update icon Updated at 2023/6/19 17:42:43

On weekends, LingFan sets aside a day to tutor. He never expected this skill to be so unexpectedly useful! "God, without tutoring, I would probably starve to death. No one gives me money to spend, and LingFan feels quite helpless about it. The school does give him a decent amount of money, working less than four hours a week and earning 2,400 a month, but as a growing young man living by himself, the rent and daily expenses are not small, and LingFan also spends some money on games from time to time.

LingFan once considered reviving his glorious mage persona and stand like a man, at least that's how it's written in many novels in this world, and he imagines that he's not the first to cross over. But dreams are often much better than reality. "Damn it, intelligence is a mage's exclusive power, why did I become disabled? Why didn't I become a knight in my previous life? It feels like this has something to do with my previous life!" LingFan complains bitterly.

Fortunately, LingFan is quite open-minded and doesn't let this affect him too much. In his second year of middle school, LingFan thinks he can take on a part-time job on weekends since he doesn't have many friends in his class or any club activities to be involved in, and he wouldn't participate anyway.

LingFan uses his expensive computer to search for suitable jobs online. For LingFan, this is the most valuable thing he owns, along with a popular smartphone. After a busy weekend, LingFan finally finds a few suitable jobs.

The job requires tutoring sixth-grade math, male or female applicants are welcome, and no educational background is required, but a trial class is needed, and the employment result is based on the interview. The location is at a posh villa district. The place is not near the city center, it is a high-end villa area, with no high-rise buildings, all are separate villas. LingFan calculates that it takes about an hour by bus, the distance is quite far, but he has his own considerations.

Looking at the shocking house prices in this area, LingFan feels that even working for another fifty years would not be enough. But living in this kind of area guarantees personal safety and the residents here are wealthy, so the treatment should not be bad, as long as he can pass the job interview.

So, MingFan contacts the job poster by phone. "Hello?" On the other end of the phone is a young-sounding woman. "Hello, may I please speak with Sister Su? I'm LingFan, I saw the information you posted on the internet and I'd like to apply. Could you please give me a chance?" Upon hearing that the contact person has the surname Su and the voice is quite young, calling her sister shouldn't be a problem.

"Hehe, LingFan, what a nice name! You want to apply for the tutoring job, right? The requirements are listed in the post, and the address is there as well. Come and give a trial class on next Saturday morning at 9:30am." Sister Su says, seemingly satisfied with the address. "Thank you for giving me this opportunity, I will be punctual," LingFan replies politely.

"You seem to be a very polite young man, but being able to do this job requires more than just politeness!" "I understand, I'll contact you again on Saturday." "Contact me on Saturday." After that, Sister Su hangs up the phone. LingFan thinks to himself that interacting with people is really a difficult task and being invisible in class is a wise choice. He reaffirms his goal to be an invisible person and tries to find more job offers – he couldn't just count on this one opportunity. After an hour, LingFan found another promising piece of information. "Wow, this is tailor-made for me!" It's in another villa area nearby, Linjian Xiaoyuan, just a ten-minute walk away. Tutoring first-year junior high school students in math and geography. Remuneration: to be discussed. Requirements: teaching experience, one trial lesson, gender not limited. "This is perfect!" LingFan thought happily.

Finding a tutoring job for him was not easy. They either required female teachers, or bachelor's and master's degree holders, or something else. It was not that he could not teach high school, but letting a junior high school student teach high schoolers was just too absurd. "Is Lady Luck finally smiling at me?" LingFan couldn't help but think boldly.

However, he still needed to pass the interview. With this in mind, LingFan made another phone call, and this time it was answered by a deep male voice. LingFan's polite conversation skills left a good impression on the other party, and they scheduled an interview for Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, LingFan arrived at Junhao Garden as promised. Once inside Junhao Garden, LingFan felt like a country bumpkin entering the city, as everything was new and fresh to him. His current living space was tiny, with just a small bedroom, a separate bathroom with a balcony, and nothing else.

