Chapter 8: Passing Figures
update icon Updated at 2023/7/24 10:10:12

In the cargo hold of the Explorer, a warrior dressed in black armor walked out of the formation and knelt in front of Qin Feng. He wore a menacing demonic mask and carried a magic shotgun on his back. Four arms held different weapons, and mechanical structures could be vaguely seen beneath the heavy armor. Qin Feng placed the black crystal core containing a portion of his soul into the chest of the mechanical warrior, and its eyes lit up red. The standing warrior underwent a new transformation, with dense incantations crawling over its dark armor and dyeing it blood-red.

This is the mechanical servant Demon of the Royal Yujing Secret Collection, named Kyōsha.

In terms of strength, there is no mechanical servant in Yujing that can rival it. However, manipulating this servant requires a tremendous consumption of magic power, and ordinary sorcerers would quickly be drained by it.

"How is the situation?" Uther walked into the cargo hold, followed by two Kunlun slaves with dark skin.

"My Lord," Qin Feng bowed respectfully, "The Kyōsha is now completely under my control. It is a very powerful mechanical servant, and no curses or other spells have been detected."

"Well done, and thank you for your hard work," Uther nodded and turned to look at the four-meter tall mechanical warrior. It was almost as large as the Night Owl Command Model parked in a corner of the cargo hold. However, the Night Owl Command Model, being a Magic Armor, appeared somewhat bulky in certain parts due to the need to accommodate a pilot, like a fat person. On the other hand, this mechanical servant belonged to the sleek type. Despite its heavy armor, its body was perfectly proportioned, a true golden ratio.

"It's indeed a different kind of thing..." Uther sighed. Although she was a Magic Armor pilot herself, it was an undeniable fact that her own Magic Armor couldn't match the coolness of Kyōsha.

"My Lord," Qin Feng cautiously asked, "When do we begin the extermination of Yujing's sorcerers?"

"Extermination? Are you kidding me?" Uther crossed her arms and gave a somewhat defiant smile. "That young Emperor fancies himself a great strategist. Although I am grateful for the Magic Staff he gave me, that alone is not enough for me to serve him. Besides, exterminating sorcerers like this would involve bloodshed and death. This task is better left to General Yang Jiye. With thousands of troops at his disposal, even immortals would be hacked into pieces. I just want to be safe. But this matter is too much trouble. I'm not in the mood to play along with him."

"But, Your Majesty made a promise," Qin Feng said, "He promised to open the path to Penglai for you."

"That kid is lying to me," Uther coldly smiled. "They say the ruler must keep his word, and that kid did manage to deceive me at first. However, he foolishly thinks he can deceive my eyes by pretending everything is normal. After all, I am an adult. How could I fall for a child's trick? Let's say, even if that kid does know the way to Penglai, does he really need to eradicate the sorcerers and seize their magical technologies?"

Qin Feng was speechless.

"Communications Officer," Uther turned to the Kunlun slave behind her, "Inform everyone to prepare for departure. Let's flee before that Emperor boy realizes it."

"My Lord," Qin Feng cautiously reminded her, "I believe it is highly inappropriate to refer to the current ruler as a 'boy.' At the very least, we should address him as 'Your Majesty' or 'His Highness.' Calling him a 'boy' is a derogatory term, and you may be accused of great disrespect."

"Fine," Uther nodded. "Then let's call him 'His Royal Highness the Little Boy'."

Qin Feng was speechless. Her Lord was truly fearless. Not only did she acquire a Magic Staff and the highest-level mechanical servant from the Emperor of Yujing, she even gave him a disrespectful nickname. But perhaps, this was the privilege of the strong? In the current world, there was likely no one who could defeat her Lord. Uther Nornheim's power had long surpassed human limits. She alone controlled the ancestral magic satellite weapon, and no one dared to oppose her in this world. Qin Feng placed her delicate fingers on her chest and let out a quiet sigh. Deep disappointment lingered in her heart. When she lifted her gaze again, she saw her young Lord looking at her.

