Chapter 37

"What are you guys doing?"

Raina Nan glanced at them and bent down to change her shoes.

"..."

The three of them stood at the entrance and didn't say a word.

"Raina is back, come in and eat quickly, the food is getting cold."

Dad spoke first, then gestured at Samson Nan.

"Oh, okay."

Samson Nan hesitated for a moment.

"Let me help you with your bag."

He reached out to take her backpack.

"No need..."

She muttered softly and looked up.

Their eyes met briefly before she looked away again.

What was this awkward feeling? Even she couldn't explain it.

"Give it to me!"

"Huh?!"

She wasn't paying attention and he snatched her backpack away.

"Wow, it's quite heavy. How many books did you bring?"

He held the backpack with one hand and weighed it up and down.

"What are you doing?!"

She felt inexplicably angry. She had been lost in thought, while he seemed carefree and silly.

"I feel bad for my little sister. She has to go to tutoring every day during vacation, and then carry this heavy bomb back home. What's the problem?"

"What are you saying..."

She suddenly felt her cheeks turning red and lowered her head, too embarrassed to look at him.

...

"Uh, anyway..."

At the dining table, Mom couldn't sit still any longer.

"Samson, don't forget what you said. Find a chance to talk to your sister, okay?"

As she washed the dishes, she reminded him.

"Don't be too direct, just ask a little bit."

Dad also chimed in.

"You two don't need to worry about it. This is not a big deal, and we don't even know if it's true or not."

"As a good student, Raina is doing well in school, so she shouldn't ruin her future with this kind of thing."

"I know..."

Samson Nan understood his parents' expectations for Raina Nan. At least on this point, he agreed with them.

...

"Yuyu, I'm coming in."

"Okay."

The door to Raina Nan's room was partially open, so he gently pushed it open.

She didn't look at him, but continued to work on her homework at the desk.

He walked over and plopped down on her bed.

Raina Nan's desk was right next to the bed, but she didn't react to him and kept writing on the paper.

It was strange. In the past, she would never have allowed him to sit on her bed, but this time she didn't have any reaction at all.

After a moment, only the ticking of the wall clock could be heard.

He was bored, so he lay down and turned to the side.

"Ah, it smells so good."

He buried his head in the covers."You... What are you smelling? Get up!"

She couldn't hold back anymore.

"No, what brand of shower gel are you using, Xiaodian? It smells nice."

He said calmly.

"It's none of your business, you pervert. Get up!"

She shouted at him with a red face.

"Hehe, I thought you were ignoring me~"

He squinted and smiled, with a triumphant expression on his face.

"No, no..."

She hesitated and turned her head, avoiding his sharp gaze.

"Then why have you been avoiding me lately?"

"Have I?"

"Yes, ever since we came back from the graveyard last time. You have been avoiding me, not answering my calls or texts."

He looked at her with clear pupils, unwavering.

"..."

She hesitated for a moment, and the events of that day flashed before her eyes, as if it was just yesterday.

Does he not remember?

A sense of relief washed over her.

Whether he truly doesn't remember or he's pretending not to...

She only knows that she regrets her words that day.

"I like you, Big Brother."

She heard a voice, the words she had said to him in the woods that day.

"Raina?"

A voice interrupted her thoughts.

"What we said that day doesn't count!!"

She snapped out of it and blurted out.

"What does 'doesn't count' mean, Xiaodian? Have you lost your mind?"

Samson Nan was startled and reached out to touch her forehead.

"I'm not running a fever."

"Your brain is fried!"

She pushed his hand away, thought for a moment, and murmured softly:

"Maybe it's better if it's fried..."

It seems like he really didn't care about what happened that day, and she oddly felt relieved.

"You brat, why do you talk like that~"

He said, and squeezed her hand a little harder.

"Ouch!"

She pulled her hand back from his grip.

"Weren't you supposed to attend a wedding today? Why did you come back?"

"Oh~ How did you know?"

He saw that Raina Nan seemed to be in a better mood, and also felt relieved.

"Hmph~"

She wrinkled her nose and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

"I also know that you almost got into a fight with the groom~"

"..."

He fell silent, how could he forget about Bell Tong being such a gossip.

"Ahem, don't play dumb with me. I came here today for a reason."

He suddenly became serious, straightening his back.

"Raina, what is the most important thing you need to focus on right now?"

"..."

"Don't know? Let me tell you, it's studying for college."

"..."

"So here's the question, to do well in college, what things should you do and what things should you avoid?"

"Brother..."

She hesitated for a moment.

"Just say it if you have something to say, you're being... weird and disgusting..."

"..."

"Ahem, well, it's not really important. It's more like there's nothing important at all. Your brother is on your side, it's just that our mom asked me to ask you something."

After making sure he had shifted the blame, he looked up.

"Are you dating?"

"Ah..."

She paused for a moment.

"What?!!"