Looking at the luxurious villas and their own private gardens, LingFan couldn't help but feel the disparity between his current situation and those living in the luxury. Arriving at Sister Su's home, LingFan was a bit nervous, but he quickly calmed himself down and sent her a message that he had arrived.

Soon, the door was opened. "You must be LingFan?" Sister Su looked at the boy in front of her with her mouth slightly agape, the shock apparent, swallowing down her prepared opening remarks. At grade eight, LingFan was not yet 170cm tall, and his mature soul couldn't change his youthful appearance.

"Yes, Sister Su, as you can see, I'm LingFan," LingFan replied honestly. The woman in front of him looked no older than 25 or 26, but LingFan guessed she must be in her thirties, given that her child was already in grade six.

"Considering you are in junior high, how can you tutor my daughter?" Sister Su spoke and wanted to dismiss LingFan, thinking he was wasting her time with a prank. But then she noticed his Moral Education Middle School uniform, especially the school emblem on the left chest, and she asked without waiting for LingFan's explanation, "Are you studying at Moral Education Middle School?"

"Yes, I'm in second-year junior high at Moral Education Middle School," LingFan replied as he noticed Sister Su checking his uniform.

"Who is your homeroom teacher?" Sister Su continued her questions.

"Lan Xiaoyue," LingFan replied, sensing that she was verifying his identity.

Sister Su picked up her phone and sent a message to Lan Xiaoyue, her best friend, to check LingFan's background. She then apologized and invited LingFan in. "Come in and sit down, it's not polite to leave guests waiting outside. By the way, my name is Su Wen, you can call me Sister Su." LingFan thought things were getting tricky, but his school uniform unexpectedly helped to smooth things over.

LingFan didn't have many clothes and wore his school uniform to the interview. He had chosen to wear the uniform considering his young appearance and the fact that the Moral Education Middle School's uniform, to some extent, symbolized academic excellence. Students in the school's advanced and key classes, like LingFan, were given special uniforms. The elite class consists of only 40 students per grade, so from junior high to high school, there are only 240 students across the six grades, with all the top students from the entire province gathered here.

The class uniform is a limited edition symbol of prestige throughout the province, and it is not something that just anyone can wear at Moral Education Middle School.

The elite class is the face of Moral Education Middle School, and it is not a class that can be entered simply through connections. Only a few people can enter this class through their connections, and they mustn't have poor academic performance as a prerequisite; if their performance is too poor, there is absolutely no chance. Once the elite class starts, it is basically a one-way exit with no new entries.

At Moral Education Middle School, academic achievement and moral character are always given top priority. In addition, with advanced management methods and strong teaching resources, parents are eager to send their children to this school.

The living room was decorated in a very modern style, suggesting that it was designed by a professional.

"Here, try on these slippers and see if they fit," Sister Su handed a newly unwrapped pair of indoor slippers to LingFan.

"Thank you, Sister Su, they fit perfectly." LingFan couldn't help but wonder if she had guessed his size just by glancing at his feet.

He then followed Sister Su into the living room.

"Sit on the sofa for a while, I'll pour you a drink. What would you like to drink?"

"Just water, please, Sister Su." LingFan sat down politely on the sofa. He was very cautious in his interactions with others due to his introverted nature. However, he wasn't completely ignorant of etiquette and didn't display any impolite behavior, such as looking around the room.

"Why just water? You're in the middle of growing up, let me treat you with some milk," said Su Wen and went to the kitchen.

As she poured the milk for LingFan, Su Wen received a reply from Lan Xiaoyue.

Lan Xiaoyue: What's wrong, Wenwen? LingFan is a student in my class, with outstanding academic and moral performance. Is there anything going on?

Su Wen: I understand, Xiaoyue. I'll call you back later.

Su Wen put away her phone and rubbed her chin, lost in thought.