"My Lord," she bowed slightly, "What are your orders?"

"Qin Feng," Uther furrowed her eyebrows, "It seems like you are somewhat disappointed?"

Upon hearing this, Qin Feng shifted her gaze slightly.

"Ah, as expected," Uther slapped her forehead. This gesture, seen on a beautiful young girl, felt oddly out of place. It was something only rude men would do. "I have to say, you have a habit. When someone hits a sore spot, you instinctively avoid their gaze. Does this mean that to this day, you still haven't given up on destroying the Qin family?""Yes," Qin Feng nodded candidly, "only that family, I can't forgive them."

Uther pondered for a few minutes, then made up her mind.

"Then let's do this," she said, "Let's cooperate with Yang Jiye to seize the Qin residence. After all, as one of the four major sorcerer families, the Qin family holds control over the entire Cangying, posing the biggest threat to the central government. It wouldn't be appropriate for us to just take what we want and leave, considering I still want to do business in Yujing in the future. I don't want to offend His Majesty the Emperor. Well, that's the happy decision. Officer, please change my orders. The preparations for departure remain the same, but I will be the one giving the command to set sail, and the navigation coordinates will be set to Cangying."

The crew began to busy themselves, conducting the final checks before departure. Uther walked into the bridge and saw a small fleet consisting of a cruiser and two escort ships passing by the right side of the Explorer. Behind this small fleet were two transport ships. All five Hovercraft were docked next to the Explorer, sandwiching the poor merchant ship in between. Uther focused her attention and conducted a wide-ranging scan. The transport ships carried three thousand fully armed soldiers. These Hovercrafts were all flying the banners of the Forbidden Army, and their intentions were clear.

"They're afraid we'll escape," Uther sneered, "That little emperor is indeed anxious."

"Hahaha," a grating laughter rang out. Alberd, with only his head remaining, burst into laughter from the captain's seat, "Hey girl, who did you piss off this time? Could it be His Majesty the Emperor of Yujing? That could be troublesome. The navy of Yujing has fast ships, much faster than the Federation and Empire's. Your ship was made in Yujing, so although it's fast, it can never outrun the cruisers of the Yujing regular army. Do you want this captain to give you advice? I can give you a discount."

Uther picked it up disdainfully, "Alright, the acting captain's job is done."

"Wait a minute, don't put me in the box! I protest! Even the undead have rights... wuwuwu..."

Uther stuffed Alberd into the box, finally enjoying some peace and quiet. She sat down in the captain's seat and looked out at the blue sky through the exhaust vent window in the ceiling. It was a rare good weather in the cold winter, with the warm sun shining on the wooden deck, making the bridge warm. However, being squeezed between the gray warships, Uther's mood immediately turned gloomy, and she couldn't help but sigh.

"It's a rare good weather, but my mood has been ruined."

"Captain!" accompanied by the sound of squeaking metal rubbing against each other, the large armor opened the cabin door, "An officer named Yang Jiye wants to see you. If you're not in a good mood, I'd be happy to drive him away for you."

"He's an important guest, so behave." Uther stood up and knocked on Tristan's armor, "You go hide in the cabin and take the rest of the afternoon off."

"Alright." Tristan glanced at the box containing Alberd's head, "As you command."

"Just so you know, don't even think about touching that box," Uther poked her head back in after leaving, "You'll face the consequences if you do, and don't tell me I didn't warn you."

With that, she lifted her long hair and walked out of the bridge.

"Who would listen to you, idiot!" Tristan grabbed the box, but it activated a spell on the box, and a sacred light pierced through his body. It was the divine power that had a special effect against the undead, and Tristan fell to the ground, white smoke emanating from his armor.

Having witnessed this scene countless times, the navigator and helmsman shook their heads constantly. They then called for someone to carry the undead, along with the full-body armor, into the cabin.

