At the beginning of the world, there were countless creatures so powerful that they were referred to as gods in various religions. The era in which these gods existed was called the First Age, and they were known as the Gold Kind. However, after many years of war among the gods, countless gods fell, the world became fragmented, and it could no longer bear the existence of these divine beings. The remaining gods were banished to different planes by the great will of the world.
The weaker creatures left behind, such as giants and dragons, then ruled the world. These entities, only slightly weaker than the gods, were called the Silver Kind. Unfortunately, as time passed, the Silver Kind became increasingly rare and eventually hid in various corners of Karplus.
In a world where the gods and giants and dragons had disappeared, three powerful races with divine bloodlines, Angels, Demons, and Aquatics, dominated the world. However, due to their constant warring, these races weakened and retreated to different locations to preserve their kind. The Angels chose to live far above the ground, creating heaven; the Demons lived far below in a place called the abyss; and the Aquatics continued to thrive in the depths of the ocean.
Thus, the era of the three races came to an end and was known as the Second Age. These three races were referred to as the Bronze Kind. Then, a few thousand years ago, several weaker races emerged, including humans, elves, and orcs, who were called the Iron Kind. Unfortunately, this history has been buried and forgotten over time.
Only a select few people know the true story of the world—
For the vast majority, like Brey today, they are utterly perplexed.
"What are you talking about?" Brey barely began to speak before he was interrupted by the uncle.
"Well, I'm sorry, but I don't have time to chat with you right now."
"They're here…" The uncle spoke gravely, his expression tense.
"What do you mean…"
Soon Brey understood what "they" meant.
"Boom!" The prison walls crumbled like paper, bricks flying everywhere.
Brey finally got a good look at the source of the roar.
A massive body like a clock tower, with clearly visible red-purple muscle fibers.
Rusty, black armor as thick as a wall covered its enormous frame.
A mixed, beast-like face—with features of a lion, sheep, and eagle.
Thick, dark chains wrapped around the monster's arms, binding it to the ground.
The ground was covered in eerie, purple-filled patterns.
Although Brey wanted to ask what it was, the uncle had no time to entertain Brey's questions.
Knowing his place, Brey decisively hid in a seemingly safe location.
"Heh, Bronze Kind's Demon fatty," the uncle casually said as he jumped close to the creature.
The being called the Demon didn't speak, instead slamming a hammer onto the ground.
The chain made a loud "clang," the ground cracked rapidly, and the floor turned into countless pieces of brick.
"Roar!" The Demon roared and went on a rampage, destroying nearby buildings.
"Mind your tone."
"Standing before you is a great Demon. And you, merely an Iron Kind's insignificant worm."
"Yeah, yeah, you're a big Demon, and I also know you're called Garuda," the uncle said nonchalantly.
Garuda didn't say a word, opening his hands and slapping towards the arrogant uncle, frost spreading in every direction.
Upon seeing this, the uncle's pupils shrank, and he quickly retreated.
However, the uncle's movement was still too slow.
Instead of retreating, the uncle stood frozen in place, with frost encasing him and the ground in front of him.
"…" The uncle, maintaining his position of holding a blade and retreating, was frozen on the ground, just like an ice sculpture.
"I know you. You're one of the fools from 'God's Nemesis'," Garuda sneered.
"Pity, I'm not one of those pathetic clowns who call themselves 'Demon Lord' with the power of a Demon, nor am I the useless Demons you usually defeat."
Garuda pinched the uncle's head with precision, without crushing it.The chains restricted Garuda's movements, making him very annoyed.
"It's rare for a fool to summon me, and I was in a good mood, but these annoying chains..."
Garuda jerked the chains, causing them to tighten and make a "ping" sound.
However, they didn't break.
As a demon living in the abyss, coming to the surface is usually quite troublesome.
No matter how powerful a Demon is, they must pay a price to break through the abyss.
The fastest shortcut is to be summoned.
Some people who have learned the secrets of the world recklessly attempt to summon beings beyond their control, hoping to gain power beyond that of the Iron Kind.
This time, Garuda's appearance was the result of a misguided sorcerer essentially courting death.
The sorcerer sacrificed the broken bodies of everyone in the magic array to summon the powerful Demon, hoping to obtain the forbidden knowledge of the Bronze Kind...
"What interesting ants."
Garuda opened his palm, revealing a battered female sorcerer in the center of it.
With a "whoosh" sound, the female sorcerer's body was reduced to ashes by the purple flames.
But just when Garuda was absent-minded, something unusual began to occur to the ice sculpture.
"Crack" a short, strange sound was heard -
"Since you know I'm one of the 'God's Nemesis.'
"You should know how many ways we have to deal with beings that are not of the Iron Kind." The frost cracked open, and the uncle's voice came from behind the ice shards.
"We are the protectors of the Iron Kind, and the nemesis of higher species."
"God's Nemesis." The long knife was held vertically in front of him, emitting a chilling aura from the blade.
"You like our organization's name, don't you?" The uncle smiled at the Demon with a crooked grin.
