Chapter 11
1
Entering the room, there was a woman who looked innocent but was actually quite experienced. She wore a flowing long skirt that easily created fantasies, but before I could even fantasize, the woman strangely disappeared into the skirt. More accurately, she suddenly shrunk into the skirt. Muna took out another looser skirt, skillfully changing it, as if she did this regularly. The woman emerged from under the long skirt and put on the new skirt, transforming from a young girl into an adult woman. It was a familiar process, incredibly familiar.
"Does this special ability run in the family?" I turned away from the balcony's sunlight, and Li Yehes looked at me with confusion in her eyes.
"I'll only know once I have children." Li Yehes bypassed the living room. Her gaze changed from the moment I asked the first question.
"Wait, you?"
"Reisgolo, that name is strange, but we can't find any information about it. Considering I worked hard to rescue you from the sea, can't you just tell me the truth?" Li Yehes went straight to the point, skipping over pleasantries.
"The truth is, Reisgolo is indeed my name."
"Why are you so insistent? Well then, how is your health? I heard the doctors recommended surgery, but it carries high risks."
"With Muna's sister taking care of me, I'll be fine. As for surgery, I don't think I'll need it."
After Li Yehes put on the looser skirt, she leaped directly from behind the couch to face me. It was a mischievous action, just like that of a young girl. She had a youthful appearance despite being a hundred years old. She didn't exude the aura of a mature woman or a queen. Was this something she was born with?
"What's wrong? Have you given up? Don't tell me you have no hope?"
"I don't remember other things, but I have a way to treat myself. However, it can't be done here. I'm willing to be disabled on this island. You don't need to pity me or sympathize with me. In my heart, I am not a useless person, and that mentality does not exist within me." The wheelchair floated at a slow speed. Li Yehes looked at my face, and I looked at hers. It seemed like we recognized each other.
"Reisgolo, are you a dangerous person? The more I look at you, the more familiar you seem."
"I... Maybe I am quite dangerous." I smiled and then stopped the wheelchair in front of Li Yehes.
"Hey... A warm smile like yours. How can you be dangerous? I didn't believe you were a bad person when I brought you back." Li Yehes cupped my cheeks with both hands and vigorously teased me. Suddenly, the atmosphere in the room changed, becoming slightly more lively.
"Why... why?" Li Yehes held my facial muscles, making it difficult for me to speak.
"Although you didn't have a complete set of clothes on at the time, you had something in your hand, and it was this."
I looked at the item she took out, feeling inexplicably in my heart.
"A hairpin?" I remembered that I got the hairpin from the golden monkey king who liked to dress up. It wasn't anything particularly magical, just an ordinary and exquisite hairpin.
"This was a gift I gave to my niece before she participated in the competition in Othrie. It was stolen by a monkey not long ago, and a young man chased after it. Later, there was chaos in the city, and she never got to see the outcome. Tearfully, she gave me this news, feeling that she couldn't exchange the hairpin."
According to her logic, since the hairpin was in my hands, I must have been the person who chased after it at the time. Later, there was trouble in the city, and I didn't return. She wasn't wrong; I indeed didn't go back because of the trouble in Joburg City.
"I can't help but feel strange that I fainted completely naked but was still holding onto it. It's quite eerie, isn't it?"
My body couldn't escape Li Yehes' hands on my face, and I could only let her continue rubbing back and forth like this.
"Don't move, even after rubbing you for so long, your skin is still so delicate. You really are a young one."
"The boss can determine someone's real age through touch." Sister Mengna picked up Li Yihe's clothes that she had taken off and explained her boss's actions.
"Seventeen, I could tell by touch." Li Yihe finally let go of my face and said my age at the same time.
"Can someone really have this ability? It feels like touching bones."
"I'm not a con artist from the Jianghu."
"Even Miss Li wouldn't deceive me without any benefit."
"Don't call me Miss. Yihe, my name shouldn't be unfamiliar to you. Even if you're not my fan, you might have grown up watching my shows." Li Yihe understood how many years she had been in this position.
"I don't remember, but I can see these days. Fifty years ago, your representative work was 'Lady Yang,' and you even won the highest popularity award back then."
The TV at home was currently playing that movie, one of Li Yihe's representative works. From that time onwards, Li Yihe's acting career reached its peak. However, there was a period of blankness over a decade ago. An artist's blank period could quickly make them disappear from the audience's eyes, but Li Yihe didn't. Her popularity started to decline, but she still remained a symbol of the industry.
"I don't want that popularity award anymore. This industry is becoming more and more boring, but if I'm not an artist, I feel empty inside."
Li Yihe sighed as she looked back at her past works. She didn't know why, but being an artist became her spiritual support. In her eyes, I saw that memories were beautiful. Humans like to reminisce about the past and then lament about the current situation.
"Yihe... Auntie."
Suddenly, the water cup in Li Yihe's hand shook, and a few drops of water spilled out.
"Why can Jiang Mengna call you sister, but I have to call you Auntie!"
