The final battle between the ancient gods and the eight invaders of the universe eventually erupted. The terrifying power destroyed large areas of the universe, causing the ancient gods to fall one by one. Even the god king and goddess queen, Othales and Tineloy, were not spared, all perishing in this battle, recorded as the Twilight of the Gods!
Originally, the eight invaders of the universe were prepared to push the native universe to its destruction. However, they awakened the God of Endings, who had been slumbering in the void. Perhaps it was due to the universe's power not showing restraint, or maybe the universe's will bestowed power upon her, allowing her strength to surpass its limits. Additionally, after the recent battle the eight invaders experienced, and being in unfamiliar territory, they had no choice but to retreat when facing the God of Endings. This allowed the era of the ancient gods to continue surviving for tens of thousands of years.
The destruction of the era of the ancient gods and the land of the God of Endings seemed to become a special "extra" area. When facing the universe's reboot, many beings chose to enter here. Despite the harsh climate of the land of destruction, it held the only vitality in the universe, leaving them with no other choice!
However, the universe's reboot meant a complete restart, including the land of destruction. Although it was a place of void, it still contained cosmic energy. It was a region that could be described as existing yet not detached from the universe. The rules of the universe were not as apparent here, and with the resistance of the God of Endings, the reboot became even more challenging, until one day a massive deity appeared and battled the God of Endings.
All of this intertwined with a dream, and amidst the confusion, two golden lights descended upon the land of destruction. They resembled the ancient god king Othales and the ancient goddess Tineloy, but they were no longer the same. They were now the incarnations of cosmic will, the representatives of cosmic will in the mortal realm.
"No wonder I couldn't find any information about them, turns out they were protected by the cosmic will!" Bexia looked at the two figures. He had also protected them with the power of primordial chaos, but inexplicably couldn't harvest any godly souls. Initially, he thought they had been truly annihilated, but now it seemed that the cosmic will was pulling some strings behind the scenes.
Othales and Tineloy merged to become a giant ancient god, engaging in a dreadful battle with the God of Endings. Bexia watched all this unfold from the God of Endings' shoulder, witnessing everything clearly. Since the transformation of the God of Endings was successful, he had been by her side all along.
In a sense, he was the God of Endings' original playmate, her friend, her teacher, and even, one could say, her father. After all, if it weren't for Bexia absorbing some primordial chaos, the land of destruction wouldn't have come into being, and neither would the God of Endings.
The battle between the two giants was intense, seemingly evenly matched with neither able to defeat the other. However, Bexia became the only variable because during the battle, the power of the Book of Time within him suddenly weakened. The giant ancient gods, incarnated by Othales and Tineloy, noticed him and targeted him for attack.
The God of Endings fought to protect Bexia and met her demise. In the final moment, as the giant ancient gods tried to capture Bexia, the God of Endings struggled with the ancient gods at the cost of her life. Thus, Bexia felt his soul and body being separated, his soul absorbed by the giant ancient gods, while the physical form was embraced by the God of Endings into the deepest part of the land of destruction, with the power of the entire land protecting Bexia's body, forcing the ancient gods to retreat.
With that, the era of the ancient gods came to an end, but the land of destruction was not entirely rebooted!
Upon the restart of the new era, the power of primordial chaos influenced the body constructed of primordial chaos. Though devoid of his soul, Bexia's body instinctively absorbed a significant amount of primordial chaos, creating a new land of void in this era even larger than that of the ancient gods.
The lingering power of the deceased God of Endings permeated the area, filled with the unwillingness and resentment of the dead, creating a forbidding void environment with a frightening aura of destruction and the evil vengeance of the God of Endings, turning the region into a forbidden zone for most living beings. Eventually, it came to be known as the Cosmic Abyss!
As for Bexia, who was taken away by the giant ancient gods, at the moment of separation from his body, the power of the Book of Time enveloped his consciousness entirely into its remaining pages, leaving only a pure soul devoid of any past memories in the outside world.
Although Othales and Tineloy possessed some of the power of cosmic will, they were not cosmic will itself, and thus could not perceive the power of the Book of Time or the will hidden within it.
"Oh! This soul is so pure, and it carries a hint of primordial chaos!" Othales said, looking at Bexia's soul in his palm.
"Perhaps it is a yet unborn ancient god. The power of chaos is too strong, and the long gestation period is natural. It's just a pity that they haven't come into existence. Otherwise, we might not have suffered defeat so badly!" Tineloy sighed and shook her head. Suddenly, her eyes seemed to penetrate Bexia's soul, glimpsing something hidden within.
"This is..." Tineloy reached into Bexia's soul and pulled out some light points, exclaiming in surprise, "Such an ancient aura, this soul conceals so many remnants of souls!"
"Let me see..." Othales took a beam of light, feeling astonished after sensing it, "It actually carries the essence of a divine spirit from the era of order!"
"What are you planning to do with it?"
"...Let's entrust it to the World Tree!" After a moment of hesitation, Othales tossed all the light points into the void towards a towering tree.
"Rustle, rustle!" The leaves of the World Tree trembled slightly, catching the twelve light points, gradually condensing them into an illusory figure, their aura gradually improving from the broken state...
"It seems the World Tree intends to increase its resistance against invasions..."