In the guest room next to the captain's cabin, Uther saw Yang Jiye in military uniform. He came alone, without any guards, to this merchant ship that could be considered a haven of monsters. Qin Feng, dressed as a maid, respectfully served tea. Red tea was hardly available in Yujing, but green tea was abundant. Uther even considered bringing a shipment of tea when leaving Yujing to sell in the Empire or Federation. After all, tea was a lightweight cargo, and the profit was immense, just like spices.

"Please enjoy," Qin Feng bowed gently and exited the captain's room.

The cabin door closed, and the sound of metal rubbing against each other could be heard.Uther and Yang Jiye looked at each other at the same time, and their gazes met in the air, colliding fiercely. The tense atmosphere filled the air, even the tea tasted a bit bitter.

"General Yang, you are now the Emperor's favorite, the hero of the Qingyang Battle. Why have you come to me?" Uther sipped her tea calmly. Although she looked like a twelve-year-old girl, she already had the mindset of an adult. Facing an unfriendly opening remark, Yang Jiye simply smiled.

"What favorite? I am currently more like a frog on a knife's edge," he made a gesture of being pierced by a knife, "even a slight mistake can lead to me ending up like this."

"It seems that it's difficult to deal with these sorcerers."

"More than just difficult," Yang Jiye sighed, "the sorcerers have been entrenched in Yujing for so many years, monopolizing the entire city's magic technology. Even today, their power remains strong. Take the four major families, the Qin Family, Lin Family, Nangong Family, and Bai Li Family, for example. These four families form the core of the Yujing sorcerer organization, and the so-called 'branch families' that have separated from them also possess formidable strength, infiltrating every corner of Yujing society. I personally don't mind shedding blood and sacrificing myself, but I have never thought that I could challenge even a single sorcerer family, let alone all of them. Moreover, His Majesty's intention is to... eradicate all the families, including the branch families. I think this is incredibly reckless."

"That's true," Uther nodded, "but that young emperor is quite cunning. Such actions seem too hasty; he must have a reason for his impatience."

"Unfortunately, I am not aware of the details," Yang Jiye said, "only... legend has it that the four major sorcerer families hold the key to Penglai, and this key is divided into four parts, with each family possessing one piece. For a thousand years, the four major families have stood unyielding with their key fragments, yet no one has been able to piece them together. Thus, for a thousand years, no one has been able to reach Penglai, where it is said that the power of our ancestors lies dormant."

"It seems that what His Majesty desires is the key?"

"That's a possibility, but I believe it's more than that," Yang Jiye said, "His Majesty wants the true imperial power."

"But isn't he already the Emperor?"

"Unfortunately, His Majesty only holds the title of emperor. The politics of the court are completely controlled by the four major sorcerer families," Yang Jiye said, "the four major families have infiltrated every corner of Yujing society, including the political arena. Now, almost all of the Chief Secretaries of the six departments of Yujing have some connection to the four major families. Even if they are not members of the families, they have deep ties. Although there is a Prime Minister above the six departments, it happens to be the current head of the Qin Family, Qin Yongsheng. He sighed, "By now, you should understand without me continuing, Captain Neinheim. The emperor's power is merely an illusion."

Uther sighed and revealed a sarcastic smile. The young emperor indeed gave her an empty promise. Yang Jiye must have come today to tell her about this. Without obtaining the key fragments, there would be no way to reach Penglai. And by obtaining the key fragments, it would also help him regain his power. This deal was advantageous for both parties, and the Emperor would not lose out. Uther couldn't help but admire the young emperor's clever calculation.

"So, General Yang," Uther lifted her tea cup and casually asked, "which side are you on?"

"Me?" Yang Jiye smiled, "I'm on Yujing's side."

"Then let me ask you," Uther raised an eyebrow, "which side, the Emperor or the sorcerer families, can represent Yujing?"

Faced with this question, Yang Jiye fell silent.

