Chapter 13
1
Inside the body, the black and white souls faced each other, doing nothing, just staring at each other.
"White! Can you wake up?"
"It's impossible, the bullet in the body is not a solution."
"Neither of our souls can control the body, it's a troublesome bullet, probably left by the sniper as a means to silence those two comrades."
"Facing death fearlessly, everyone gives their comrades a knife that can kill them or seal their mouths."
"I still remember during the war between the Gods and Demons, The Demon Realm used this method to forcefully push back the Gods who had already invaded The Demon Realm. But that was a critical moment in the war. However, the Empire shouldn't have any conflicts with those five island countries."
"White, you shouldn't worry about those national affairs. The key is how we can wake up. There are too many troubles. If it were my body, there wouldn't be such problems."
"Would you have let Nofice appear from the beginning and just watched?"
"Clearly, that was my plan. But what I didn't expect was the man in the blue clothes up there. I have a feeling that he doesn't intend to leave."
"Isn't the reason he doesn't intend to leave because of the two people lying down?"
"Who knows~~ White, do you hear someone calling?"
"It seems like we're being moved. I can only hear the sounds of wolves and a girl panting. Everything else is unclear."
"Telepathy. Our bodies can't speak or move; we're like wooden dolls."
"Haha, when we were kids, Qiong, Ya, and Wenxin loved playing this in the snowy field during winter."
"White, when you jumped down, did you bring Shi Xueqi with you?"
"Yes, I was carrying her, that's what I remember before losing consciousness."
"I hope she realizes that I can wake up as long as the bullet is pulled out."
"She's not a student from the Medical Department; the chances are slim."

After... I don't know how long, I'm Bai Qin Yang. I just had a long discussion with the other me in my body about the IQ of our teammates, but I've had a conclusion since the beginning based on my bodily sensations.
I squint my eyes. The dazzling white light is coming from a lamp, and the light is swaying. The dazzling feeling in front of me gradually fades, and I can see a light yellow canvas tent.
"Good morning, little child."
"Morning?"
"Yes, it's morning."
An old man with a face full of stubble stands in front of me, wearing a white coat. Is he a doctor?
"Are you a doctor?"
"Yes, a retired veteran doctor. I have a question for you, little child. Is the fire on your body divine fire? When I removed the bullet from your body, those golden flames permeated your wound and healed it seamlessly."
I still feel numb all over, but there's nothing wrong with my mind.
"You can call it divine fire. It has simple consciousness. It appears on its own after the bullet is removed to heal my wounds."
The retired veteran doctor sighed and seemed a little shocked. He said, "If it weren't for these flames, I'm afraid your wounds wouldn't have healed so well!"
"Why? Don't doctors like you have Magic to heal wounds?"
"My magical ability is weak, but I'm good at internal medicine and quick surgery. In the army, I performed surgeries for two consecutive days, on hundreds of people. The suturing work was done by the nurses. Haha, I never did these surgical things."
"Isn't using magic faster?"
"I know that magic healing is indeed faster, but it's not readily available. There aren't many magic healers, and even a small team may not have one. Besides, they should reserve their magic for more urgent situations. That's where doctors like us, who rely on skill, come in handy." The old military doctor had a small wooden box in front of him containing his surgical knife. He cherished this box, as it had many scars from years of use, proving its age.
"I have seen the military before, but I didn't realize that healing magic was so scarce."
"There are plenty of water and light magic users, but how many of them can actually cure illness and save lives? How many of them have the ability to save a critically wounded soldier? It's the same in the military and among civilians. The pockets of those who seek magic healing must be deeper than others', otherwise they can only turn to doctors like us who rely on skill. The injuries on this child may not be much to those magic users, but for a doctor like me at my age, the risk is high. Plus, look at this tent. It may be large, but the equipment is rudimentary and incomplete. From the beginning, I wasn't planning on saving you, not because I didn't want to, but because I didn't have the certainty. But your friend was sincere, crying and pleading, and I couldn't refuse."
The old military doctor took a thin felt blanket and covered Shi Xueqi's shoulder. She had been by my bedside the whole time, and she still hadn't woken up despite my lengthy conversation with the doctor.
I felt a slight return of sensation in my body and attempted to sit up.
"Don't move. If you move, this little one will wake up. Let her rest." The military doctor spoke with a tender tone when it came to Shi Xueqi, as if she were his own granddaughter.
"How did she come all the way here? Our school uniforms are in such a mess."
Shi Xueqi's school uniform was tattered, with only half of her top remaining, the rest wrapped in bandages. There was a strong smell of herbs coming from it.
