Bunny Theater: The Movie—Part Nine: Jiuj

“Whoa! It’s a Super Bunny Monster Melee!”

The Bunnies clapped happily. They’d always loved things that were big and looked imposing. Aipo had grown much larger, but no matter how you looked at him, he was still very Bunny-shaped.

And Bunnies… basically had no chance of looking imposing.

That giant Titan-armored Bunny, though, looked much more intimidating. Naturally, the Bunnies were thrilled. A Super Bunny robot had appeared! What was there not to be happy about?

At that moment, the enormous fleshy mountain that was Aipo suddenly twisted both arms of the mech Bunny, Sugo, turning them a full three hundred and sixty degrees!

He jerked his hands upward, forcing her arms into the air, and spoke with immense pride.

“Hmph! Even if you’re wearing Titan armor, I, Aipo, am not—”

Squelch!

A gigantic mechanical fist slammed straight into his face, crushing it inward!

Of course, it wasn’t strange for a Bunny’s cheek to cave in after being punched by another Bunny. It’d recover by the next day anyway.

But who would’ve thought Sugo could land that punch with both of her wrists twisted around?

“Whoa! Your arms can rotate on their own?!”

Aipo let out a miserable scream. He flipped right where he stood, then took Sugo’s second punch in midair!

He was sent flying.

His enormous body crashed into the ground, startling the other Bunnies.

After that second punch, the Titan armor on Sugo’s body began to break apart!

This time, Sugo was used to it. The Super Warrior Bunny cards were powerful, but they could usually only manage one or two attacks…

Hmm. They reminded her of the Lightning Bunny card from before.

Once Sugo’s Titan armor disassembled, she flipped down toward the ground. The moment she landed, another Bunny smacked her on the butt.

It looked like nothing more than a pat, but Sugo was sent straight into a backflip.

Hmm… this was fun!

Fighting Bunnies was fun!

Aipo had taken such a heavy attack that he’d been sent flying, but now he was merely lying on the ground, snoring away.

It wasn’t fatal. It was just incredibly satisfying.

Was this what a Bunny brawl was like?

Thinking that, she hit the ground face-first. When she raised her head, she saw a black-and-white Bunny picking up things dropped by the other Bunnies.

Hmm?

The other Bunny turned to look at her and blinked his remarkably expressive eyes.

“You’re not actually a Paladin Bunny, are you, little girl?”

As he spoke, he raised his long ears, black on the outside and white on the inside.

The Bunny’s markings looked less like a Bunny’s and more like some kind of dog. The black-and-white pattern on his body was perfectly symmetrical.

He really resembled one of those dogs that loved rolling around in ice and snow.

“You really aren’t one,” he continued. “The other Bunnies have to hold back when they play with you. Don’t get the wrong idea.”

“What nonsense are you talking about?! With power like this, I obviously have the right to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Paladin Bunnies!”

Huh?!

A second pair of Bunny arms suddenly appeared from the dog-patterned Bunny’s belly. They wrapped around the dog-patterned Bunny—Morris—around the waist.

The next moment, Morris was flipped over!

The Bunny behind him held on without hesitation and performed a German suplex.

With perfect directness, he smashed the dog-patterned Bunny’s head into the ground!

Yes, the Bunny who had appeared this time looked utterly ordinary.

If there was anything special about him, it was that, like Morris, he carried a huge backpack on his back. He even had a waist pouch and a shoulder bag.

The moment this Bunny appeared, an excited smile spread across his face. He stood upright, patted his shoulder bag, and spoke.

“All right, Sugo over there. I know the Scholars’ Association modified you into a Bunny. Come on, with this…”

He pulled out a card.

For some reason, it was the same kind of mechanical card as the Bunny card Sugo had used.

“You’ll be able to defeat any Paladin Bunny.”

Any?!

Sugo stared at the card in surprise, then looked up at the Bunny before her.

He wore a smile fit for a professional salesman and held the card out to her.

Sugo actually took it and inserted it into her belt.

The belt erupted with a fierce surge of power!

Yes, power!

There was no roll call. There was no transformation.

But overwhelming strength suddenly burst forth all the same!

“Heh heh. That cheese is mine!”

The power filled Sugo with infinite confidence.

She charged forward and punched another Bunny in the cheek, moving as fast as lightning!

At that instant, the Bunny’s body spun through the air like a top.