"This matter is not trivial, it concerns the future of Yujing as a whole," Uther put down her tea cup and said solemnly, "If things don't go well, many people will lose their lives. The Qingyang Battle was a war, and it was the soldiers who died. But in the upcoming cleansing of the sorcerers, it won't only be soldiers dying, many innocent people will be affected, including the elderly, women, and children. Some people must die, while others have no choice but to die. The so-called cutting off the roots and completely eliminating future troubles. And you, as the one who will soon start this bloody curtain, are you truly prepared? Who is the enemy? Do you really understand? My General."

Finally, Uther imitated the young emperor's way of addressing Yang Jiye, and it did indeed make him hesitate.

"Well then," she sighed, "since you, General, are in such a dilemma, um... how about this, let's first go and kill the current Prime Minister, Lord Qin, and destroy the Qin Family."Uther suddenly casually said something astounding, for a few seconds Yang Jiye couldn't help but suspect that he had misheard.

"Kill the biggest one first to see the reaction," Uther said, "And you don't need to lift a finger for this, I just need to borrow someone from you, Qin Huaiyu, the eldest young master of the Qin family who has been kicked out of the house, also known as Captain Ding Yi under your command. And I also need the Magic Armor he drives, pretending that he took the Magic Armor away without authorization and fled the army. In this way, what happens next will have nothing to do with you and the emperor, after all, it is the Qin family's own matter. Who made the prime minister not teach his son well?" She turned to the door, "Right, Qin Feng?"

The door opened, and Qin Feng, dressed in black robes, walked in. She was fully armed, wearing the amulets of a sorcerer around her neck, and her sleeves were filled with talismans. The deep red eyeshadow covering her beautiful face gave off a layer of charming murderous intent.

"As you wish, Lord," she smiled charmingly, covering her mouth with an iron fan, "I am eager to chop off my father's head."

"General," Uther continued, "I want Ding Yi to report to me with the complete set of equipment within four days. After that, you can continue to train the Forbidden Army as if you don't know anything. I will take full responsibility for what happens next. I am a foreign merchant and can afford the charge of assassinating the prime minister. From a worst-case scenario perspective, if things really go bad, I can simply never come to Yujing to do business for the rest of my life, which has nothing to do with you. Let me take some personal revenge, shall we?"

"You have been a great help, Captain Noyinheim," Yang Jiye said, bowing deeply.

Little did they know, the next afternoon, Yang Jiye hastily sent a deputy to bring an unexpected news: three days ago, Ding Yi left the army without authorization and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

After sending away Yang Jiye's subordinates, Uther rushed into the bridge, taking out Albedo's skull from a box. Seeing her worried expression, Albedo's eyes flickered with excitement.

"Captain Albedo," Uther said seriously, "Let's make a deal."

"Hahaha," Albedo's jaw cracked as he laughed, "It seems that Captain Noyinheim needs my ghost ship? If the conditions are right, I am willing to do business with you, after all, I still owe you a favor."

"Very well," Uther nodded, "Use the Barbarossa to bring me, my subordinates, and equipment to Cangyin, then we can return to the ghost ship."

"Deal," Albedo sneered.

Less than twenty meters away from the dock, the calm Sea of Emptiness suddenly boiled, an old and worn-out armored cruiser emerged from the boundless clouds. On its tattered deck, hundreds of skeleton pirates stood with swords. After a few seconds of silence, Yujing Harbor exploded, as sailors and soldiers scrambled to escape from the ship. The Barbarossa carefully approached the Explorer, which was in a parked state. Uther stood on the bridge, wielding her staff, her pure white battle suit exuding an air of authority. She raised her hand and threw Albedo's skull over the side of the ship, the headless skeleton on the opposite bridge immediately caught it and installed it back on its neck.

"Very good, excellent! I'm resurrected again!" Albedo loudly announced to his skeleton pirate subordinates. "Today is a cloudless day, a great day for plundering. Brothers, turn the cannons! Load high-explosive shells, get ready to reap souls... oh well, let's pretend I didn't say anything."

