Chapter 4 (II)

1

Zili's broom gently tapped the bookshelf twice and said, "Search for the upper connection: Pyramid."

All the bookshelves retreated at the same time, withdrawing one book after another.

"What's the difference between this and searching online?"

"Let me tell you, Qin Yang, you are insulting my work!"

"What? Is this considered an insult?"

"Can you guarantee that what you find online is always correct? But I can here." Zili's broom drew two circles above my head and four books surrounded me from all sides.

"I know you must be wondering how I ensure the accuracy of the books." Zili preemptively said what I wanted to ask.

"You must have been asked this question many times before! Explain it to me, librarian."

"I am certain, no need for explanations. It's annoying to be asked so many questions. If you don't believe me, then just don't come." Zili gave me the impression of being impulsive, not liking to hesitate in her actions, and not caring about what others think.

"So, you mean as long as I believe in you, you will let me go?" The four bookshelves surrounded me, not allowing me to see the books that were retrieved.

"Hehe, then you better speak up!"

"Didn't you just say that if I don't believe, you won't show me? Whether you say it or not doesn't make a difference."

"There is. If you are not genuinely eager to see, I won't show you!" I felt like I made a mistake. I shouldn't have asked that question. She's impulsive, but also too honest!

"What do you want to do? The results are all out. What's the point of not showing me your work?"

"My job is to manage books. It's quite interesting."

"Don't talk!" Zili turned around and ignored me.

"Such attitude! I'm a guest, you know! The librarian should prioritize service."

"Are you going to speak or not?"

I looked at the back of her head and suddenly had an urge to pinch her.

"If you won't show me, I'll see it myself."

"I told you that magic cannot be used in the library!" Zili immediately turned around, looking very angry, and tightly grasped the handle of the broom.

"It seems like your broom is the controller. If you use such force, it will break!"

"The second rule of the library regulations states that one must not disobey the warnings of book management. The third rule..."

"Fine! I don't have to know so many library regulations. Since you won't show me, I'll use magic. You can't beat me anyway."

"I helped you sincerely at the banquet!" Zili patted my ankle with the broom.

"Well, yesterday both you and your sister didn't get angry. One is your younger sister, and the other is your cousin. Don't you want to see them?"

Zili forcefully poked my foot with the broom, and I could feel the pain in her emotional fluctuations.

"So, do you believe it or not? Anyway, our books must be the most accurate!"

I was well aware that the book auditing here is very strict, and although truth may not be entirely present, history is the most genuine because you can see multiple countries' accounts of the same period of history, making it easy to tell what is real and what is not.

"Fine, I believe that the books here are correct. Show them to me now!" What a hassle. Why did I have to encounter her?

Zili pushed aside the bookshelves, revealing a pile of thousands of books in front of me.

"Ask, can I use the 'high-speed scanning' magic to read?" This type of magic allows me to read ten books in one second, making things much more convenient.

"No, you can't!"

"What? How long do you expect me to read them?"

"Either borrow the books and read them, or read them quietly here. It's up to you to decide! But I have only one rule, no magic allowed."

It's such a hassle to have so many books.

"You can choose to continue keyword filtering."

"You should have said so earlier! One name: Maru Tian."

Zili kicked the bookshelf and said, "Search again: Maru Tian."

The books in front of us quickly fell down, and suddenly there was only one left.

"The Adventurer's Biography? Can we find information on the lower hundredth floor...?"

"Ah! I forgot."

Just a moment ago, I was so serious about how important my position was, and now I've forgotten the steps!

"Wait, search the external network together."

"Hey, the external network requires payment, do you have any money?"

"Why is there a fee?"

"It's the rule, library regu..."

"Alright, how much should I ask the steward of the Duke's mansion for."

"Why don't you pay for it yourself?" Zili looked at me with disdain.

"Seeing how expensive the fee must be, I don't have any money on me." I searched my pockets, but didn't find much money on my person.

Zili was also helpless, after all, she didn't charge the fee, it was the libraries of other countries that did.

Suddenly, another book appeared in front of us. A dwarf took out a silver pen and respectfully handed it to Zili. Zili picked up the pen and wrote something in the book.

Curiously, I leaned forward to take a look, but Zili covered it up mysteriously.

"Trade secret."

"My trade secrets have been given to your father, and you can't give me a little bit to see?" The Demon Clan gave the Imperial Empire the Golden Bell Defense System, which could also be considered a trade secret.

"The affairs of the Emperor belong to the Emperor, and my responsibilities belong to me, stop being so troublesome!" Zili pushed my face away forcefully, her hand felt a bit cold, probably due to the cool environment here.

"Move aside, don't look, otherwise I can't continue." She hugged her book and refused to let me see.

Since it would hinder her if I did that, I would definitely find out.

After Zili wrote another paragraph on the book, the bookshelves folded up layer by layer, all empty bookshelves.

"What's going on?" I asked, looking at the empty bookshelves.

"You say the keywords, and the searched books will appear."

"Pyramid, Maru Tian, Dragon Clan."

"Why is there another 'Dragon Clan'?"

"Mind your own business, you charge me."

"But it's not you who pays."

"Snap!" A sound appeared, and another book appeared on the bookshelf.

"Just one book?"

Zili swept her hand and slapped my foot, saying, "It's not bad that you found one book when you searched for 'Dragon Clan.' You had two other words before."

I thought about it and realized that the Dragon Clan is rarely mentioned in The Human Realm. If I just search for 'Dragon Clan,' there might be around ten books, but those are all rigorous works. The miscellaneous books should be excluded.

"I'll borrow the two books."

"Register downstairs, make sure your steward pays." Zili pointed downstairs with a broom.

"Go ask for it yourself. You didn't write an IOU just now."

"You... you're really trying to get away with not paying your debts!"

"Let me tell you something about repaying a debt. Actually, I've been using Magic this whole time, you didn't know, right?" I walked up to her, slightly lowered my eyes, and glanced at the book in her hand with my two-colored pupils.

"Your eyes..."

"Oh~~ So this is what's written inside, boring."

Zili immediately threw the book away, and the book and bookshelves returned to their original positions in an instant. She sternly shouted at me, who had long since run away, "I will report this to the principal of your high school department, you must receive education."

I waved my hand, facing away from her. What education could Guffy provide me? I'm Qin Yang after all!
