Act 530: The Wrong Way to Infiltrate

"Stop right there! If you keep running, we will consider you a serious threat and use force!"

"Captain, why are you being polite to the thief! Hey! You, get your ass in line and stand still, don't move. If I don't smash your dog head today, I'll just feed my knight emblem to the dogs!"

On the walls of Gilliast Castle, not particularly tall but quite sizable, two night guards were chasing after an unexpected guest sprinting ahead in a linen robe.

"Sorry, it wasn't intentional—?! "

Sullivan, covering his face with the hood he wore while driving, turned back helplessly and shouted, a bit slower than usual, forced to roll forward and get up to continue running when a spear was thrown at him.

I really didn't expect it to be so coincidental.

The holy knight was also helpless. Although he had considered that there would be guards patrolling on the wall and had even specifically waited for a group of torch-bearing guards to pass before starting to climb, he still didn't expect to run into two guards slacking off under the battlements as soon as he got on the wall!

Sullivan even resented the guards who had just passed through a little bit. Can't your colleagues at least have some reaction so I can notice? Pretending not to have seen anything is too irresponsible, right!

Of course, if it was just a normal intrusion and no hostile actions had been taken yet, it wouldn't make the guards so angry.

Hmm, if it weren't for such a coincidence...

Sullivan glanced at the guard who had just thrown a javelin at him. In the slightly dim firelight on the wall, a shoe print landed right on a line from the bridge of the nose to the forehead.

Fortunately, they didn't come up with Johannes, otherwise with one more Theurg trying to escape, they would probably be caught halfway. But continuing to run wasn't a solution either. Should he turn back to deal with the pursuers quickly and then sneak in, or should he retreat quickly?

The castle guards were all carefully selected knights. Faced with two people, he should be able to win...

"But it seems we don't have that option."

Noticing footsteps coming from ahead at the staircase, Sullivan changed direction, bracing himself against the battlements, and jumped down the wall directly.

"This guy!"

They were completely caught off guard by Sullivan's wild escape route.

Being pulled downward by gravity after jumping off the wall, Sullivan pulled out a short sword from his waist and fiercely thrust it into a gap in the wall bricks to try to slow down the fall.

The height of this section of the wall wasn't too high. With his skill, a single cushioning and a good landing roll would ensure he wasn't injured.

But just like when he had stepped on the guard's face as soon as he got on the wall, it seemed that the holy knight's luck wasn't good tonight.

The crisp sound of cracking and the sudden loss of sensation in his right hand made Sullivan feel uneasy.

The sword actually broke? At this moment?!

He had never expected that his trusty lightweight steel sword would reach its limit at this critical moment, rendering all the calculated landing trajectories and buffering poses in his mind useless.

There was no other choice. Although he didn't want to reveal his identity that might alert the guards to his holy Chi by any means, in this situation, he had no choice.

Just as silver flames began to flicker in Sullivan's eyes, something suddenly broke through the ground below, growing at an unreasonable speed.

"What is this?"

Neither Sullivan nor the guards on the wall had reacted yet when Sullivan had already fallen on the large plant with inflated soft pods that had suddenly broken through the ground, not only unharmed but even slightly bounced.

Since he had landed safely, Sullivan didn't have time to think too much. He rolled with the momentum, landed, and quickly disappeared into the woods under the wall out of the guards' sight.

After running a few hundred meters in the woods, when he no longer had the castle wall's top in sight at the treetops, Sullivan stopped to catch his breath.

"Phew... you ran too fast... What's the situation?"

After about a minute, Johannes ran over panting from the side. For a Theurg to sprint at full speed and keep up was quite challenging, so it was not easy for him to arrive in such a short time.

"It seems quite difficult to infiltrate after all."

Shaking his head, Sullivan looked hesitant to speak, "And just now, during the escape..."

"Hey~ it was Miss Vera who helped you just now."

From a tree behind Sullivan, a small figure suddenly descended on a vine, landed lightly, and greeted the two with a harmless smile.

"It's you!"

Seeing Vera, Johannes felt his blood pressure rise and almost couldn't resist casting a holy light spell at her.

The first time he was betrayed was during Milt's mission, and as one of the masterminds who had opened the gate to hell and caused the deaths of nearly ten thousand people, he had long been issued a special judgment order by the Holy See. In theory, anyone affiliated with the church should kill her on sight.

Sullivan's face didn't look good either. After abandoning the broken sword, he drew his true battle sword, tensed his muscles, and assumed a sword-style stance.

According to the church's records, although Vera's combat ability was on par with a great knight, her tactics were varied, and Sullivan and Johannes might not be able to defeat her.

"Wait a minute, I'm not here to fight you. That knight over there, I just helped you a bit earlier."

"Helped..."

Thinking back to the giant plant with giant pods that had suddenly grown out earlier, Sullivan raised an eyebrow, still steadily pointing the sword at Vera.

"Relax, don't worry. When Angelo gave you that blow in Milt, it was only because the situation forced it, it was all at Yuan's behest, I have no ill will."

"Who will believe you!"

Johannes casted a suppression magic circle with holy light around Vera like she a great enemy, he knew what Vera is capable to do so he dared not to let down his guard.

"It is real, and I have no any other purpose this time but only coming out to play, and also help you guys? Yeah, just that simple.

"What help?"

Vera just let the holy light suppress her and nodded towards the castle, "Didn't you guys just fail to sneak inside? I have done that once before."

"What she said....is real."

Though he was wary of Vera, but he knew about what Vera's last mission was from his teacher, which is confirmed.

"Anyway, you guys try to do something funny, so consider me in, I could help, besides, you can't catch me by yourself."

As she spoke, she reached her left hand and a pure white flower bloomed on her palm, then the light circle capturing her darken.

Was the plant absorbing the holy light?

Johannes noticed the roots under the ground.

"Fine..."
