Chapter 2: It is Impossible for Heroes to Stay Away from Wars
update icon Updated at 2023/6/19 17:42:19

Three months later.

In the farthest northern part of the empire, inside the Duchy of Coerthas, lies the only city called Heran City.

"Alright, that should be enough!" Chen Ai wiped the sweat from his forehead. He had been working non-stop since 4 in the morning until noon, for a total of 7 hours.

Although he was exhausted, Chen Ai couldn't help but feel excited.

In front of him stood a three-story wooden building. The wiped door frame exuded a simple glow.

On the second floor hung a meticulously polished plaque with the words "Blaze Hotel" engraved in large, gilded letters.

In the front yard grew the Sky Demon Gardenia flowers that Chen Ai had brought back from the demon race territory, exuding a faint fragrance.

Chen Ai looked contentedly at the hotel before him.

In his previous life, he was a poor office worker living in rental houses that cost only a few hundred bucks. Now, after years of hard work in this foreign world, he finally owns his own property.

This hotel occupied more than 700 square meters, with facilities for dining, a tavern, and accommodation.

Although it was still considered a simple and small hotel compared to other hotels in Heran City, Chen Ai didn't mind.

As the saying goes, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and the start of a dream is often humble.

Chen Ai believed that as long as he worked hard, this small shop could one day rise to the level of a five-star hotel.

Putting aside those lofty ideals, what's most important now is - from today on, he is Boss Chen! Hahaha!

Feeling incredibly proud of himself, Chen Ai put his hands on his hips, squinting his eyes and enjoying the sense of achievement flowing within him.

The only thing that worried him slightly was that this place was clearly in the central area of Heran City, yet for some reason, its previous owner had sold the property and the hotel to him at an extremely low price. The owner seemed to be in a hurry to sign the deed with him and left without looking back after receiving the money.

It was as if they had gotten rid of a plague...

Chen Ai had suspected the hotel might have had some issues, but he carefully checked and found no traces of curses from undead mages or hidden traps from the demon race.

Chen Ai could not find out any possible problems with the building and was not worried about encountering any problems, because with his own abilities, even if there were high-level demons hidden inside, he could easily defeat them.

"I've made it through the War of Gods, so why should I be afraid of any secrets this little hotel may hold? I'll just deal with any problem as it comes."

In the end, Chen Ai relied on his own abilities and talents, purchased this somewhat suspicious property.

"And with that, my longed-for peaceful life has finally arrived. From now on, I will no longer be a warrior or an adventurer, but a retired, reclusive hotel owner, spending my days in the city's hustle and bustle, living out my petit-bourgeois life... "

Just as Chen Ai was thinking that, he suddenly heard a creaking sound coming from behind, accompanied by a strong wave of magical power. And, this magical power did not belong to humans!

"Elf magic?!" Elf magic is the origin of human magic. In other words, human magic is a degenerated version of elf magic. Among mages of the same level, those who master elf magic have an overwhelming advantage.

Facing an opponent using elf magic, one must never let their guard down.

Has a new storm arrived?

Chen Ai turned around, his hand on his waist, only to find that his sword was no longer there.

In front of him, the previously dense forest had begun to move strangely, its branches extending to both sides, revealing a door, arched stained-glass windows, and white walls. The trees and building blended together seamlessly, forming another three-story high hotel!

The second-floor sign was carved from deep blue jade, with the artistic words "Wizard of Oz" engraved, its imposing atmosphere far outstripping that of Chen Ai's hotel.

On the third floor was a semi-circular balcony. A young girl stood there, her long hair fluttering in the wind.

Chen Ai looked up, the intense noon sunlight shining on the white wall, reflecting a bright light that made it difficult for him to open his eyes fully.

The girl gently wrapped her hair around her fingers, looking down at Chen Ai with interest.

"Oh? Someone has taken over this hotel again? Blaze Hotel, what a vulgar name." The girl had a playful smile on her face, her voice clear like the sound of silver bells."If you were a smart person, you should have taken down the hotel sign earlier and changed to another business. But you, you actually renovated this hotel again." Chen Ai finally adjusted to the light and opened his eyes wide, discovering that the girl indeed had a pair of long ears.

The ability to manipulate trees with elf magic and long ears, this girl must be an elf. "Daring to open a hotel right across from my Green Field, you're just another complete fool." After finishing her sentence, the girl leaped down from the third floor.

With a light touch of her toes and fluttering sleeves, the girl landed like a butterfly in front of Chen Ai. At such a close distance, Chen Ai finally saw her face clearly - a perfect appearance that was no less than that of Freya. "So how long are you planning for your hotel to go bankrupt this time? Three months? Or five?" The girl sneered.

The girl's use of the word "again" indicates that she had more than one person open a hotel here before, and without exception, they all collapsed within three to five months. Suddenly, Chen Ai seemed to understand why this hotel was so cheap. The reason was completely contrary to his own idea, which was something he could not solve with force!

The girl clapped her hands twice above her head, and the door behind her boomed open, as if revealing another world. Exquisite decorations, magnificent chandeliers, and a fresh, serene atmosphere dominated by dark wood tones.

Elegant elf music floated in the air, with musicians clearly playing in the hall. Two rows of elves dressed in gorgeous long dresses emerged from the inner hall, standing on either side of the door with their hands respectfully placed in front of them, appearing extremely professional.

The most beautiful elf among them, with an equally elegant stride, descended from the jade-like staircase. She had an extremely tall figure, almost equal to Chen Ai, who is a man.

She walked along the staircase to the side of the elf girl, one hand behind her back and the other on her left chest, her body slightly tilted forward, performing the standard elf etiquette.

The tall elf spoke respectfully to the girl in front of her: "Miss, everything is ready."

Chen Ai was dumbfounded as he watched everything unfold. He was completely outclassed in every aspect, making his hotel incomparable to the competition.

The presence of such an excellent hotel across from the Blaze Hotel made the customers' choice clear at a glance.

Chen Ai thought that by leaving the Imperial City and the Empire, he would avoid conflicts. However, wherever there are people, there are conflicts!

He could never have expected that even in this small kingdom far from the Empire, the marketplace could be as fierce as a battleground!

Recalling the previous owner's relieved expression after handing over the hotel, Chen Ai realized he was in trouble. He had no hotel management experience and didn't know how to compete with such a powerful rival.

Having spent his capital on purchasing this hotel, he faced immediate losses upon opening, and he might even need to pawn his underwear!

Chen Ai looked at the girl in front of him with some horror.

The girl leaned close to Chen Ai, narrowed her eyes, and whispered, "I'm looking forward to your performance, please try to last a little longer. Hello, I'm Michelle, you can call me Xue'er."

Without waiting for Chen Ai's response, she turned away, flicked her jade-green hair, and walked into her own restaurant with a seductive stride.

Her proud posture was like that of a queen walking in her own castle. The tall elf girl smiled apologetically at Chen Ai before following Michelle's steps.

"Girls, open for business." The pleasant voice rang out, sounding like the trumpets of war.

"Yes!" The elf waitresses followed Michelle on both sides like stars surrounding the moon.

Chen Ai's hairs stood on end.

Suddenly, a new war belonging to the warriors had begun!