Because in the sky behind Uther, countless holy light long spears had already appeared, their holy gleaming tips all aimed at Albedo and his subordinates. Due to the calculation capabilities shared by the magic staff's core, these long spears were not only several times more numerous than when Uther stormed the Barbarossa, but also more powerful. On the deck of the Explorer, Xiongsha, with a fierce look in her eyes, took off the large magic shotgun from her back, eight barrels bound together shimmering with cold light, and black magical energy surging out from around Qin Feng. Faced with this situation, all the undead made a swallow and spit motion, and the Barbarossa, which had already turned its turret around, turned back obediently. Captain Albedo couldn't help but laugh while rubbing his skeletal hands together.

"Your Captain is so handsome, I can't make an attractive entrance?" He placed his hand on his chest and bowed deeply, "My esteemed customer, please come on board.""That's about it," Uther replied with a smile that hid his true thoughts.

The principle of dimensional transfer is quite simple. It involves creating a hole in the space of different dimensions. In the normal dimension, you may need to travel a long distance, but in other dimensions, that distance may shrink to just a single point. In an instant, the scenery before your eyes undergoes a tremendous change. The magnificent jade-green city of Yujing turns into a quiet mountain range covered in cedar trees. Snowflakes gently fall from the gloomy sky, covering the mountains with a layer of white.

The Qin family mansion was located at the mountain top. The ancient buildings were covered in snow, but upon closer inspection, one would notice the shattered and broken red gate, the protective barrier of the mansion in ruins, and the raging fire devouring the interior.

"What's going on?" Qin Feng looked at the burning mansion in astonishment. "The barrier should be impenetrable. It's impossible for it to be broken. This shouldn't be happening!"

"Let's go, Qin Feng," Uther closed the cockpit and infused magic power into the Spirit Seed Furnace. "Get on board, we're going on the offensive!"

Qin Feng clenched his teeth and jumped onto Uther's Magic Armor. The Night Owl Command-Type soared into the air, heading towards the smoke-filled Qin mansion. The Barbarossa, on the other hand, shut off its thrusters as if watching a show. The pirate leader, Albed, stroked his chin as he watched Uther and Qin Feng intruding into the mansion.

"Let's just watch and see what happens," a cold laugh escaped from his skeletal jaw, floating amidst the falling snow in the mountains.

The main gate was completely destroyed, and the demon guardians who were responsible for guarding the courtyard lay scattered and broken on the ground. The corridor, made of lanterns, was now merely an illusion. Even the young girl dolls dressed in light palace clothing lay scattered on the ground, devoid of vitality. The Night Owl Command-Type rushed into the courtyard, and Qin Feng jumped off its shoulder. In the midst of the chaotic courtyard, he summoned a ferocious demon, which served as a magical mechanical construct with hundreds of years of battle experience. As soon as it was summoned, the demon pulled out the sword that was impaled in its back, preparing for combat. Uther expanded her broad senses, detecting the closest survivor in the side chamber.

"Come with me," she said, "I've found a survivor."

The Spirit Seed Furnace behind the Night Owl Command-Type emitted flickering particles of light, lowering its body and rushing forward. Its 12mm heavy machine gun was aimed at the possible direction where enemies might appear. Everywhere along the way, there were motionless dolls and broken demon guardians strewn about. The entire corridor was set ablaze, and the burning wood crackled. With its heavy armor, the Night Owl Command-Type knocked aside the burning debris and rushed into the side chamber. It was a wooden building with red walls and green tiles. Its front gate was destroyed, and the remains of a gigantic array were scattered in the hall. Right in the hall, a person covered in blood lay there, wearing the robe of a sorcerer, but bearing numerous wounds all over his body.

"Does this person look familiar?" Uther manipulated the control stick, and the Night Owl Command-Type reached out with a mechanical hand, tapping the person's cheek. He let out a groan, the corners of his mouth bloodied.

With a swift motion, the demon's longsword pierced through the young man's shoulder. The pain instantly awakened him from his semi-conscious state, and he let out a scream.

"Qin Jiang," Qin Feng asked icily, "where is our father?"

With one arm disabled, Qin Jiang's expression contorted with pain. The demon slowly raised the sword in its hand, and the young man was lifted up by the tip of the sword, his legs thrashing in the air.

