Though the two Demon Kings were only testing the waters with their attacks, they were still formidable. Lei Yu Demon King's attacks were incredibly fast, while the Shadow Demon King's were bizarre and unpredictable.
“Crackle—!” But, to everyone's surprise, just as Lei Yu Demon King's lightning was about to strike Lucifer, it suddenly split apart, forming a dense web of lightning. Arcs shot in every direction toward the Shadow Demon King, who was attacking at the same time, shattering all of his illusions one by one.
“What do you mean by that, Lei Yu Demon King?” The Shadow Demon King reappeared a hundred paces away from Lei Yu Demon King, his expression dark. They were only simple allies, bound together by nothing more than a verbal agreement among several powerful Demon Lords.
“I didn't do it...” Lei Yu Demon King said at once.
“You didn't? So I just ran into it myself?” The Shadow Demon King's expression darkened further. He thought Lei Yu Demon King was trying to kill him and take the First Demon King Pillar for himself. After all, no demon could resist the temptation of a Demon King Pillar.
“I really didn't do it!” Lei Yu Demon King was at a loss for words.
“If it wasn't you, then was it her?” the Shadow Demon King said angrily.
“Just you wait. This isn't over!” the Shadow Demon King snarled, turning to leave—but a figure stepped into his path.
“What are you, to dare stand in my way?” Seeing Bexia in front of him only made the Shadow Demon King angrier. Even a lowly Demon God dared to block his path—as if they didn't take him, a Demon King, seriously at all.
“Die!” With his anger already burning, the Shadow Demon King formed a black blade and thrust it at Bexia's head.
“Whoosh—!” Gray energy gathered in Bexia's hand, forming a warblade. But just as he was about to strike, the black blade suddenly swerved and shot toward Lei Yu Demon King, behind the Shadow Demon King.
“Shadow Demon King, you—?!” Lei Yu Demon King hurriedly blocked the black blade, his gaze toward the Shadow Demon King turning even more hostile.
“It wasn't me...!” The Shadow Demon King frowned as soon as he spoke. He seemed to realize what was happening, and immediately retreated, warily eyeing Lucifer.
“She did this!” the Shadow Demon King said.
“This...” Lei Yu Demon King thought it over and quickly understood as well.
“Run!” A possibility flashed through the Shadow Demon King's mind. He spun around and fled, and Lei Yu Demon King vanished in an instant as well. They were both crafty old Demon Kings; the moment things looked wrong, they ran.
“You figured it out? But only now you want to leave...” A faint smile curled across Lucifer's lips. She didn't even bother to stop the two Demon Kings from running.
“Authority: Control!”
The next moment, an astonishing sight unfolded. The two fleeing Demon Kings had barely run off before they were back where they started.
“What's going on?” The two Demon Kings paled with shock and tried to flee again, only to return to the same spot at once. No matter what they did, they couldn't escape this little stretch of land.
“Lucifer, quit playing around. We've got business to take care of!” Bexia watched the two Demon Kings scurrying around like rats in a cage. This wasn't merely the gap of an entire rank—it was the gulf between the universe's mightiest beings and mere ants.
Sovereign Gods!
They stood at the very top of the universe, saw through the origins of the laws, and wielded the universe's rules. This was a new kind of power—a power that belonged to the universe itself. Those beneath the Sovereign Gods had no power to resist.
Only a Sovereign God could stand against another Sovereign God. Everyone beneath them was an ant. Otherwise, Sovereign Gods wouldn't be called the most supreme beings in the universe.
“Of course, Master!” Lucifer gave him a playful smile. At the sound of her calling him that, the two Demon Kings froze for a moment, then looked at Bexia in terror.
In the Abyss, Lucifer had always been known as the number-one Demon King at the Demon Lord's side. There was only one person she would call Master. The Shadow Demon King, especially, remembered that he'd just tried to attack Bexia. When he thought of who Bexia was, he felt as if his soul might flee his body in sheer terror.
“Y-you are...”
“Disperse,” Lucifer said softly, her red lips barely moving. A strange power burst from the two arrogant Demon Kings. The power within their bodies surged out like floodwater through a broken dam, becoming ownerless energy that returned to the world.
Once the two Demon Kings had vanished completely, the energy in this part of the Abyss grew dense all at once. Everything around them began to change beneath its influence: mountains rose from the ground, and black demonic trees sprang up like bamboo shoots after the rain.
“So where are we going next, Master~?” Lucifer pressed close to Bexia again, her slender arm winding around his and pressing it firmly into her cleavage. If she'd still carried an angel's modesty before, now she was a little demoness through and through.
“Stop fooling around. I'll go back to the Demon God camp first, then head to the Sea of the Abyss to reclaim my palace.” Bexia knew Lucifer was doing it on purpose. He affectionately brushed a strand of hair from her face as he spoke.
“Then what am I supposed to do?”
“Why not just come with me? As long as you don't make a move, I doubt many demons will be able to recognize who you are now.”
“I can hold back, but then my safety's in your hands, Master~! You'd better protect me properly!”
“Of course. I'll protect you up close...”
