Act 623: How Dare He?!

Lying on the broad back of the dragon, Aya stared straight up at the cloudless sky.

The storm clouds had begun to disperse, but with a storm of that scale, it would probably take hours, or even days, for the sky to return to normal.

“So, are we really letting them live with us?”

Aya poked Her Highness the Princess in the thigh and asked in a low voice.

Her Highness the Princess nodded. She was letting the injured Aya use her lap as a pillow. “You’ve already met them, so there’s no point hiding anymore. What, were you planning to kick them out? Besides, we have spare rooms.”

“If I could, I’d kind of like to… But never mind.”

“Why are you being so stingy, you little brat? They’re only staying for a few days.”

The giant dragon beneath them shuddered, and Anticas’s disgruntled voice rang out.

Aya wasn’t about to be nice to the bastard old man who’d just beaten her to a pulp. She stuck out her tongue, made a face at him, and shut her mouth.

“Oh, right.”

To keep anyone from overhearing, Aya switched to the telepathic communication channel in their contract. “About the Dragon Knight contract… have you told them?”

“Uh, not yet.” Her Highness the Princess faltered, then answered quietly.

“…No wonder you’re so calm!”

Aya clutched her head, looking utterly exasperated.

“I told you, I’m not mentally prepared to meet them as your future wife yet.” Tiran muttered in embarrassment.

Besides, more than the contract, what Tiran was really concerned about right now was the red dragon girl, Doris, sitting nearby under Aya’s strict orders not to move.

She hadn’t even grown up yet, but she was already thinking about Aya’s body every day. This kid really did have a few screws loose.

“Hey! Why are you staring at Doris? You little homewrecker! I’ll bite you!”

Noticing Tiran’s gaze, the girl immediately bristled like an angry kitten. A displeased rumble rose in her throat, as if she might pounce at any moment.

“Doris, don’t move. Lady Tiran hasn’t even done anything to you. At least try to be nice to her.”

Aya sighed.

“Okay! Doris won’t move!”

At Aya’s words, the girl immediately sat up straight and stayed perfectly still. She shot Tiran a resentful look. “But Doris will never forgive this woman! She’s trying to steal my big brother!”

“I was here first!”

Getting worked up, Doris started waving her hands around again to show how unhappy she was.

“Sit still. Don’t move!”

“Okaaay~ Hmm, is this what they call ‘being made to sit still’? Okay! Big brother, if there’s anything else you want to try, just tell Doris. She’ll make sure to study up on it!” The red-haired girl returned to her formal kneeling position, her eyes sparkling.

There was no saving this kid.

Hey, Aya, tell her to keep her mouth shut too.

Aya and Tiran exchanged a glance. They saw helplessness and bewilderment in each other’s eyes.

“These kids are so lively. It must be hard for the last red dragon to keep her kind going. If you decide to help her, Mommy supports you~”

Miss Ruko, still flying in dragon form beside Anticas, suddenly drifted closer and whispered.

“Absolutely not!” Her Highness the Princess crossed her arms in front of herself to make a big X and gritted out the words.

“Oh my, Lady Tiran, you’re awfully worked up… Could it be that you’re little Aya’s girlfriend?” It was amazing. Miss Ruko’s dragon face was covered in scales, yet Tiran could still read the look of a gossip-hungry onlooker on her future mother-in-law’s face.

“I-I am!”

She didn’t mention the Dragon Knight contract, but when it came to their relationship, Tiran readily admitted it.

“I knew it! You thieving little cat! Doris is going to bite you to death today!”

“Doris, sit still. And don’t talk!”

“Okay~ Doris will do whatever big brother says~”

“Well, the kids certainly have plenty of energy.” Miss Ruko beamed.

This kid really listened to Aya way too well. Tiran glanced at Aya with concern, only to catch a strange look on her face.

How to put it? Surprise? Delight? And a faint, blissful smile that hinted at a taste for taking control…

“Hey, hey! Aya, don’t tell me you’ve awakened some weird kink?! Don’t give up on treatment!”

Tiran grabbed Aya by the collar and shook her vigorously.

“No, no! You’re imagining things!” Aya hurriedly waved her hands, but a trace of longing still flickered in her eyes.

A cute little sister who listened and would do anything you asked—wasn’t that every man’s idea of paradise, in a way?

“You wavered just now, didn’t you? You absolutely wavered!”

Her Highness the Princess widened her eyes and bit down hard on her lower lip, as if she’d steeled herself to do something. “I-if Aya likes it, I can be like her too.”

“Huh?” Happiness had come so suddenly that Aya tilted her head, a little dazed.

“Mmmph! Mmmph mmmph mmmph! (You wicked woman! Don’t try to seduce big brother with the same tricks Doris uses!)” (╬◣д◢)

“Looks like little Aya’s doing just fine, even without Mommy and Daddy around~ And what an impressive girl you are, finding such an amazing girlfriend.”

Tiran hadn’t expected Ruko to show no sign of disapproval toward Her Highness the Princess.

“So Lady Tiran really is that brat’s girlfriend? Tch. The kid sure landed a good one.”

Anticas, carrying Tiran, glanced back at them too.

“What’s that supposed to mean?! How did I ‘land a good one’?! I won her fair and square!”

So this is what they call a love triangle… I’ll remember this, Aya-senpai.

The little Angel flew close behind Aya’s dragon parents, keeping up on her own wings as she silently watched the scene and prayed to her big sister for Aya.

Things were getting a little chaotic, and what broke up the love triangle was an entirely unexpected turn of events.

Along their otherwise steady descent, an enormous golden-green fireball rose into the sky. It was as large as an ordinary house, and it shot straight toward Anticas and Ruko.

“Honey!”

Anticas reacted first. His roar sent out a ring of white shockwaves. Powerful currents of air and dragon breath enveloped the enormous fireball as he swiftly raised a protective barrier.

BOOM!

The dragon breath detonated the fireball prematurely with a deafening blast. Golden flames scattered in every direction. Some of the fiery rain splashed against the barrier and broke apart; fortunately, it wasn’t powerful enough to threaten the Golden Dragon’s magical defenses.

“Even the Gold-Burning Azure Flame couldn’t break through… So it really is an adult Golden Dragon. This won’t be an easy opponent.”

In the high-altitude wind, Domingosen’s robe whipped violently. In front of him stood a towering warrior, holding a massive axe-shield and as immovable as an iron wall.

“That was only a warning! Golden Dragon, leave the human world! We don’t want to be your enemy, but don’t disrupt the order of the human world either!”

Domingosen cast a spell to amplify his voice, and the old man’s words rang across the sky.