"Speak up," Qin Feng approached, as if the one impaled on the sword tip was not her brother, but an enemy. "I'll ask you once, where is our father?"

"Sister..." Qin Jiang's face twisted in agony, "please save me..."

"Useless," Qin Feng sighed, and with a swing of the demon's longsword, she threw Qin Jiang into a corner.

Uther watched this unfold but had no intention of intervening. On one hand, this twenty-five-year-old had successfully provoked her with his arrogant attitude, and on the other hand, she neither supported nor opposed Qin Feng's revenge. Most importantly, she always saw a hint of sadness in Qin Feng's eyes after the flames of revenge burned out. So, she wouldn't stop Qin Feng in this matter, but she wouldn't help her either.

"Our target should be in the center of the backyard's array," Uther said. "If nothing unexpected happens, we might encounter the mastermind behind the destruction of the Qin mansion. I'm curious why they only sent one person to fight, considering they have three, including a master-level figure like the current Prime Minister. Is it confidence or foolishness?""I hope Lord Qin can hold on for a while." Qin Feng showed a cruel smile. "Father, I will come and kill you now."

In a frenzy of laughter, she jumped onto the nearby Murderous Fiend, a cutting-edge mechanical servant, and with her master, crossed the burning rear hall and disappeared into the fireworks. Uther sighed, unfolded his wings, and piloted the Night Owl command type to chase after them. But in the instant they flew over the burning buildings, her pupils shrank in surprise.

Among the burning ruins, a swordsman in black armor was drawing a sword that shimmered with red light from the chest of the invincible Qin Yongsheng. However, there was no trace of blood on the ominous blade, as if all the blood in Qin Yongsheng's body had been sucked dry. The lifeless body fell to the ground, and the black armored swordsman beheaded him with one stroke. Qin Feng, who happened to be nearby, witnessed her father's decapitation, and a murderous intent appeared on her indifferent face. However, what surprised Uther was not this scene, but rather, on the steps not far away, a female swordsman carrying a mechanical sword had just torn off the insignia and rank on the Empire military coat of the man. That man was sitting in the shadows, his face unclear, munching on potato chips. And the swordsman was none other than Fiona, whom she had been searching for.

"Fiona!" Uther picked up her machine gun. "Give me back the core of Lucita!"

Ratatatat, the machine gun fired a scorching rain of bullets. Fiona quickly drew the magic sword from behind her back and deflected the incoming bullets with a streak of cold light. Uther saw that her initial attack missed and reached behind her to pull off the chainsaw sword hanging on a rack, the spinning sawtooth on the blade rumbling. Fiona casually blocked the chainsaw sword with her blue mechanical sword in her left hand. The blades sparkled and the chainsaw on Uther's sword began to rotate, but the high-hardness alloy teeth couldn't damage the mechanical sword in the slightest, only wearing out itself in helplessness. Fiona didn't even take a step back and easily blocked Uther's full-force blow from the Night Owl command type.

The weight of the Magic Armor was over five tons, plus the diving kinetic energy, the impact on Fiona's body instantly exceeded twenty tons. However, this Sword King calmly intercepted Uther's full assault, completely disregarding the laws of physics. Uther stepped on the pedal and swung the chainsaw sword in a circle, but once again, her attack was easily blocked. Fiona yawned lazily and whispered, "Roar, Scarlet."

A huge shockwave erupted. The mechanical arm and lance of the Night Owl command type were crushed together, the front armor cracked, and it flew out in a sorry state, crashing heavily into a wall. Before Uther could recover from the impact, Fiona's figure suddenly disappeared. The Night Owl command type's servo system was damaged and unable to stand up. Facing the incoming sword, Uther once again realized her own limits. The Magic Armor, after all, was a product of incomplete ancient technology. Compared to the "Knight" that inherited the essence of ancient magic technology, it was as laughable as a toy. If she wanted to become stronger, she had to give up using the Magic Armor as her primary combat method. However, the shadow of causing massive destruction while freely wielding power in the Garden of Eve still loomed over her.

