"Boom!" There was a powerful explosion and a bright flash in the distance, causing the earth to tremble even more violently. Bexia watched from afar as Ophelia disappeared, knowing from the sound that the counterattack had begun.
The chaos of the monster tide subsided quickly, but soon they went into a frenzy again, roaring furiously as they charged towards Alliance City.
5,000 meters...
3,000 meters...
1,000 meters...
900 meters...
As the monsters approached the defensive walls of Alliance City, the terrifying extent of the monster tide became more apparent. Everywhere Bexia looked, there were numerous monsters, their eyes bloodshot and filled with madness. They showed no fear of death, seemingly driven by some special force.
"Prepare the magic cannons!"
"Prepare the elementalists!"
"Prepare the archers!"
"Prepare the ballista operators!"
"..."
The voice of the commander spread throughout the walls via the amplifiers. When the monsters entered the most effective attack range, the signal flag was waved vigorously forward.
"Attack!"
With the command, a multitude of attacks were unleashed. The powerful explosions of the magic cannons, the colorful magic spells, the arrows raining down like a storm, and the thick bolts from the ballistas all poured forth relentlessly. The continuous thundering and screams filled the air, and even the rain couldn't wash away the heavy stench of blood.
But the thick blood only fueled the madness of these crazed monsters. It stirred their innate frenzy, and they charged towards the walls with even greater ferocity. They were met with another round of artillery fire.
How long could this defense be sustained?
Each firing of the magic cannons consumed a precious high-grade magic stone, and the continuous barrage placed immense strain on the cannons themselves. Such intense attacks were not sustainable for long. Eventually, either the magic stones that acted as projectiles would run out, or the magic cannons themselves would be damaged.
As for the other forms of attacks, it went without saying. The elementalists' magic required incantation and relied on their own magical power to be unleashed. The arrows of the archers were not renewable; every shot meant one fewer arrow. And the more powerful ballista bolts were even more limited in number and expensive in cost.
However, facing such a calamitous monster tide, it was no longer a time to consider the value of things. Every person attacked the monsters with madness. Each monster killed brought victory a little closer, but the killing of more and more monsters numbed their senses, leaving them physically and mentally exhausted.
Under the trampling of their companions, the corpses of the monsters could not be preserved. They all turned into mashed meat and, washed away by the rain, turned into a torrent of blood. It was impossible to tell how many monsters had been slain, but it was a horrifying scene.
Bexia watched the blood and flesh splattering amidst the raging storm. Even though they had long been mentally prepared, they still underestimated the nature of war. Moreover, these creatures were just monsters. If one day it were humans instead, Bexia probably wouldn't have the courage to stand here. As Bexia gazed at the terrible tide of blood, their heart was slowly being washed away.
On a separate battlefield in the distance, it was divided into ten sections where ten enormous demons were held by the ambush forces of Alliance City. Each demon champion had a massive body, and even a casual strike could crush a swarm of low-level demons, turning them into scattered pieces of meat. Over time, this place became their exclusive battlefield, and all other demons avoided it out of fear.
"Annihilation of Elements!" Bor stood in the air, facing off against a gigantic tiger-like demon. A massive magic formation condensed behind him, and various types of magic projectiles crazily bombarded the demon tiger king. However, they couldn't break through its thick magic defense. Even if some attacks landed, its fur, more robust than steel, could dissipate the impact.
"Roar!" The demon tiger king let out a tremendous roar of anger, and with the spread of sound waves, it destroyed the magic projectiles. It leaped up from the ground, crushing the earth with its gigantic body. It then lunged at Bor, opening its mouth wide, seemingly intending to swallow him whole.
"Inferno Sword!" Bor's expression remained unchanged. His figure quickly moved backwards, and at the same time, a five-meter-long flame sword condensed behind him. With a swing of his hand, it shot towards the demon tiger king's mouth.
"Crack!" The demon tiger king directly bit down on Bor's Inferno Sword, ruthlessly shattering it. Ignoring the exploding flames, it glared at Bor. Terrifying energy enveloped its body, like flowing liquid. When it emerged again, a pair of jet-black wings appeared on its back. Tremors ran through the ground beneath its feet as it soared towards Bor in mid-air...
On the other side, Benjamin, the chief elemental mage of the Royal Kingdom of Ruo Ya, was battling a twin-headed demon giant wolf. This twin-headed giant wolf was incredibly powerful, as each head could unleash different elemental powers: ice and fire. It also possessed incredible speed, keeping Benjamin, who had the mutated lightning attribute, on his toes.
Champion Luo Ya of the Anzu Kingdom was facing a humanoid tree monster. It was the largest among all the demon champions, reaching a height of seventy to eighty meters, even taller than the walls of Alliance City. If such a demon broke through into Alliance City, its defenses would be torn apart instantly.
This tree monster had a variety of attack methods. It could manipulate numerous vines and leaves for both ranged and melee assaults. It also had a strong regenerative ability, making it one of the most enduring opponents among all the demons.
However, champion Luo Ya was not to be underestimated. In one hand, she held a charm, while in the other, she wielded a special ritual artifact unique to Anzu. As she swung the charm towards her special magic formation, a completely different formation appeared behind her. A blurry, towering figure emerged from the formation and firmly caught the tree monster's attacking vines in its large hands.
"Go!" Champion Luo Ya landed on the shoulder of the massive golden-armored warrior. This was a secret technique from ancient Anzu, not a summoning spell, but a special technique called "Spiritual Communication." It could summon a corresponding familiar spirit to assist in battle.
The champion's battlefield was vast, with each of the ten demon champions being formidable opponents. Demon lizards, twin-headed giant wolves, tree monsters, rock monsters, crystal demons, and so on. Each one was capable of destroying the defense of Alliance City. The people opposing them in ambush were exerting all their strength as well. The three leaders of the First Legion were each fighting against a black demon serpent. The chief Swordmaster from the Kingdom of Yaro faced a sinister shadow demon, and a masked individual from Anzu fought against a terrifying corpse demon champion...
