The phone connected after a few rings.

"Hello, Yen, are you asleep yet?"

"No, Yanran, why are you calling so late?" The one answering the phone was Chu Yan, who had been best friends with Xu Yanran since their childhood. Chu Yan lived not too far from the Linjian court, in the Junhao Garden.

"I was wondering if you would be free tomorrow morning. If you are, I can come over, and we can go shopping on Sunday."

"You aren’t free tomorrow afternoon? You’ve been busy every Saturday afternoon for over a year now. Ever since you got a tutor, your grades have improved quickly. I'm happy for you, but you haven't visited me on a Saturday morning for quite some time, and you don't come out to play in the afternoon either." Chu Yan sounded a bit upset.

Xu Yanran's family has been very lax with her upbringing. Due to their busy careers, the Xu family hardly ever interacts with Yanran. Thus, Yanran spent most of her time hanging out with friends, especially Chu Yan.

"Hehe, at least I'm coming over tomorrow."

"Alright, I’ll expect you in the morning. Given that you have tuition on Saturday afternoons, I will come over to your place. I am very curious about this tutor who has helped you improve your grades so quickly. If possible, they can help me too."

Just as Chu Yan finished speaking, Xu Yanran rolled over and stood up from her bed.

Yen is coming over and also wants to meet LingFan?

For some reason, Xu Yanran felt a bit uncomfortable.

"Are you sure you want to come? I am not sure if said tutor is welcoming." Yanran suppressed other thoughts in her mind and made an out-of-context comment.

"I just want to improve my grades and go to the same high school as Yanran!"

"Alright, then you can just come over tomorrow for lunch."

"Thank you, Yanran. See you tomorrow!" Chu Yan seemed delighted.

"See you tomorrow!" After hanging up the phone, Xu Yanran let out a sigh and glanced at a delicate pink photo frame on her table. A picture inside showed the side face of LingFan, bathing in the sunset. He was shielding his face with his fingers, allowing the light to sprinkle onto his cheeks.

The picture captured LingFan’s side face as he squinted his eyes to enjoy the pinks and oranges of the late afternoon in Yanran's private garden.

Caught off guard by the beauty of the moment, Yanran immediately rushed upstairs to grab her camera and captured the shot.

LingFan was basking in the warmth, oblivious to the fact that he had just been taken a candid picture of.

Life should be this easy and pleasing. This was LingFan's thought at the time.

Yanran walked up to the desk, staring at the picture with an indescribable feeling.

In the neighbouring Junhao Garden, in a room filled with pink flair, Su Moran was casually flipping through LingFan’s grade six notebook.

It wasn't until there was a knock on the door that Su Moran's actions were interrupted.

"Moran, did you go to bed yet? Is it okay if I come in?" It was Su Wen’s voice outside the door.

"Come in, Mom."

After receiving Su Moran's reply, Su Wen opened the door.

"I've already talked to LingFan. He said it's fine, but he'll be out before two in the afternoon and won't be back until five." LingFan had told Su Wen not to disclose the fact that he was giving Xu Yanran a tutoring lesson in the afternoon to Su Moran.

Although it didn't seem a big deal to mention it, LingFan had a hunch that it would be better if it remained unspoken. Hence, he kept it from both Xu Zhonghao and Su Wen.

"Really? Brother Ling agreed?" Su Moran's voice was filled with joy.

"He agreed. But are you sure you trust him alone with you at home? Honestly, I’m having my doubts. After all, he's already a freshman." Su Wen paused for a second, and then continued."Although I have been in contact with him for a year and know him well enough, but..."

"I trust Brother Ling, and didn't mom also say that we've been in contact for more than a year? I think Brother Ling is a very competent and reliable person," Su Moran interrupted Su Wen's words.

"... Alright, mom trusts you." Seeing this, Su Wen stopped trying to persuade her and left Su Moran's room. She also rated LingFan's character highly. Over a year, he's never done anything to make her frown. It's clear to Su Wen that LingFan is strict with himself, and adept at human relations.

Most importantly, after observing for so long, Su Wen noticed how genuinely LingFan looked at Su Moran, completely devoid of any ulterior motive.

If not, she might not have agreed even if it was Su Moran's request.

"Sigh..." Despite LingFan's sincerity, Su Wen couldn't help but sigh.

The state of Su Moran, Su Wen noticed, Su Wen wasn't blind or oblivious.

It was obvious that Su Moran was somewhat interested in LingFan, somewhat intrigued.

Su Wen wasn't sure when Su Moran started to feel this way. The first time it seemed off was when LingFan proposed he would stop tutoring. Su Wen felt it was a pity, considering LingFan was a great tutor in her eyes.

After LingFan left that day, during dinner, Su Wen told Su Moran about the news. Su Moran was stunned, left her meal unfinished and retired back to her room, never to come out again.

At first, Su Wen thought it was a temporary emotional reaction. She herself had cried a lot when she graduated and had to say goodbye to her classmates and teachers back then.

But the next morning when Su Wen secretly peeked into Su Moran's room and found her still crying with tissues scattered everywhere, Su Wen realized something was wrong.

Seeing Su Moran's swollen eyes, Su Wen knew, Su Moran had cried all night, ignoring her no matter how much Su Wen tried to comfort her.

Out of options, Su Wen urgently sent driver Old Zhang to fetch LingFan, at the same time making a call to LingFan. It was Sunday, and LingFan was about to catch up on sleep after staying up all night playing games.

Upon receiving Su Wen's call, LingFan didn't take it too seriously, planning to go over, solve the issue quickly and return to sleep.

When he arrived at the Su's residence and saw the piles of tissues from Su Moran's room and her swollen eyes, LingFan was totally awake, realizing it wasn't as simple as he had thought.

What was going on? What on earth happened? Was he missing something major?

After a bit of coaxing and persuading, he finally managed to calm Su Moran down, thus his plan of stepping back was aborted.

From that point on, Su Wen knew that her daughter was having some extraneous thoughts.

Rationally speaking, nipping it at bud was the best option.

But thinking of Su Moran's state that day, Su Wen hesitated.

She had never seen Su Moran crying so desperately before.

And LingFan did nothing wrong, he merely did what a teacher is supposed to do, without any impropriety.

Su Moran's academic progress was remarkable, and LingFan was instrumental to it. Thinking of this, Su Wen felt deflated.

Sigh, let it evolve naturally. Maybe a few years later, it would be fine.

That was the only thing Su Wen could think of.

While Su Wen was bothered, Su Moran was rolling in glee on her bed, opening her closet and starting to pick outfits.

"Oh boy, finally got it done, gonna have some good fun tomorrow night." LingFan couldn't help but plan his undisturbed weekend.

Having finished his teaching plan for the next day and washing his handkerchief, LingFan took a pleasant shower, set his alarm, and went to sleep.