The clash of gold and iron sounded, but the black armored swordsman stopped Fiona's mechanical sword with the long sword in his hand.

"Stop!" The helmet of the black armored swordsman popped open, revealing Ding Yi's face.

Uther couldn't help but open her mouth wide. How did Ding Yi become so powerful? The armor he was wearing suddenly caught her attention. It was a full body armor that was almost like a skin-tight suit, very close-fitting. However, Uther sensed a powerful flow of magic from this set of armor, and the circular mechanism resembling the Spirit Seed Furnace behind it was the source of the magic. This system was simply a miniature version of the Magic Armor.

"Huaiyu?" Qin Feng looked at her brother in astonishment. She pointed with her folding fan, and the Murderous Fiend rushed towards the bullets like lightning, striking down Fiona who was still locked in a stalemate with Ding Yi.

"Stop fighting!" Ding Yi stood in front of Uther. "Miss Fiona, and sister, please stop."

"Kid!" Fiona exuded a strong murderous intent. "When did you have the authority to command me?"

"You bitch! Dare to touch my brother?" Qin Feng ordered with a fierce killing intent. "Murderous Fiend!"

The mechanical servant immediately raised its long blade. The battle was about to break out, but at that moment, a man's voice resolved the crisis: "Alright, everyone stop fighting."

Uther turned his gaze towards the man sitting in the shadows, unable to see his face clearly. He slowly stood up and continued to speak with a deep voice, "Since we are not enemies at the moment, why waste energy killing each other?"

When he saw that face, Uther couldn't help but exclaim, "Lin?"

"Oh my!" Lin turned his face around, looking at Uther. The red crystal pendant on his chest sparkled. "Are you the one sitting in that extremely tasteless humanoid machine? Lai'er, is that you? It can't be. How could you drive such an ugly thing into the battlefield? You should have a more glamorous way of fighting, shouldn't you?"

With a loud bang, the cockpit door flew open. Uther released his seat belt and jumped out with effort. Seeing Uther in a pilot's attire, Lin tilted his head in confusion.

"Why have you turned into a child?"

"Who are you?" Uther drew his revolver. "Are you an evil spirit? Why did you possess my brother?"

"What? Your brother? You mean this guy?" Lin burst into laughter. "But to be honest, I'm quite satisfied with this body, even though it lacks quality and hasn't undergone systematic muscle training. However, his dedication and passion for knowledge are just like mine. With that, I am quite satisfied with him."

"You..." Uther's eyes widened with anger.

"Alright, let's end this pleasant post-dinner chat." Lin waved to Fiona. "We're out of chips. Shouldn't we retreat?"

"As you wish, Master." Fiona reluctantly bowed her head. Uther noticed the slave collar around her neck.

"Wait!" Uther fired a shot into the sky. "Fiona, where is Lucita's soul crystal?"

"Are you referring to this?" Lin took out a crystal from his chest pocket that shimmered with blue light. "Unfortunately, this thing is still very useful to me, so I can't give it to you for now. But... if it's you, why don't you come find me?" He tossed a round metal disc at Uther's feet and smiled. "This is Penglai's key. I have already replicated the magic inside. If you can unlock it... I'll be waiting for you in Penglai. If you're capable, then come and chase me."

After saying that, he turned and left. Uther raised his gun, aiming at the arrogant figure, but in the end, he reluctantly put it down. He couldn't bring himself to shoot at his few remaining friends.

"Damn it!" Uther threw his gun into the snow, angrily stomping his feet.

"Sister," Ding Yi bowed lightly to Qin Feng, "I have found a worthy monarch to follow. Take care."

"Huaiyu!" Before Qing Feng could say anything, Ding Yi closed his helmet. His figure became blurred and then completely disappeared from the air, leaving no trace.

The last to leave was Fiona. She gave Uther a scornful look, then turned and followed Lin's footsteps.

