hiyori's voice.

"Lord Ryuto, dinner is ready. You can come over."

"Oh, that was quick. By the way, I'm starving."

Ryuto put down the manga and walked quickly over. However, he froze when he saw what was on the table.

There were several dishes on the table, all of them unfamiliar.

Ryuto pointed at something in the middle with a slightly changed voice. "Hiyori, what's that soup in the middle?"

"Oh, that's miso soup. We have it for every meal where I'm from."

"Why do I see a bunch of white stuff in the middle?"

"Oh, that's salt. It's for seasoning. It's necessary, and I almost forgot to put it in."

Hiyori answered somewhat happily.

Even if it's necessary, there's no need to put in so much.

"Haha, is that so? What about this?" Ryuto forced a smile and pointed to a plate nearby.

"This is grilled fish!"

Hiyori puffed out her chest and answered with a slightly proud tone.

"Really? I couldn't tell! Haha."

Ryuto couldn't help but smile bitterly again. Why does it look like a piece of charcoal to me? Although he still wanted to ask what the other dishes were, he decided it would be better not to ask.

"Come on, Lord Ryuto, try it."

Hiyori happily waved her hand at Ryuto, urging him to sit down. In response, Ryuto hesitated, which was rare for him.

This won't do. I can't be deceived by appearances alone. Even if it doesn't look good, it might taste good. Maybe. Probably. Saying these words with uncertainty, even to himself, was perhaps because he sensed the danger and his body instinctively reacted with rejection. Therefore, Ryuto exerted a lot of effort to force himself.

Then, with slightly trembling hands, Ryuto slowly picked up his chopsticks and picked up a "dish." It looked like a desperate struggle. He glanced at Hiyori next to him and saw her smiling happily.I seem to have some regrets now, but I can't back out at this point. I can't speak up, I don't want to eat. No matter what, I can't say those words. Well, let's give it a try!

Ryuto almost made the biggest decision of his life and took a bite decisively. Should I say it was expected? In the next moment, a subtle feeling came over him and Ryuto reflexively let out a scream, falling to the ground and losing consciousness. He almost foamed at the mouth, maybe because he hadn't eaten anything. It was beyond just a bad taste, it was deadly. It was like a mass destruction weapon. Even Ryuto couldn't help but admire his own bravery.

Ryuto subconsciously thought like this, forcibly rallying his spirits and getting up.

"What's wrong, Lord Ryuto?"

Hiyori looked at Ryuto with a slightly worried look.

"It's nothing. I was just too tired today and accidentally fell asleep."

Ryuto waved his hand to dismiss her, expressing his doubts.

"Hiyori, have you cooked before?"

"No, I haven't. I've always been practicing, so I was really nervous when I cooked just now."

"To be able to cook like this on your first try, it's really impressive!"

"Is it? Then, Lord Ryuto, please eat quickly, or it will get cold!"

Hiyori urged Ryuto.

"I see, I should eat quickly then."

A true warrior faces the bleakness of life and the splattering of blood. Well, maybe I haven't reached that point yet. Ryuto gritted his teeth and began this battle without gunpowder.

Ryuto couldn't hold on anymore before finishing his meal and immediately stood up, gesturing with his hand.

"Wait, my stomach hurts. I need to go to the bathroom..."

He ran towards the bathroom before finishing his sentence, feeling like he didn't even have time to waste.

Hiyori stood outside the bathroom, constantly bowing her head in apology.

"I'm sorry, Lord Ryuto. I shouldn't have tried to cook even though I can't. I messed up. I'm really sorry."

"It's alright, don't worry about it."

Ryuto weakly replied from inside.

*****************************************************

The location is a library somewhere. The library is large, with shelves densely arranged and books neatly placed, indicating responsible librarians. Such a library should have many people, but because it's already dinner time, there are few people in the library, making it feel deserted.

In a room deep in the library called the "Exclusive VIP" room, a long-haired girl sat with her legs crossed at a computer desk. Behind her were bookshelves with books that were completely different from those outside, both in terms of content and appearance.

The entrance to this room had an electronic lock that required fingerprints and a password to enter, indicating the importance of the books inside in every aspect.

The girl held a book in her hand, reading it for a while before closing it and rubbing her eyes with a slightly anxious tone.

"The Tsuchimikado Family is a family of onmyoji, and the current head of the family, Taibei Tsuchimikado, is one of the top-ranked S-class magicians. He hasn't been involved in worldly matters, but now he's taking such action... No matter how you look at it, the biggest problem lies with Tsuchimikado Hiyori. And that magic power I felt at that time..."

Just as the girl began to feel anxious, her phone on the table rang. When she picked it up, she saw that it was a dedicated line without caller ID, but the girl seemed to know who it was and answered naturally.

"It's Mitori."

The girl said with a certain tone, and the other person on the line started speaking with a respectful tone.

"Yes, the task has been completed."

From the voice, it could be heard that the caller was the colonel who had conveyed the instructions earlier, the woman with two daggers.

The girl didn't answer, and Mitori continued reporting.

"Although it was somewhat unexpected, the initial goal has been achieved... What remains now is...""The next thing must be done quickly, and then it will be hard afterwards," the girl comforted her subordinate, and then hung up the phone.

"Well then..."

The girl, having reached some conclusion, fell into contemplation once again.