"I'm not entirely sure either. As I said, I am a retired military doctor. Older folks like to travel. Half a month ago, a few of my comrades and I came to this primitive forest, set up camp, and wanted to relive memories from years ago when we used to travel through forests. My comrades enjoyed hunting at night, and accidentally brought the two of you 'back.' They said this little one was chased by a pack of wild wolves all night, and you were behind her. The blood on her body was from you."
"Wolves? The kind that leads in primitive forests are usually magical wolves!"
Recalling the scene of Shi Xueqi being surrounded by wolves last night, the military doctor's gaze became even more benevolent. He was amazed that a young girl could accomplish such a feat.
"Yes, that magical wolf also injured one of my comrades, but luckily, we used to be soldiers, so dealing with it was still easy." The military doctor spoke proudly of his comrades.
"It was my mistake that caused her harm. If her father finds out, what can we do?"
"Old man, you two look like you're eloping. It's not some golden-class drama, is it?"
I couldn't help but laugh. "Don't say such things. She's my classmate. If she hears that, she'll explode in anger."
"Alright, you two rest well. Call me if you need anything." The military doctor picked up a large water jug and some dry rations before leaving the tent.
I lay in bed, looking at the sleeping Shi Xueqi. So, it was her last night who was driving away the wolves, allowing a girl to carry her on her back all night. What kind of feeling was that? Was it a sense of duty or something deep within her heart? She had only become a maid for not even two days, so she probably hadn't learned these noble professional ethics yet.
Not long after, I held my pillow and realized that it was not me but the pillow that Shixueqi was sleeping on. I could accurately use Spatial Magic to indicate that the side effects of the Silent Elixir had passed.
"Last night, did you really cry and make a fuss?" I bent over and Shixueqi, who was sound asleep, was only a foot away. Her face was dirty, and it was hard to tell if there were any tears.
Suddenly, Shixueqi's eyelids twitched, as if she had a good dream. The little bit of flesh on her cheeks rubbed back and forth on the pillow a few times, but she didn't wake up. The dirt from her face was all wiped onto the pillow. I couldn't bear to see it, so I picked up a towel and wiped it for her.
"Mmm...don't touch me with a caterpillar..."
Caterpillar? I looked at the towel in my hand. How could this be a caterpillar? What kind of dream was she having?
"Why are you holding a towel?" Shixueqi widened her eyes, her gaze fixing on my towel.
"To wipe your face." I handed her the towel, but she looked puzzled.
"The towel is so dirty. Give me a clean one." Shixueqi rubbed her eyes, suddenly seeming to realize something. She stood up abruptly and said, "You're okay now? What about your wounds?"
I patted my body and smiled at her, indicating that I was perfectly fine.
"Why did you get hit by the enemy's bullet?" Shixueqi took a clean towel and vigorously wiped away the traces from last night.
"The issue of magic has always been a problem because Nofice summoned something incredible, which consumed almost all of my magic power."
"Then why did you protect us so fiercely?"
"Because I thought it was the right thing to do, so I did it. It reminded me of a long time ago, when there were more than just two people behind me that needed protection."
"Is your answer implying that you used to be a hero?"
"I suppose so. On the other hand, let me ask you, did you really cry and make a fuss over that old army doctor? He doesn't seem to remember anything, but it seems like some crazy things happened here last night."
The corner of my eye caught Shixueqi secretly hiding her wrist, blushing and saying, "No, the old man has bad memory. He got it wrong."
"Hmm...the strange expression on your face says that you're lying! Maid Shixueqi, tell the master the truth!"
"What...what truth? You're already fine, so think of a way to leave as soon as possible. The easier things are for you, the better. Who can get here the fastest now?"
"Fastest? Of course, it's Nofice."
Before I could finish my sentence, a cheerful voice appeared beside me.
"Master, Nofice is here at your service! Prompt and reliable."
"Why do we need her?"
Shixueqi looked bewildered. Nofice's ability to appear and disappear mysteriously made her feel amazed. Perhaps she had forgotten that I mentioned Nofice's identity.
"Nofice is my familiar. I can appear wherever the master is. A familiar would never abandon their master." Nofice held my hand and said.
"Familiar? But she's a student, right? She chats about irrelevant things with gossiping girls in class every day."
"Nofice became a student because I couldn't make her disappear and reappear at will like a normal familiar. Besides, she's not my familiar. How could my magic power be depleted when she uses summoning?"
"Kid woke up...why is there one more person?" The old army doctor heard the commotion from outside the tent and came in with a concerned attitude, only to find that the tent, which originally had only two people, now had three.
"This..."
"No need to say more, I understand the rules. I'll go out first!" The old military doctor raised his hand to interrupt me and said as he turned and left the tent, "Nowadays, kids can establish a geometric theorem on love triangles with just a few words."