"Calling me sister... doesn't feel right!"
Mengna nodded silently behind the sofa. After being glared at by the boss, she immediately switched to shaking her head.
"What feels right or not, I just want to call you sister!" Li Yihe crossed her legs, put her hands on her hips, and squeezed her facial features together, making her face look like a dumpling.
"It'll be troublesome to switch to calling me sister..."
"What are you whispering?"
"Nothing... I just said that if you don't want to be an artist, why not invest behind the scenes?"
"Kids don't understand. Has Mengna's new clothes arrived?"
Mengna nodded and went back to her room. She took out the clothes box that arrived yesterday. There were some flowing lights on the box, displaying strings of runes. It was dark yesterday, so she didn't look carefully. The seals on it weren't difficult to break, and the aura emitted from inside wasn't completely sealed off. It didn't seem like a powerful weapon.
Li Yihe traced her finger on the box, and the seals contracted to the bottom. After opening the box, it did contain a pure white long dress. I thought I would see something special like a weapon.
"A dress sealed like this, is it an expression garment?"
An expression garment was clothes that were infused with magic on the raw materials before being made. Expression garments could be divided into two types. One type released one's own advantages and magnified their aura in a 360-degree, no-dead-angle manner. The other type was despicable, deceiving others by disguising their flaws and creating an illusion. Compared to illusion techniques, this was much lower-end. Artists liked to wear the first type of clothes on the red carpet, but they were expensive, and those who considered themselves as beautiful as deities were unwilling to wear them. There weren't many people who wanted to compete with people like that, so Li Yihe shouldn't need this dress. She should be one of those who considered themselves as beautiful as deities.
"Yes, this dress is not cheap."
"Are you kidding? You're a big star."
"Did I say it was for me? This is Muna's dress."
"For... for me?"
Li Yihe smiled and took out the dress, shining it in front of Muna. Muna had no understanding of what her boss was up to. She was just an assistant or an intern, was it necessary to dress up so extravagantly?
"Try it on."
Muna's hand that held the dress gave her away, revealing her inner fear.
"Come on, go inside and change. Tomorrow you must wear this dress on stage to accept the award for our company. Then you will become an artist under my guidance."
"But... but I'm an assistant..."
"What's the use of being an assistant? Go in, change and come out... Geez, is it so difficult to find an apprentice?" After pushing Muna into the room, Li Yihe closed the door with a bang.
"Do you want Muna to replace you in front of the audience? But Muna's current state... She's been crying for the past few days, her condition is not at its best. Even with the relief garment, she may not become the center of attention."
"I can't handle her ability. Are you kidding? I'm going next door to chat with someone. Change your clothes and call me over."
Li Yihe went next door to the old man's house on our balcony. As expected, they knew each other.
2
Several minutes passed and there was no sound in the room. Can one dress be worn for so long?
"Hey, why did you come in?" Muna sister was startled, and as I expected, she was still wearing the same clothes as before. She hadn't changed at all, and the dress was laid flat on the bed.
"Muna sister, did Li Yihe decide to give you a chance? What are you still worried about?"
"Reisgolo... your name is so long, can I call you Reyes?"
"Sure, just tell me what you're worried about."
Muna sister was lost in thought at the dressing table. She wasn't beautiful in front of the mirror, but she wasn't ugly either.
"My parents were artist assistants, and even my grandfather's generation was. How can I escape this fate? I can't do it..." Muna clenched her fist. She felt oppressed by a tremendous pressure, causing her adrenaline to surge, her breathing to become rapid as if she were suffocating. Her entire body was tense. She must be too nervous. She needed to relax.
"Hey, I see that the man next door and your boss seem to have some sort of story. Do you know?"
"That's the boss's childhood friend. He's a typical playboy who has had many women over the years."
"A man who constantly changes women indicates that he's wounded."
"Wounded? Are you saying he's a wounded man?"
After discussing for a while, Muna's symptoms of excessive tension began to ease.
"We are just speculating about other people's affairs, but it seems like you don't need to be too nervous."
Muna realized her problem and understood why I mentioned the man next door.
"Thank you." Muna lowered her head and said thank you in a dull tone. She still had no confidence.
"Muna sister, look at the other side of the mirror. It's okay if you're not beautiful now, but with enough confidence and the right clothes, I believe you have a chance. And your makeup skills are so outstanding, I think anyone can be a beauty with that."
"Is that so? But..."
"Your parents and ancestors being assistants, what can you do about it? Ordinary people had nothing from the beginning. What are you afraid of? Even if you fail, so what? Just try your best. It's better than now, right? Will Choi Dong and his group still be like this? They won't. The transformation between the boss's apprentice and assistant is tomorrow night. Who was born a star?"
I put my forehead against Muna's forehead, using this method to make her feel supported, even if it's just me, it's fine. What she needs is confidence.
"You're talking, and you're old again." Mona stared at me up close, in her eyes I was no longer a child, but a man supporting her.