The three of them quickly disappeared, and Uther sensed a teleportation spell being activated, but he didn't know their destination. Looking at the headless body of his father, Qin Feng's expression turned as cold as ice. She turned and gave a command. The fierce-looking immediately pounced on Qin Yongsheng's corpse, swinging his four arms and swords, tearing the body into countless pieces. It was clear how much she hated her father. Qin Feng walked towards the inner courtyard, and Uther followed her uneasily. They walked one after the other into the central stone chamber of the inner courtyard, a building that stood out from the surrounding wooden structures, resembling a fortress.

Opening the rusty iron door, dozens of uncontrollable enslaved spirits fell inside. They appeared undamaged. Qin Feng paid no attention to those enslaved spirits and walked straight into the center of the stone chamber. Inside the formation surrounded by iron chains and stone pillars, a peculiar old tree wriggled its body covered in lumps. Upon closer inspection, the lumps on the tree trunk turned out to be faces! Moreover, each of those faces showed an expression of extreme pain, emitting cries of anguish from their open mouths. And within the embrace of that strange tree, a beautiful woman was being devoured, only her chest and head protruding outside. Her once delicate and fair skin had turned like tree bark, and her cloudy eyes lacked any vitality, as if she had withered completely.

"Mother," Qin Feng knelt in front of the tree.

Uther couldn't help but feel heartache. The only person who could have turned Qin Feng's mother into such a state was Qin Yongsheng, the head of the Qin family. Once this peculiar tree completely devoured her, this woman's soul would also turn into a lump on the tree trunk, unable to enter the cycle of reincarnation. No wonder Qin Feng hated her father so much. The protective barrier of the Qin family mansion relied on this peculiar tree as its core, using the people absorbed by the tree as a source of magic power, allowing it to unleash such a high-intensity defense formation. However, it was already too late. That woman was beyond saving.

Uther wanted to say a few comforting words, but they stuck in his throat. Qin Feng's face was terrifyingly calm, as she gracefully bowed to her mother, without a hint of mistake in her every move. When she took out the talisman from her sleeve, Uther could only watch as she burned the grotesque tree and her own mother together.

The grotesque tree emitted a mournful scream in the flames. As the trunk turned into charcoal, the souls it had absorbed were released and regained their freedom in the fire. The trapped souls dispersed in the air, transforming into flickering ethereal fires that slowly dissipated. A trace of relief finally appeared on Qin Feng's face as she watched those liberated souls.

"Master," she solemnly bowed to Uther, "my wish has been fulfilled."

"Is this really enough?" Uther asked, "If you wish to stay, I won't oppose it."

"Stay?" Qin Feng smiled faintly, "The only place I belong is by master's side."

At that moment, a man covered in blood stumbled into the room. His hair was disheveled, and his black robes were soaked in blood. Despite his injuries, he ran towards the burning grotesque tree like it was aflame. This person was Qin Jiang, crawling and stumbling past Uther, until he finally collapsed in front of the ritual circle, reaching out his hand towards the burning tree.

"Give back the foundation of my Qin Family!" he screamed in despair, "Return the foundation of my Qin Family!"

This man had gone mad.

Uther looked at him with sympathy, but Qin Feng only gave him a cold glance.

"We must catch up to those people," Uther said, "Qin Feng, we may soon have a direct confrontation with your brother. Are you prepared for war against him?"

"There is a saying in Yu Jing: 'Everyone follows their own path'," Qin Feng said calmly, "In the face of master's enemies, I will do everything I can."

"I accept your determination," Uther glanced at the completely crazy Qin Jiang, "Although it's a bit regrettable for this idiotic youth, before we leave, it is necessary to search the Qin Residence. The Explorer will join us within three days, and everything that can be moved should be moved, especially the undamaged mechanical servants. We should try to salvage all the spare parts as well."

"Understood, master," Qin Feng bowed deeply.

In the swirling snowflakes, Uther once again used his magic to seal off the Qin Residence. It would take two more days for the Explorer to arrive in Cang Yin.