The spinning Bunny blinked while turning over and over.

Huh? He’d been punched?!

His round eyes even met Sugo’s through the mech’s faceplate.

Hmm?

“You’ve got nothing but speed!”

The other Bunny twisted around and instantly landed on Sugo’s shoulders!

The next moment, he spun his body like a giant python carrying prey. He wrenched Sugo off the ground, flipped through the air, and slammed her down.

I’ve been tricked!

Sugo screamed inwardly.

She looked down and saw the card spring from her belt.

It had turned blank!

No, wait. The card had been blank from the beginning. Some kind of illusion had merely made it look as if it were glowing!

Sugo looked toward the Bunny who had given her the card.

That Bunny was already grinning slyly as he began rummaging through the dog-patterned Bunny’s backpack.

“Are you stupid? How could you trust Jiujiu?”

The Bunny planted both hands on his hips and looked down at Sugo.

He wore a tattered, sleeveless uniform. Behind him stood a strange bus.

It wasn’t very large. In every sense, it was a Bunny-sized bus.

But unlike an ordinary bus, it wasn’t a machine.

It was… an orange cat.

Yes, most of its body was hollow, but it was still an orange cat.

It had a driver’s seat and doors. You could even see seats inside.

But it was an orange cat.

Even from a human perspective, this orange cat was terrifyingly huge. It was even larger than an ordinary tiger.

Now, the orange cat stared wide-eyed at Sugo alongside its owner. Its tail swished back and forth.

The Bunny named Kant called himself a bus driver, but he was actually a martial artist.

He reached out a hand.

“Take a good look. That utterly ordinary-looking Bunny is Jiujiu. He’s one of the greatest con artists among us Paladin Bunnies.”

Kant reached down and pulled Sugo off the ground. Then he pointed toward the white Bunny in the distance.

“Don’t believe anything he says too easily. He probably won’t get you killed…”

“But suffering a little is perfectly normal.”

“There are Bunnies like that, too…”

“Yeah. I imagine it’s his idea of fun. Among us Bunnies, the two things you can never interfere with are fighting and having fun.”

As he spoke, Kant planted both hands on his hips, displaying muscles that were remarkably powerful for a Bunny.

“After all, our lives and everything we have will eventually be offered to the survival of the Bunny race. There isn’t much else we’re allowed to control, you know!”

Is that so?

Sugo was a little surprised.

She’d never really understood why these Paladin Bunnies loved fighting so much, or why their fights had to be so outrageous.

But now, she understood somewhat.

They could already vaguely see the end of their lives. So they had to seize every moment and every second, and live them to the fullest.

Thinking this, she touched the card case at the side of her belt.

I wonder how many Bunny cards I can farm today!

With that thought, she casually flung out a card and slapped it onto Kant.

Kant proudly puffed out his chest. He wasn’t afraid of any attack!

But the moment the card stuck to him, his body began to convulse.

Kant immediately screamed.

“Waaaaaah! You suuuuuckered-puuuuunched meeee!”

He collapsed while twitching.

Sugo waved her hand, and the card fell into her grasp.

She had more or less begun to understand why she could absorb the Paladin Bunnies’ powers.

Even after their abilities were drained, the Paladin Bunnies still retained those powers within themselves. They merely became weak for a while.

But if they encountered an enemy during that weakened period…

Sugo looked down at the card in her hand.

Perhaps she really was a weapon against Paladin Bunnies, developed by Grant’s Scholars’ Association.

At that moment, a flash of light swept across the card.

Then an image appeared on it.

Hmm?!

It was an orange cat!

Sugo blinked. She raised her head and locked eyes with the orange-cat bus, which was crouched on the ground with its rear raised.

Those green cat eyes blinked.

Its eyelashes alone could probably create a gust of wind.

“Let’s go!”

Sugo inserted the card.

The belt announced:

“[Bus! Iaido——————]”

By the time the final three words sounded, Sugo was already driving the orange-cat bus!

“Heh heh… There are way too many Bunnies to scam today!”

Jiujiu stood up and said this with immense satisfaction.

He wasn’t interested in the cheese. But it was rare for so many Bunnies to gather together.

How could he not scam every last one of them?

“[Dump Truck!]”

The belt’s final call was a sudden charge from the orange-cat bus!

It slammed violently into Jiujiu’s back.

“It’s a dump truck?!”

Jiujiu let out a scream as he was sent flying.
