Chapter 60: The Dark Changes
update icon Updated at 2025/7/30 9:10:12

Inside the serene land of Shengqi, it is not as chaotic as outsiders imagine. There are no groups of high-level monsters, but rather a peaceful atmosphere. Occasionally, one can hear the chirping of insects beneath the black forest, and small monsters can be seen jumping among the trees.

This place is not much different from the jungles of the Divine Blessed Continent, except for the lack of vibrant colors. Everything else is almost the same.

However, this tranquility is suddenly shattered as large chunks of debris fall from the sky above the forest. A gigantic shadow, trailing long black smoke, bursts out and crashes heavily onto the ground, plowing a wide trench with its immense momentum. The intense flames instantly ignite the towering trees around it.

But this is just the beginning. Two sharp claws emerge from the rift in space, followed by a fearsome head and a massive body crawling out slowly. It is a colossal insect, resembling an oversized grasshopper.

However, that is not the focus here. Who has not seen a grasshopper before? But a grasshopper that exudes a pressure surpassing that of a champion? Its mere presence suffocates the surrounding area, a force far beyond what a champion possesses.

Without hesitation, the giant grasshopper walks towards the massive object that just landed. Through the black smoke, it becomes clear that it is a colossal warship, over two hundred meters in length. Its dark exterior carries a heavy metallic weight, and the damaged wings and the presence of black smoke indicate its dire condition.

Inside the warship, the alarm is blaring in the control room. Several people sitting in their seats are either unconscious with blood gushing from their heads or have lost their breath altogether, except for one man with a horn on his head who is still awake. He scans the surroundings and suddenly gasps.

"Boom!" The protective glass outside the control room is fiercely smashed as a claw stretches in, destroying a large portion of the control instruments. The man with the horn's pupils contract, and he hurriedly presses the red button beneath the control panel.

"Activate emergency defense measures!" A cold and emotionless synthesized voice sounds.

"Activate level-restricted protective barrier!"

"Close all braking doors!"

"Disable 99% of the core room functions, only preserve the minimum consumption!"

"Activate emergency defense system!"

"Hiss!" The giant grasshopper fiercely slams onto the rising protective barrier, its pair of insect eyes blazing with anger, capable of burning the man with the horn even through the barrier.

"Boom!" However, just at this moment, a massive fist suddenly appears on the grasshopper's head. A gigantic figure standing nearly a hundred meters tall emerges through the feeding window—it's a gorilla covered in black fur.

"Warning! Warning! Unknown high-energy organism detected!" The data displayed on the monitor reveals that the creature possesses a power comparable to a Monarch Level 5, only one level lower than the Yark mother insect.

"Roar!" The black gorilla excitedly thumps its chest after launching the Yark mother insect into the air. It crawls on all fours on the ground, grabbing hold of the Yark mother insect's two antennae and vigorously swinging it, like a windmill.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!" The earth continuously shatters under the Yark mother insect's strikes, causing mud and debris to fly everywhere. The man with the horn in the warship touches the cold sweat on his forehead and presses another green button on the ship.

"Activate emergency escape device!"

Crack! Snap!

The seat suddenly shrunk down into a small warship less than three meters long, and then shot out from above, accelerating with a burst of blue flames, flying swiftly into the distance.

Looking back at the two colossal beings still in battle, the unicorn man hadn't even had time to feel relieved before he saw a giant figure suddenly emerge from a volcano spewing thick black smoke. It was a large bird engulfed in fiery orange flames, flapping its wings and charging towards him, causing him to immediately accelerate...

-----Dividing Line-----

"This is the mission material. If it checks out, give me the reward." Bexia handed over a white horn over one meter long to the staff at the Adventurer's Guild. After routine inspection confirmed that the item was fine, they handed over the reward to him.

"I already have more than half the points!" Bexia looked at the adventurer's badge that had surpassed five million adventure points. He still had half the distance to his goal, and calculating it, he had about seven months left. It didn't seem too difficult to reach the Platinum level before returning to the academy.

"Master, what are you thinking about?" Christine pounced on his back from behind, wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her entire body against him.

"Nothing much, just thinking about when I can become a Platinum adventurer." Since the last incident, Christine seemed to have returned to normal. Of course, Bexia's words at the end were the key. Otherwise, it would probably have taken longer for Christine to return to normal.

"I found a new snack with a really good taste. Master, let's go! Shouldn't we celebrate a little after completing the mission?" Christine suggested.

"Alright! Whatever you say!" Bexia didn't refuse and walked towards the bustling street with an excited Christine on his back.

"Master, where are you! Over there!"

"It's this shop!" Christine pointed at a newly opened store with a novel decoration and a crimson atmosphere. What left Bexia speechless was that there was a restriction for entry into the shop, allowing only couples to enter.

"Are you doing this on purpose?" Bexia rolled his eyes at Christine, but still stepped inside. With their intimate actions, couldn't they be considered a believable couple?

"It's not intentional at all~ Isn't this a normal date?" Christine nuzzled her cheek against Bexia's face.

"Boom!" Suddenly, a rumble sounded in the sky, and everyone instinctively looked up to see a streak of blue light cutting through the sky, followed by a large cluster of flames.

"What is that? Such speed!"

"It's a huge firebird!"

"Look! It got hit and started falling!"

A group of clueless onlookers discussed the scene in the sky, until a plume of black smoke accompanied by tremors hit the ground, making many people realize the danger, considering the direction it fell. It was near Alliance City, and many people had already recognized the type of bird at least from its size—it was a champion-level monster.

"Roar!" A dragon's roar, Bexia saw a blood-colored dragon shadow soaring into the air from Ophelia Manor, not only with her alone, but also with Loya, who was stationed there.

"Wuwuwu—!"

The loudest alarm in Alliance City blared, and many confused individuals finally realized the crisis. One by one, they scattered and ran, leaving only a few figures in the bustling city.
